Man i miss shane's recurve hunts and the rattlesnake videos. Miss looking forward to the trapping videos. Shane film some hunts man your missed. Wheres toth?
You guys got my friend group so fired up to hunt together. Our favorite video was where you guys would walk down the river and bowfish. It’s been well over 10 years and I still enjoy those videos. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us
Been watching these guys since probably 2010, anyways gets me back in the mood to go hunting. Shout out from over in the Poconos. Happy and safe hunting to all.
Honestly one of the best channels on RUclips for hunting, fishing, and all things outdoor. @LeatherwoodOutdoors will always be a shining light for everyone that wants to learn and understand old and new opportunities to interact with nature!
I’ve been watching leatherwood outdoors since I found RUclips in 2008! Has been one of my favorite if not my favorite channel of all time on RUclips. What a great listen! Shane got me into shooting a recurve with watching him shoot doe and big buck with it !
This was an absolute great listen. I have loved watching and following LWO for over a decade now. John’s message on Christianity was perfect and gave me an absolutely different perspective on things. Great mindset for hunting and life. Cheers from a fellow Redbank area hunter.
Love wait9ng every year to see leatherwoods upload new rifle and archery videos!! Here in venango county PA. Really makes their video's that much better and real to my life and hunting experiences! Leatherwoods for the RUclips whitetail hunts!
John, im still waiting for that video outlining all of Rons kills over the years. Been watching you guys for a long time and seems like every year Ron is killin a buck lol. You said year or so ago that it may be in the works so I hope it is one of these years. The podcast should have Ron on. Always look forward to hearing his stories on the opening day videos and hearing his kill recap lol. Might be an 8hr podcast but I would tune in! Loved the podcast. Being from Altoona, I enjoy the local content way more than the other stuff on youtube. Keep up the good work fellas!
I’ve watched these guys since 2009 so relatable like you guys talked about I’ve got hours of film on the computer. My favorite one is when Shane starts puking after shooting that 10 pt is AWESOME
Love watching these guys through the years and the transition the channel has made from a group of guys to girlfriends/wives and their kids hunting now! Can’t wait for the next video! Good luck this season!
I am tuning in from China for the first time! Great stuff!I hunted in Clarion Country from my first year that I was able to hunt till about college age. I still find time to get back over there when I can. Can't wait till the next time I am in the area so more memories can be made and more stories can be told.
I love LWO videos. I really enjoy when John’s father-in-law Ron gives history of certain firearms after or before he goes hunting. LWO is a great channel especially since I live in western PA
Love it when you fellas get a buzz goin, always adds depth to conversation. I wasn't familiar with Leatherwood Outdoors and their content is right up my alley, excited to watch the flintlock videos!
Couldn’t agree more about wanting to be able to see more, specifically when you’re looking at trail camera photos or guest are showing pictures on their phone. I wanna see that big buck too!! Haha
Im having the same problem with the Browning trail camera. The biggest buck on my property will not come by if i put that camera up. As soon as I switched he shows back up. Now i know im not going crazy thinking its the type of camera
saturday Nov 6th 2020. Im in north central Pa (3b) on public, hunting the last evening of my week long vacation for archery deer season. Its also the last evening of archery bear season. The Wednesday of this week i has harvested a decent 8, and thurday i had filmed an even better one on my phone (made me sad my tag was full) i still had a doe tag, and a bear tag. Twice that week i had had bear on camera in the area i was hunting, and one really really nice looking 400+pound brute! The area was a 10-15acre beech thicket, producing a heavy rain of nuts, about 200 yards from a 20-30acre swamp. I didnt actually think id see a bear to take a shot at, but i knew there was a chance, and probably a better than average chance. Well Saturday evening im sitting in a little 70sq yard clearing, the pokes into the side of the beech thicket. Im watching the penn state game on my phone, cause im only doe hunting really, and honestly just enjoying being in the woods. It’s nearing half time, and i start to hear something large walking through the woods. It sounds close, but it gets louder and louder and louder, and im looking all around but i cant see anything (i hunt on the ground no blind) finally after what feels like 5mins, i look to my right a little, catch a flicker of movement. A boulder shifted to the right, i look again real quick, and now it shifts to the left. Its not a boulder, its an estimated 428lbs live weight bear. And its walking right towards me. I quickly drop my phone, grab my crossbow (😁) and get ready, the bear walks to about 27ish yards right in front of me, and i burry the bolt up to the fletching in him. He burys himself 600 yards further into the beech thicket before laying down and passing. I go get help and give him time to expire, we get on the bear again at 7:30pm, we dont get out of the woods (total drag of 1078yards) until 12:45pm. There were 4 of us, a cart, and 800yards of the drag was on the trail. Sweet mother fing lord they are not fun getting out of the woods! But the full body mount looks amazing
The guys that say they are meat hunters but pass up does for a small buck are using a cop out. A true meat hunter shoots the first legal deer they see regardless of antler's and shouldn't be faulted for that.
A fact id like to add about hunters in Pa that the PGC recently shared. There are still 850k hunters in Pa, 350k roughly are archery hunters. So that 60% of buck are archery buck statistic is kind of crazy when you consider less than half of all hunters in PA are archery hunters. I would imagine the percentage of doe is higher still. And the majority of both are probably crossbow kills
I was looking for a good podcast to listen to this fall to get pumped up to get up to the PA woods this season. Glad @HUNTRPOD brought @LeatherwoodOutdoors on. Not only did it introduce their listeners to the best PA hunting channel on RUclips, but it also gave their viewers a great podcast to listen to.
If you want to do another Pa hunter/youtuber you should invite flinter on he does hunter call of the wild and some irl hunting shot a 180 inch buck 2 or 3 years ago in pa
2c is like 95k almost in doe tags and its mostly mtns 2a is mostly farm land with less doe tags..and it was more than 2c in tags for years ...make any of this make sense ..2c is basically 50/50 bucks to doe and 2a is 70/30 doe to bucks ...don't take my word use a spotlight and see for yourself out here...
Wow u guys these is the mecka to go to crossbow if ima shoot a big buck u think I want to miss an inch if ima pull the trigger I want that buck or doe I want to put that arrow or bullet in to the kill spot we have all missed and wounded deer who care😢 wtf u shot with if you found the deer u wanted then u take it I gat 1 to 2 weeks to get it done so props to y’all who think you’re more of a man to shoot it with a stick and a string
3:18:59 hunter numbers are dropping because of population dynamics. The baby boom generation is currently 62+. Theyre the largest generation (by far) since them. They make up the largest number of hunters, by far. As they age out. Hunter numbers will drop. Period. The only way to increase the population of hunters is to recruit extra new hunters. Not just kids being born into hunting familes and then becoming hunters. Nope you need new hunters from families who were never part of the population of hunters. I order to replace baby boomers.
I have to ask 😂does he know doe can be pronounced plural?😂 every time I heard “i was trying to kill doe” angered me and idk why bc I am not good at literature 😂😂
Had a great time and thankful for being on with you guys! Hope to do it again sometime!
