      iPadOS is far superior to macOS, tehy will never bring macOs to iPad, NOTHING has professional software made for touch from the ground up. i mean android is a complete joke just as windows touchtops, thats the mess you get with ancient OS on a touchscreen, the software has "some" touch features but in the end it really is a total mess and brings basically nothing to the table.
      asking why an iPad needs so much power is like asking why a mac would need an M1 or even a pro or max or ultra series.
      ofc for the same reason, ppl need more power.
      the Problem is education, ppl have no idea about iPadOS and iPad in general.
      they see it as a big iphone to watch youtube.
      which is absolutely not the case.

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 21 день назад +1

      macOS is not touch friendly and if porting when docked to an external display is your solution, that is niche, and no chance that will ever happen as there is zero upside for Apple.

    • @JohnSmith-pn2vl
      @JohnSmith-pn2vl 21 день назад

      that will never happen ever, NO.
      iPadOS is FAR SUPERIOR to macOS, just look at windows touchtops or android tablets, which are basically non existant.
      a complete mess.
      nothing has pro touch software like iPad.
      android hasnt even any pro software in the first place so....
      there is a 99% chance an iPad can do your specific task better and faster than a mac could ever do.
      iPadOS is replacing macOS that is obvious to me.

    I’m gonna get me an iPad Pro 11”. I personally feel uncomfortable bringing my MacBook Pro to edit photos on the spot, when I can just bring an iPad for that sole purpose of editing on the go, but be more comfortable to where it’s not like having a feeling of bringing a heavier device just for editing. Having a iPad will also make my Apple ecosystem more accessible, but that’s a small reason for it.

    • @jasontaycs7195
      @jasontaycs7195 20 дней назад

      @@jamchrista4784 I might do the same as OP. Card reader is not a huge deal since I've got dongle/adapters and I intend to mostly edit off the cloud. Import everything on my PC, edit on the go via Lightroom CC. An iPad is also easier to quickly pull out, edit a couple photos on a bus ride and chuck it back in the bag when alighting.
      It's not like MacOS has decent file management either. It's usable, but as a heavy Windows user, it's horrible for photo management. It's so bad I have to use Adobe Bridge as my photo file manager. In my case I don't think I'll be doing much file management, just purely editing and maybe exporting/sharing to my iPhone via AirDrop if required. The bulk of the final exports will still be done on my PC.

    • @mylensofview23
      @mylensofview23 19 дней назад

      @@jamchrista4784 as stated before, I feel more comfortable bringing an iPad than a MacBook to edit while I'm out...less space, much lighter, and much more convenient for on the go purposes than the MacBook. Secondly, I carry a USB-C card reader with me when I take photos with my camera (before my iPad broke) to edit on the go. It may not be as good as the MacBook, but it still gets the job done; different devices, same results. Plus, I primarily take photos with my iPhone, so Airdropping them via my phone's hotspot is a simpler process than to have a card reader...not to mention, there's an app that can allow me to send photos from camera to iPad, so having a card reader is more like a backup option.

    You’re missing the point they used the M4 processor to run the tandem OLED display, and also keep the heat down due to the thin case structure, and also to keep the battery life at 10 hours. they’ve also added copper below the Apple logo to try to dissipate the heat.The M4 will work a lot more efficiently in such a small package. It was not put in there to speed up programs, etc..

    • @Johnov
      @Johnov 19 дней назад

      I believe that Apple using M4 to reduced the form factor to a very thin slate is great, and the new iPads are extremely impressive in terms of technology. The issue that many users are noting, though, is that almost everything that M4 IPad Pros can do also be done on M1 iPad Pros at close to the same speed. Even the older 2018/2020 iPads Pros are still great, though they don’t have Thunderbolt and external monitor support like the M-series. I’m also suspecting that the performance difference between the base M4s and the $3K version will not be that noticeable. I can understand why people would want Apple to significantly power up iPadOS to justify how expensive they can be.

    I’m a high school student, and I preordered the 13 inch M4 iPad Pro with the accessories. I’m upgrading from my 2017 iPad Pro, which started to slow down with my power user student needs. I browse and annotate multiple huge PDFs (300+ MB) of my textbooks, and have ~1000 tabs open across safari tab groups. I also need to have a whole bunch of apps open and need my device to not get all laggy as I use my huge OneNote notebooks! I know it seems absurd to spend so much on an iPad, well that’s because it is. I just hope Apple gives us the OPTION of dual booting macOS when using the Magic Keyboard! This thing is faster than the M3 Pro MacBook Pro…

    11 & 13-inch iPad Pro “complete package” pricing is more akin to MacBook Pro pricing, which I think is totally acceptable for those who want the best iPad they can buy for how they use the iPad.
    If you’re looking to get a cheap, good iPad comparable to a laptop, either of the iPad Air “complete packages” or even the standard iPad “complete package” is a better way to go for most people.
    So I don’t expect you’ll find that the base model iPad Pro complete package at $1500-1800 is suitable for most people, because it’s not intended for most people. And that’s okay.

    Why? Because it gives you the flexibility of pulling it off the Magic Keyboard and using as an iPad, but all the power of in-between a MacBook Air and Pro. MacBooks don't have touchscreens or Pencil capabilities, but has longer battery life. Why is the iPad mini more expensive than the regular iPad? The portability of that size and the power of the chip. There are always trade-offs -- it's up to the individual user on what they get the most out of, and where to put their money. The use cases are laid out in the event -- ProCreate, new versions of Final Cut and Logic Pro, etc. And for those not needing all the power of the Pro, there's the Air, that also supports Pencil Pro -- which surprisingly didn't get a price increase despite the major upgrades! All great announcements. I'm glad every product won't get every chip for Mx. iMac was the first to skip M2, and now iPad Pro. A relief we won't have to endure that many product announcements if some products skip a generation of processor updates. Of course Vision Pro and recent MacBook Air buyers are probably not happy with that, but it is what it is.

    I see many comments online regarding people having difficulty deciding on the 9-core CPU version. My take on the matter is that since the 9-core version performs similarly to the M3 chip, so it's not weak. If you are considering the 1TB model for the chip reason, you're essentially spending an additional $500 for a single-core upgrade, which isn't really worth it for most cats unless that one core makes a life and death difference to how you use the iPad. Additionally, most people don't need more than 256GB of storage, especially if you already have the 2TB iCloud+ monthly subscription. If you own an M1 or M2 model, the real question to ask yourself is how excited you are for the Tandem OLED. Otherwise, just forget it. The chip gimmick will always make whatever you buy today appear obsolete in a year or two, as seen with how the baseline M4 chips already outperform the M2 Max chip. So, instead of spending any money on an upgrade, it's better to just save it and go with the baseline. Perhaps in two or three years, you can get a brand new iPad with the money saved from not upgrading + the trade-in value.

    Last generation, I went with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro phasing out a 9.7-inch iPad Pro before that. I wanted more real estate and the better display (mini-LED)...only to hardly ever use it. It was just too heavy and really awkward to use in portrait mode. Landscape mode was great for watching movies as long as the tablet was propped up and I didn't have to hold it. I also do some art on the side. I feel like I want to upgrade probably next generation. I would LOVE to have an M series chip and the extra Apple Pencil features are really appealing to me. But my current iPad still works fine, and I don't need to drop 2K right now. The only thing that's a little lack luster is the battery, which is to be expected. I also want to wait and see if Logitech makes a similar folio for this newer generation. I really want a magic keyboard, but it really bothers me that you can't detach it without removing the entire case or putting the keys face down on the table. I want to see how the thin design goes and see what they come up with next gen.

    Yup, I bit the bullet and pre-ordered it. Story time. So what happened was… I bought the first iPad Pro 12.9 and it’s still in use daily almost 10 years later. I it went to my stepfather after I ordered the 2018 with 1TB. But the MacBook Pro M1 was released so upgraded my MBP from the 2012 to the M1 with 1TB and thought I wouldn’t use the iPad Pro so I sold my 2018 with the keyboard and my friend stopped using his MacBook Pro once he received the 2018 iPad Pro and its still uses it daily. I was good with the new M1 MBP, or so I thought but found myself in some cases still missing the iPad Pro.
    Sooooo I bought a used M1 iPad Pro 12.9 with 256GB storage and keyboard for a good price and it’s been a daily driver but lacking in storage for how I use it. The MBP M1 hasn’t seen much love but in a few small one offs that I could probably just have used my Raspberry Pi 4 or windows laptop for. Things like de-bricking something and local hardware updates with a programmer. The mini-LED display on the M1 iPad Pro is impressive. Unfortunately I think someone at some point in time put a lighting plug into the USB-C port of the M1 IPad Pro and some pins are damaged for the data transfer. I have the part but have not done the repair yet. If I screw up the repair and crack that display I’m done, with the cost of that display would be more than the used price I paid for it.
    So now comes in the dual OLED thinner M4 iPad Pro with what seems to be a better keyboard. And a change to update again with more storage this time. Once I get the new one I ordered with 1TB and new keyboard I will probably do the repair on the M1 iPad Pro and if all goes well either sell it or pass it on. And now I am seriously thinking about selling the M1 MacBook Pro since it really doesn’t get used often. Selling both will help offset the new cost of the M4 iPad Pro. I also look at it like its an investment considering all my old iPad Pro are still being used daily almost 10 years old, and even my 2012 MBP is still being used almost every day. So hopefully the new iPad Pro M4 will last just as long and my only concern is the dual OLED and how these panels will handle burn in. Hope Apple is driving them with variable refresh rebate in tandem hopefully to help them also last 10+ years. I guess I will just have to wait and find out.

But it seems like it’s slowing down a little maybe because of the battery who knows. And then the Samsung S9 ultra came out and everybody loves the screen size and it’s picture quality. So I picked one of them up and tried it with photo editing and it works phenomenally good except the import and export of the large raw files that come out of my Sony A7rv compared to the older m1 iPad. May I ask if the 2018 iPad Pros still have updates to the latest operating system?

      @@stevenrobertson4190 yep. Most recent version is 17.4.1 and that’s what I’m running. With WWDC next month it’s possible a major update will be released and no telling when they will drop support, but for now it’s fully supported.

    I would buy the iPad Pro 11' base model with Apple Pencil Pro. I really don't need that keyboard maybe later on.

    Given that it uses M4 chip, any chance it can link up to 2 external monitors?

    I have the 12.9 M1 version with the Magic Keyboard and the folio keyboard. I find my self with the folio one more often because it's lighter. The Magic Keyboard is far better, but the track pad is too small so I use touch. Guess the new one improves on that. With the Magic Keyboard it feels like my 14" M1 Pro MacBook Pro. I would rather take the MacBook based on my work flows. I'm pondering selling both and just upgrading my MacBook to M3 with more memory. My iPad has become an entertainment device and not used that often.

    When I studied my degree in visual communications at the UKs finest art & design university I was taught to create with my mind and not worry about applications, latest tech or software. I don’t care for the latest apple products because my skill is superior and for half the price I can get more - and new chips coming for android will easily compete with m chips if not blow them out the water.

    Once again, you're right, there has never been a hardware problem with the iPad ... it's an OS problem. GarbageOS continues to hold back the iPad. There is almost nothing I need from these new amazing pieces of hardware that my 2018 iPad Pro won't do. And I am certainly not spending ONE THOUSAND dollars on an iPad when it's impossible to take advantage of the amazing hardware. -- If Apple would just dump GarbageOS and allow the iPad to go from iOS to MacOS when a keyboard is attached it would be the PERFECT device. Until that day happens I'll keep buying awesome MacBook Airs and hold on to my very old iPad Pro. My M2 MacBook Air is amazing and it was like $1600 (almost) two years ago.

    As I watched a few New iPad reviews, I've noticed a lot of complaints/comments around price. The same folks complaining likely think that the CyberTruck @ $100k is a real value. Consider: the M4 iPad Pro will last longer between charges, FREE over the air updates, never end up in the shop or subject to recall, world-class fit and finish...and regardless how thin....will NEVER chop off your fingers!

    My wife is a tablet convert. She prefers iPad Pro over MacBook Air/Pro. We are going to replace hers with the new iPad Pro 13-inch. This looks like the most notable upgrade of the iPad Pro in a long time. No more blooming from the mini-LED display when moving to OLED. The Magic Keyboards gets some decent updates as well going aluminimum and finally getting function keys. The only annoying thing according to my wife is the decision of making it thinner over adding a larger battery. She doesn't feel much benefit of it becoming thinner but compared to my MacBook Pro with M1 Pro she does get jealous about my full day battery life. The iPad Pro has never been able to get anywhere close to a full day of battery, and this doesn't seem to change anything in that regard.
