@ I had one of those a week ago. Thought I had a flu-like bug for 12 hours... I was hot/cold with sweat, nauseous, dry-heaved stomach bile eventually..... Had another stomach pain yesterday (from what I believe was from some baked beans? The sauce they put the beans in?) Every time I get a pain, I know I have to deal with it. Sleep is the best dealer, if I can find myself at peace enough to fall asleep. 4-8 hours worth of digesting pains to go through, if not longer. Not fun!

Back then my symptoms when I found out I was allergic too was bloating, gas, atrocious stomach pains, horrific amounts of sweating, and for some reason it affected my mood a lot as well. I took a lot of blood tests and saw my cholesterol level was low (around the 80s I believe) one of the blood tests came back to me and it turns out that I was tested positive for celiac disease. I’ve been free of gluten for almost 7 years now and it’s been a game changer for me. At first yes it is challenging when switching but it gets easier over time.

Finding gluten-free foods can be tough sometimes because some products tend to claim they are gluten-free when they really aren't or have small amounts. This is probably because some people tend to think gluten-free=healthy gluten=unhealthy, but for someone with celiac disease, stuff that is really gluten-free is all they can eat. Also, even though I don't have celiac disease, I like the taste of gluten-free foods and would opt for them when available.

  • @PositiveRaincloud

This explains SO MUCH for me. The stomach cramping and diarrhoea is absolutely no joke. I never thought something as simple as bread/wraps could cause some serious problems. Now I've been on a diet for celiac disease I have more energy, I don't feel like going to the toilet every 20 minutes, my depression is getting much better, and I don't have agonising stomach pains like I'm being stabbed from the inside. It's sad, because some of my favourite dishes are fajitas/tacos and sandwiches, but the benefits of not eating them outweigh eating them. Even my brain fog and tunnel vision has considerably improved.

I have a growth stunt, so they tested me for celiac. You know the intolerance level thingy, stating you have to be 0-3 intolerance level to not have celiac? I have 4. The lowest level possible. I used to love gluten, and I even ate raw pasta, sometimes just ate fresh bread, and I miss it so much. Someone actually told me (with celiac, much higher tolerance ) that I might have celiac before the test, because I thrown up for an hour and a half after eating some chips, and on Christmas I got sick again and had pink tiny spots on my legs.

I keep cheating so I have all the digestive issues; my hair is falling out, the enamel on my teeth is going, I have rashes frm time to time, my skin is dry. When I first started the diet, I was completely dedicated. I lost 30 lbs in 3 months. Then I started cheating a little here & there (like a burger). It’s no good to cheat. I eventually gained all the weight back & have been struggling ever since. I think it’s laziness & lack of commitment. I wish someone wld teach us how to do this & stick with it😫😫😫

Then at 16, I started eating less and less wheat knowing that if ever I do eat wheat, I pop a big migraine. I would have suffered from celiac disease if I continued eating wheat. I've been on a keto diet for a year and a half (as of December 16th 2018. June 4 2017 was the start.) I feel a lot better.

Ive been recently diagnosed with celiac disease. i have gluten rash along my legs and buttocks. I can't even wear shorts anymore, I have to let the scars fade. The rash returns only if I eat a gluten heavy meal. Even though I may not experience the severe digestive problems, the itchy rash is a telltale sign. For the last year, I had the rash, I couldn't figure what it was. I keep a food diary, and I record my experiences as part of my weight loss journey. I noticed every time I go keto or carb free, the rash goes away. Hopefully this helps someone, you might have gluten allergy. Welcome to the club T_T

When I was little, my dad gave me oatmeal and I broke out in rash. My mom has celiac disease, so she knew how to care for me. I had fruity pebbles a few years later, and got welts all over, for 2 days. Other than that, I was fine accidentally eating gluten. It only made my tongue itchy. But then I got given a mars bar being told it “had no wheat “. I knew better, but ate it anyway. Barley. I got sick a few days later, and had to take time off school. Yeah, celiac disease is sure hard, but if you know how to control it, you can cope. And if you don’t, bad things happen. You grow pale, and all that nonsense. Stay safe and don’t test your luck on candy bars.

Can milk and yogurt be ok if having celiac disease?

    • @childrenscolo
      @childrenscolo 9 лет назад +9

Thanks for the question, Sasha M! We asked Registered Dietitian Marisa Dzarnoski Riley, RD, CNSC, a dietitian in our Colorado Center for Celiac Disease, to answer your question. Here is what she had to say:
"For someone with celiac disease, milk and yogurt can be a very nutritious contribution to the gluten-free diet. They are excellent sources of calcium, Vitamin D and protein. It is a common misconception that dairy is also a concern with celiac disease. Your doctor may recommend reducing dairy consumption temporarily if you are newly diagnosed or have active celiac disease because milk also contains lactose. Lactose, a sugar found in milk, can be difficult to digest when someone has intestinal damage like that seen in celiac disease. However, when you follow a gluten-free diet your intestines should heal and your ability to digest lactose should return. If your doctor has recommended to reduce dairy in your diet, ask if simply using a lactose-free version would be appropriate instead."
      We hope this is helpful!

Fresh produce, fresh cheese, fresh dairy, butter, nuts, seeds, and fresh meats (without broths or spices added until you get home). These will keep you healthy. If you eat the processed foods and high glycemic foods that promote inflammation -- you might not really feel much better. Plus, if you eat the sugar and processed foods, your pocketbook will scream also. GF processed foods are EXPENSIVE

0:19 a little over 1% of the world population is estimated to suffer the disease, so I think we can call it "rare". But yeah sure if you walk around a supermarket's alley, you will think the number should be higher...since the whole cheap food industry seem to cattle to to that group...and turn it into a trend, that might do more harm than good long term.
The solution is to manage the condition yourself, with the help of your Dr (the food industry doesn't want to help they just want your money) and for the love of God stop watching a what other people enjoy eat, it doesn't help you. You will feel better and stronger once you exercise your body and learn what works for you (yes exercise is an important part of managing this condition mind you) but you have to take the steps, it's your body, it isn't to say you are in charge but you are responsible for it.

To be honest, I want celiac because:
When I go to the store near my school I hitch a ride from my teacher
    and she is like:
Your so light! eat some dough
    Me right now: Stop it
Me *if I had celiac*: I can't eat dough so hah!

Jaylio it’s like when you have diabetes they call it the diabetics diet. A diet isn’t always for loosing weight it’s just specifics a person eats
