My wife and I have the honor to serve in Uganda as missionaries. Your messages have been a tremendous resource to our home church elders as we walk chapter by chapter through Exodus on Sundays. I am simply stunned by the gospel message from chapters 1-19 and then all the tabernacle plans. Thank you for serving our Lord and passing along textual richness and insights.

I understand that repentance does not have the exactly the same meaning for God. For me God's repente is no doing what is most likely expected.

I have a question for pastor David. Do you believe if we have given our life to Jesus and asking Him to guide our steps and genuinely trying to follow Him, that when we die if we still have idols or sin we didn’t know about that we will be sanctified before entering into our eternal home with God? Or that there is a sanctification process after death if we are not sanctified while on earth?

      Hi Theresa, great question.
When a person receives forgiveness from God and puts their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, then they are completely forgiven, and they are granted a right standing (righteousness) before God. That right standing with God isn't based upon us living the rest of our lives in perfection, because that is impossible.
You ask if that right standing with God is in jeopardy if we still have idols or unknown sin. I would say, as long as that commitment to Jesus was sincere. Every born again Christian will have struggles, sins, and imperfections until the day that they die, so a Christian's salvation isn't in jeopardy because of continuing problems in their life.
The Bible doesn't say anything about any kind of continuing sanctification process after death. It is this life only that we follow Jesus and do our best to walk with him. It is only by his work on the cross that we are justified.
I hope that these verses will help.
Titus 3:4-6 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

Thank you pastor David for all of your efforts to help us. You are my favorite Bible teacher. I don’t always agree 100 percent with matters of opinion but I know you stay straight with the Bible and that is important to us. I always pray for you. I hope to some day say hello to you in heaven. But hello also here on RUclips and thank you again for your response to my question

God is a jealous God, God will never allow idols , that’s why it’s so important to make note that if the Catholics would worship idols God would end that, it would not last 2000 plus years . The Eucharist was not challenged for the early Christians for 1500 years . Till a Catholic priest Martin said other wise . God would not allow idols so it explains how the Eucharist is the real presence of God on earth
