    Jerry, Your video was the best solo motorcycle ride up to Deadhorse on RUclips, other RUclipsrs posted as if they went to Mt. Everest, you made it look like as if you went to a local park just across your home! I have been to Alaska and it’s the only place on Earth where you can literally talk to God! I have the same tires on my BMW GSA1250, they can go for 14,000 miles. Thanks for sharing.

    A really good series of videos. No bs, just good highlights that tell a clear story. Makes me want to take that trip, too.
    Are you going to post your Baja ride? You are probably already down there about now. I rode both sides of Baja about 3 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice people, felt safe and beautiful country.

      Thanks for the comments. Yes, I am sitting here editing the Mexico video as your comment came in. I should have it posted in the next couple days. It was a wonderful trip, but I did break down on the last day. It wasn't that big of a deal. I got it towed to the border and pushed it across where my son came and picked me up.

    How did the Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires fare on this adventure?

    • @rso1411
      @rso1411 Год назад +1

      Carlos: The Trail Max tires were great. They handled well on the highway, gravel, mud, snow, and dirt. I've decided they are the only tires I am going to use on this bike. I finally switched them out at 12,000 miles.

    Awesome documentary of your ride. I have a 22 PAS - I want to do this ride as well. So, you did not run out of gas at any time? I'm always paranoid when it comes to fuel . I carry a 2 gl gas tank but very inconvenient to carry and store. I'm plotting your route to follow same steps. Not a big fan of the cold and will ride when its the warmest. Ride safe , see ya on the road....Greetings from Texas..

    • @rso1411

      Jose: I did have to stop just a few miles outside of deadhorse and put some gas in my tank. Other than that, I had plenty of fuel. I did carry a 2 gal. bladder. It is a pain, but the peace of mind made it worthwhile. My personal policy when I'm travelling is, when I get down to a half tank, I stop at the next gas station. Thanks for the comments.

      @@rso1411 Thanks for the response Jerry. I'm planning on doing this trip next year. Too many things got in the way for this year ( one ride to a conference in Vagas and the 2nd to FL Keys ) Hard to get 2-3weeks off in a row. I carry a typical 2 Gal gas can but its not very easy to accommodate on the panier. I like the blader because its collapsible, I used to ride a 13-Goldwind, then a 21-Road King. And if you run out of gas , you can't push either. This Pan AM I can push not problem if it comes to that. Buddy of mine is riding to Alaska as we speak, I missed out do to schedule. Anyway ------ One question for you on your PanAM. I saw you Baja video (Awesome). Besides the rectifier Prob, any other issues to report on the PanAM.? I had the Radiator Hose too close to the exhaust issue fixed. Besides that, its been awesome. I do carry a Lithium Battery Starter just in case - I did see that you mentioned starting issues in the very cold in Alaska....Thanks for all the ino, love the videos. Ride safe, see ya on the road..

      @@JoseVillarreal-ke1kv I hope you get to do the ride, it really is a lifetime achievement that after you've done it, you just look back a say , "Wow." make sure you video, take lots of photos, and journal. If you plan to go all the way up to Deadhorse, just remember there is no unleaded gas once you leave Fairbanks, so you should take Octane Boost. The one thing that I should have done better is Chain Maintenance. With that amount of weight on the bike, it puts a lot more wear on the chain. I'm lucky mine didn't break. But other than the battery, the bike performed almost perfect. I think this new engine is almost bullet proof. Keep me posted on your progress and if you do the ride. I am taking mine to Sturgis this year.

      Thanks for watching. I've had a few problems. it did great on the Alaska trip, no problems at all. I rode down the Baja Peninsula and my stator failed, draining my battery. My fuel pump is going out right now. I've replaced the battery twice. Having said that, I love the bike. It is so much fun to ride. I am taking it to Sturgis this year.

      Wayne, it's the standard seat that came with the bike. I find that my butt gets sore for the first couple days on a long distance ride, but no problem beyond that. I am heading down the Baja Peninsula at the end of this month and will post that video also. How do you like the Pan America?

    Nice travelogue. I left my home just north of Seattle on June 15th and rode my 650 VStrom up to Alaska to visit our 8 week old grandson. I was definitely in the minority riding this small a bike. I’m not small, about 6’3” and 200 plus all the gear. I Followed similar route up but turned south at Tok for Anchorage. Originally I’d planned on camping at the Arctic circle campground but there was a fire and it was closed. Whet home riding the Top of the World Highway into Dawson City and then back down following the Cassiar highway. Like you I did some camping and some motels and hostels. Can you give a ride report on your Pan America? Maintenance, tire wear, chain wear, mpg etc? It is a bike I find interesting but I only saw one on my trip up and back. I’m not savvy enough for videos and just used my cell phone for pictures. I wrote a trip report to the v-strom world at : www.stromtrooper.com/threads/off-to-alaska-to-visit-grandchildren.438943/

      BandK: The Pan America did great. Other than my battery freezing in Deadhorse, there were no mechanical problems. I put new Dunlop Mission Trail Max tires on right before I left. They were a good choice. They did great in the mud, snow, & gravel. I just switched out the back tire with 12,000 miles on it and it was still in decent shape. Thanks for watching.
