This movie franchise, in particular, and a simple Log Truck scene, has cause countless generations to rethink their driving lifestyle, including scarring them.
Thanks to this movie, my sister, to this day (45) refuses to drive behind a timber truck. We did it like a month after watching the movie, and just the tiny bits of bark being rubbed loose from the the logs had us staring at them as if it was a monster 😅 The second it was available, she drove past it (2 lane highway). Our timber trucks aren't like this one though. The have like... I want to call them bars, on the sides, sometimes they have some sort of bands (similar to ones you can use on suitcases but bigger and more durable). But they are still a worry in both of our minds to this day (and I don't even drive 😂)
Yeah last weekend I come across with log trucks on Georgia State Highway 540 going to Macon. I saw it I stepped on that gas pedal til I hit 90 mph and passed it.
Earlier this year I found myself driving behind a log truck, on route 180. No joke. I told my wife “If Highway to Hell starts on the radio we’re pulling over for ten or fifteen minutes.”

Fun Fact: my wife learned to drive on the section of highway that the log truck scene was filmed on. Her dad's company did the culverts and had access to it before it opened.
I'm gonna be blunt here: For as iconic as the truck scene and the first kill are, this movie shows they already missed what made the first one so impactful. The first movie wasn't just about Death seeking revenge for having its design cheated, it was doing in a way that was actively spiting Alex for tampering with it. Because it teased him with Tod's death, killed the others in his vicinity or presence, and killed Mrs. Lewton in a way that framed him and made him go crazy for believing that there was a plan. From here on out, the deaths are just gonna be things that happen in increasingly ridiculous manners that only make ironic justice for the audience who sees the Rube-Goldberg traps being set up, and therefore don't feel an ounce satisfying seeing the main character reacting to them. Just my opinion FYI, they made 5 of these things, so what do I know.

If the SUV has been traveling at 60mph for three minutes plus another 1 minute 43 seconds at the time of the crash, then it is 4.71667 miles down the road at the time of the accident. If the truck passes the highway entrance at the 3 minute mark, it has to travel 4.71667 miles in 103 seconds (1 minute 43 seconds) to be at the same place as the SUV. 103 seconds = 0.02861 hours Truck speed = 4.71667 miles / 0.02861 hours Therefore, the truck needs to be traveling at 164.86 miles per hour to be in the correct place for the accident in Kimberly's vision to occur.

originally they tried to shoot the logs falling off the truck for real but were unable to get them to bounce as they wanted to for the shot so instead the logs falling off the truck was achieved using CGI. the shot of the log going through the troopers car was a real log rammed through a car but the actor was shot on a separate greenscreen plate and superimposed into the shot. all of the car wrecks were achieved using real cars and stunt drivers and for scenes requiring cars to flip violently was done using remote methods without stunt drivers behind the wheel, everything was planned out using matchbox toy cars too.

All the people that are freaked out by log trucks now when in truth they had to do the log bit by cgi because REAL LOGS DONT BOUNCE LIKE THAT!!! Also, normal cars dont have hydraulic rams to flip them over nor do they carry an arsenal of grenades to make them explode like that. For both of those, it's the Final Destination of the Characters, and the Final Fantasy for the world. However Final Fantasy did screw that up with making a 10-2, and 13-2 and 13-3. So the Final Fantasies are not proper.

You didn't sin the fact that a garbage truck was doing highway speed with its forks elevated well above the cab in clear disregard to DOT mandates; even getting one of those things up to that speed would be a religious experience.
The problem with the log truck scene is... log truck trailers have "log bunks", large metal upright poles that logs are cradled in when loaded. Chains, straps and cables are used really to keep the logs from off backwards, as the log bunks prevent logs from falling off the side of the trailer
The cute blonde in the passenger seat in the beginning is Sarah Carter. She would go on to a recurring role as Alicia Baker on Smallville and Grace Gibbons aka Cicada II on The Flash.
Man, I wish A.J. Cook is returning for Final Destination 6 or any other future installment with Michael Landes as well. She just looks so cute with that dark hair. Chances are, if she returns her hair will remain blonde though :( (I mean look at Hayden Panettiere for Scream 6, actors don't really care all that much as much as we do)
AJ was in the most recent season of Criminal Minds, which was a decent season. I'm glad the series, at least didn't kill her off-screen, or with a brief cameo. Perhaps she's game, if it's a half-decent script.
@12:55 I always found the "we drove a long way to be here" explanation as to why something should go their way to be very superficial. If you drive a long distance to get to me and ask for anything - anything at all - I'm sending you home with nothing. I don't care the things you did for yourself, it's not on me to compensate you for something you did without discussing it first with me.
18:37 If you fucking paid attention to the movie, you'd know Clear isn't on the same list as the main characters here. She's the last of her own list. So, her dying when Eugene dies is just Death killing two birds with one stone.

Tbf, the only character trait of Officer Burke is handsome. But then again, all of the male leading characters of this franchise were kind of bland except Alex, and Burke is the most calm and collected.
Log truckers greatly appreciate this movie, no more tailgating!
Hope u add a ton of sins on for the ridiculousness of the crash! 😂
We all KNOW that the physics doesnt line up and that cars dont work that way.
...
...
But we still move over whenever a log truck is in front of us juuuuust in case
DONT YOU TALK ABOUT THAT SCENE LIKE THAT! That’s the best PSA moment in history for drivers to slow the hell down!
Exactly.
The logs would just roll over to the side.
But they won't even do that since steel chains are not going to break.
@@Madnessonman Thank you! And from an even more logical point of view, being directly behind the lorry is the safest place because "if" the logs did come off theyre gonna go out sideways not drop directly behind!
@@Madnessonman also have yet to see a "log truck" setup like that. Of course I live in the south, so maybe we just do things differently down here lol
This movie, single handedly prevented generations from driving behind log trucks
Thank you! The line ‘they were my friends’ always bugged me. They were not her friends 😂 only Alex and the other dude at the end of the movie
13:43 I'm dead. 💀 No assistance from Death needed.
I didn't even notice that was JJ from Criminal Minds until you said. I've seen this film tonnes.
@6:35 The destination is as final as the fantasy XD
For both of those, it's the Final Destination of the Characters, and the Final Fantasy for the world. However Final Fantasy did screw that up with making a 10-2, and 13-2 and 13-3. So the Final Fantasies are not proper.
Death: "I just LOVE the smell of fear!"
Crossover of Puss in Boots and Final Destination confirmed?!
@@unknownchoujin1436it would be cool if that was a actual freaking crossover. Death being Death!
Two things.
1) that's how I have always looked at log trucks
And B) cars don't explode? Guess you haven't heard of the Pinto.
Also, as a tertiary point, it's a magazine or mag, NOT A CLIP.
Did you take the third point from Penguiz0?
@@novadyaomah3168 nope. Haven't seen it yet, I take it from my dad
I just got off the freeway and had a Final destination moment. Wasn’t even a big truck. Just a pick up truck with some woods in the back 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
That scene will stay with us for life.
The biggest sin: that a mere explosion KILLED KRATOS!!!
That Rube Goldberg rat poison into your food line was genius
8:52 i knew that reference was coming
I literally just watched this movie same day this video was uploaded
My brother made our family watch this movie Christmas night after he got his first DVD player. Not Blu-ray, regular DVD.
The good old days 😊 I remember getting my first DVD player, I bought Titanic as my first one.
In the commentary for this movie, they said that those were the _real_ actors & actresses (in the van), _not_ stunt doubles. They specifically pointed out that when you see the van rolling over several times, you see the long blond haired girl's hair flying out through the van's sun roof.
Wait for it.... this joke has layers 😂😂😂
I laughed wayyyy too hard when I heard him say it😂🤣🤣🤣💯
oh man you could rack up soo many more sins, 3:26 the car key is in the off position, the coffee has already splashed his leg and computer the computer is not on and isn't even the right computer for a cop car in the 2K's
8:36 to be fair news showed 3000 people die live during 9/11
"I'm sure there's a term for it. If Spike Lee was here I bet he'd know what to call it." Lmao 🤣🤣😂😂😂 omg hahah 12:29
Back to the "Flight 180 Curse" we go for Halloween Season Thanks Tony Todd Also go "dead "final destination series" kill count" for details on the "Flight 180 curse" folks
*”my friend is me” wheeze cinema please 🤣😂*
Please please please please please please please please please please do Final Destination 3
It only took them 2 years to do part 2, so it might be awhile.
Simply put: this movie single handedly made me NEVER want to put plastic bottles or ANY bottles in my car, and flying by a logging truck is an absolute must regardless of traffic. Movies rarely have THAT kind of impact but come on people, surely I'm not the ONLY one here?🤔🤔
You didn't sin the fact that a garbage truck was doing highway speed with its forks elevated well above the cab in clear disregard to DOT mandates; even getting one of those things up to that speed would be a religious experience.
4:45 dude said add a few sins and it went from 26 to 72. Had me rolling 😂
My childhood feels attacked 😂😂
This is better than any driver’s ed course I’ve taken in LIFE.
At 5:58 thats the OG Kratos
The problem with the log truck scene is... log truck trailers have "log bunks", large metal upright poles that logs are cradled in when loaded. Chains, straps and cables are used really to keep the logs from off backwards, as the log bunks prevent logs from falling off the side of the trailer
Fun fact, setting C4 on fire will not cause it to explode. So sin on you Mr. Cinemasins
Chances are, if she returns her hair will remain blonde though :( (I mean look at Hayden Panettiere for Scream 6, actors don't really care all that much as much as we do)
Facts cuz they're the only two that was able to beat death at its own game
@@funwithanthony6133If i remember right in FD 3 u can See a newspaper stating that they died offscreen. So in Lore they died
Yea your right they died by falling into a wood chipper. @@SR-et2gz
AJ was in the most recent season of Criminal Minds, which was a decent season. I'm glad the series, at least didn't kill her off-screen, or with a brief cameo. Perhaps she's game, if it's a half-decent script.
I think according to Google Final Destination 6 is coming.....I hope it isn't made for Gen Z or with Gen Z actors
"6 duds all in a row? Never"
Obviously he's never seen Schindler's list. Ding
Also the fence death and the grill death were my favorites
@12:55 I always found the "we drove a long way to be here" explanation as to why something should go their way to be very superficial. If you drive a long distance to get to me and ask for anything - anything at all - I'm sending you home with nothing. I don't care the things you did for yourself, it's not on me to compensate you for something you did without discussing it first with me.
I bet you have debates with yourself on the toilet 😂
@@retsaMinnavoiG that's where I get all my best thinking done!
This movie series is the cause of my anxiety
And yet I still watch them every year
18:37
If you fucking paid attention to the movie, you'd know Clear isn't on the same list as the main characters here. She's the last of her own list.
So, her dying when Eugene dies is just Death killing two birds with one stone.
That's what he said and meant. You're too angry to listen clearly and only want to comment.
It's true, this came out before I could even drive but to this day if I see a log truck on the highway I try and get ahead of it as quick as I can before one inevitably get's shaken off and kills me
How to give an entire generation trust issues behind the wheel 😂
The Twitter joke at the start got me, a legitimate Laugh-out-loud moment. Thank you.
Being early is super easy, barely an inconvenience
Oh referencing a popular RUclips channel that makes fun of movies on another RUclips channel that also makes fun of movies is TIGHT
"No yelling on the BUS!" got me. I miss Farley
Miss you more
19:37 there is 180 sins… WTF
I think he forced it a little
Many years ago a logging truck was going the other way and a log fell off the side and was rolling towards me. Luckily the wide shoulder allowed me to go around it, but it was still scary af.
5:27 Approximately 165 miles per hour.
Yes!! Please give us more final destination sins!
