Just returned from a 12-day trip in Turkey...wonderful country, warm, hospitable people, marvellous food...your tips have been extremely helpful all along...thanks a ton Bery
I used to think that Turkey was a Middle Eastern country 🙃 As far as I can understand, Turks are more of a mixture of Balkans, Europeans, Caucasians and Asians, while Kurds are the Middle Easterners of the country. 1) If you look carefully at the architecture from the Ottoman period, you can see bird nests carved into stone on the walls and cavities made in the ground for water to accumulate when it rains and for animals to drink water from there. 2) Yes, Türkiye is the country that consumes the most cigarettes in the world. There is also a saying about this in Italy: 'fumare come un turco' (to smoke like a Turk). 3) Our love for tea dates back hundreds of years to the days when we were neighbors with China. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I suggest you do some research on Turk history (Hiung-nu, Göktürks, Karakhanids and Seljuks) and other Turkish-speaking countries (Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Yakuts, Uighurs and other minority groups.) 4) the name of the toilet is alaturka. (it is not a Turkish word) 5) Our country has not had an official religion since 1923, approximately 85 percent of the population is Muslim, but most of the believers are not sensitive about religion (alcohol, prayer, tobacco, veiling, etc.) This is because we converted to Islam later and come from a very different culture (nomadic-warrior) but I can understand why people think that headscarves are compulsory in Türkiye, but it's really a ridiculous idea. Just like this, I don't even mention those who think we ride camels (I saw it once in my life in the eastern region of Turkey) and speak Arabic. Our language is Turkish, which is one of the oldest languages in its current version. When we read a monument (Orkhon inscriptions) engraved on stone in Mongolia 1500 years ago, we can easily understand it 30 percent of the time. We can understand books from 1000 years ago by 60 percent, and we can understand poems from 500 years ago by 80 percent. I think we are very lucky in this regard. 6) Since culture and history gush out from every corner of our country, this is very normal for us and we feel the need to introduce only the most magnificent ones. While walking on a street in Ankara, you may suddenly come across the ruins of a Roman bath. 7) The Turkish phenotype is not just about black hair and black eyes. If you look at the Turks in Central Asia, you will understand them more easily because they have not mixed with other peoples as much as we do. For example, my grandmother is Turkmen (the name given to nomadic Turks during the Ottoman period) and she has blonde hair, blue eyes, high cheekbones and almond eyes, and like her most of turkish Yörük's (Turks who still living like a nomad like my grandmothers family elders) are brown and blond hair. Speaking specifically about Turkey, as you mentioned, we are very different from everyone else, and the reason is obvious, our geography is in the heart of the world, and it is a region that hosted a Turkish empire (Ottoman Empire) that ruled over 2 continents. 8) What can I say? The greatest leader of the 20th century, an intellectual who wrote many books and spoke many languages, a very successful soldier, a marshal, a father, the father of the Turks. 9) Actually, we have one desert, the Karapınar desert in Konya. I don't know how big it is but I guess not much. 10) And as a Turk and someone who has traveled many places, I say again that I have only seen a camel once in my life, in the eastern region. and camels are used only in some fairs. Other than that, we have NO camels!! THANK YOU :)
I was there a week ago and i prefer squat toilet as i dont like sitting on a yucky toilet bowl. Yeah, dogs and cat were nice fat and friendly. I am so happy that i went there and my experience were fabulous. I still cant get over it until now.
Yeeees, it's so beautiful ❤. I also came back two weeks ago and I am still overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and hospitality of İstanbul. I plan to come back in spring.
I would also add the yoghurt drink, ayran. Everybody is drinking it. I got hooked on it too and drink it almost daily. Very healthy and refreshing. Btw soğuc baklava is also amazing, in my opinion it’s the best dessert in the world. I believe it’s a Turkish invention. I love everything Turkish. Stunning country, amazing culture, food, and traditions, wonderful people.
🌹 Mustafa Kemal Atatürk 🌹 Please be assured that Atatürk is respected all over the word. Our highest respect to that Great man, Atatürk, from Australia.
As a Turkish we have at least 2 cats in our apartment, the third cat is coming time to time 😂 the orange one followed the döner delivery guy and came inside of my house yesterday. My boyfriend had a hard time to protect our döners and took the cat out. The cat couldn’t steal our food. Our cats are very well fed and takan care of by neighbours. There are cat food everywhere, they are full but they choose to eat kebaps like us 😂 We don’t know who took them in our building but I want them to sleep inside in winter. The white cat is very friendly and I scratch him a few times in a week 🥰
Been living here for 2 months and love it. I drink ayran to start and chai after eating. The way they cook their chicken is amazing, as well as lamb, though I’m not a fan of every lamb (it doesn’t have that taste if it is a male baby lamb). Overall the country is beautiful and the people are very friendly. I’m looking forward to next few years working here. On the toilets I prefer the bidet toilet that allows you to stay clean; wish other countries used this.

Thank you for this and all your videos on Turkey! I got engaged there this past February in Instanbul. We stayed at The Golden City Hotel. We loved everything about Istanbul. I was also on my way to UB Mongolia this past July and had an opportunity to visit the city again! Your video's are very informative and enjoyable. Keep up the good work!
Just came back from a 17 days trip in Turkey, now I understand why during 10Nov the national flags were half-mast. It is an amazing country, and we have learnt some basic Turkish with your another video which is really helpful. Thank you and keep up the good work :)
Love this culture of taking care of cats and dogs hope this animal love spread all over the world, this is how you judge a culture, is how they take care of their animals ❤
Sushmita: very interesting facts about the diversity of Turkiye. Returned recently from a 12 day tour which was magic, unforgettable and truly amazing ❤ All my questions have been answered Bery and thank you so much 🙏 ❤
Tea culture is very nice! I agree with you about public toilets!!!Anyway Turkey is a wonderful country, very colourful with amazing sceneries and if the local population take care about stray dogs, they would not be a problem for us.Thank you very much for al this info, very helpful indeed.
Last year was the first time I saw in a dizi (yargı) the city of İstanbul come to a standstill and I was honestly so moved by that.😢🙏🏾 I hope if you and your husband find yourselves filming that morning, if you could film the "ambience" of the moment from a local's perspective (respectively).. it would be so cool to see (again, respectfully). A bit behind on my Watchlists, but I loved this video!❤❤

I will be in Istanbul this summer, coming from Canada, and watching your vids helps a lot. Thank you! Just the squat toilet, though cause I've lived in Taiwan, and in mainland China, and the Philippines as well, (I don't know about any other Asian countries.) and I can say many (if not majority of) households use squat toilets.
What an interesting video! Il be in istanbul on the 10th of Nov for my birthday, had I not watched this video, I was going to be confused to what's going on when the sirens go off. I love your content❤

There is an old saying we have here. "The Lord works in mysterious ways.." I just began watching this particular video and tears to my eyes. I only discovered your beautiful channel abt 10 mins ago and I've already downloaded abt 7 videos. That's an entire story in and of itself bcs.. I'll be right back. Rain and a dog🙄😁🙌
I am watching this just to feel good about my country, and it did not dissapoint😊 Mexico is the same in many ways, I entered from Chiauahua, and went all the way to Guatemala on a moto. Mexican people and food was great and diverse, and hospitable. Everone always invited me to stay, it was almost a given when I arrived at a small town. I love Mexico and Mexicans.
Well mission done.😁 But yes I fell in love with the country thru just observing the background as I began engaging in a wonderfully unexpected Turkish drama and what's unfolded since well... Ah but the animals..🙏🏽❤️Bless your hearts. My niece will crack up if she saw this video, for she'd be like "You better not visit there"😂 For I'll greet and have to play with every single animal I met. I've a walk in zoo here.🙄😁 People abandon em. They find me. The dog Happy arrived abt a week ago.🙄😁🙏🏽❤️
My family and I just got back to the States from Turkiye. My wife and kids were amazed by the stray pets. Not stray animals, mind you. They are "Community PETS". Dogs will literally walk right up to you wagging their tails and asking for nothing more than a quick rub on the head. Then they nudge you as if to say "thank you" and walk away wagging their tails again. Cats and Dogs are even friendly with one another, just as they would be if they lived in your home. They don't seem to know they are on the streets. They think every person is their owner. When I saw a "free" animal walking by one on a leash, in my mind, I imagined they felt sorry for the one on a leash.
Hello Bery! Thank you so much for all this valuable information. I will be in Istanbul in two weeks and wanted to know if you have any recommendations where to buy gold and clothes in tue city. Thank you in advance!
Hi, I'm not Bery, but I came back from İstanbul two weeks ago. There is a street market between the Grand Bazar and the Spice Bazar, where I've seen the locals also bying their clothes. Just start from Grand bazar and walk. There are also a lot of bazars in the individual districts that are much cheaper.
I am Australian Turkish , i love 🇹🇷 , Amazing country to visit or live. ❤ However I struggled as non smoker. Everyone smokes 🚬 next to you. It's like 90's. Rules needs to be implemented not to smoke even outdoors cafes restaurants and beaches
@BeryIstanbulTips Could you please make a video on renting an apartment , studio and sharing rooms. How to rent? what is the rent? This is needed for those who is coming istanbul for work. please please.
I love Turkish cuisine but I have to confess that I didn't like the texture of the chicken breast dessert 😅. Another interesting thing for me is that they use a lot of wet wipes to clean their hands in the restaurants.
4 месяца назад
1) Huge level of fast food eaten with hand 2) Majority of the small restaurants doesn't have restrooms That's why wet wipes are common
There are three stages to understanding the dessert tavuk göğsü (chicken breast). When we were kids, we thought it was made from chicken because of its name. As we grew older and learned the difference between a dessert and chicken, we naturally assumed it couldn’t possibly contain chicken and that it was just a name. But the real shock comes later when you find out that it actually is made from chicken breast. How could it be? Is this delicious dessert really made from chicken? 🤯😅
Hi Beryl, I’m planning a visit to Istanbul in the first week of Nov 2023. Is it safe to travel to Istanbul right now given the current crisis in the Middle East? Any advice will be most welcome.
Hi Berry, my wife and I would like to purchase genuine leather products while we are in Istanbul. We are interested in buying purses/ hand bags, bag packs, wallets and etc. thanks. Oscar
It is true,Mexico still behind understanding cats and dogs, just recently visited Creel Chihuahua,Mexico, there are hundreds of homeless and starving beautiful dogs roaming the streets and the citizens of that town are blind and impervious to the suffering of the animals; they don’t feed the dogs roaming the streets, no water to drink, no medical attention . Heartbreaking!
Hi, can you tell us where is the good place to buy genuine leather products such as purses, wallets and bag pack with reasonable price? We have been in the Asian side for the past 5 weeks and staying in the Moda area. Thanks in advance for your help! Ciao…..
My best advice and as someone who suffers the same, it triggers my cough attacks and must use inhalator afterwards, at restaurants or coffee shops, I always seat inside, and in public areas I try to stay away from people smoking near me.
Do you know why in turkey people drink so much tea especially in summer in hot weathers? There is an adverb in turkey as follows; Tea keeps you from overheating. Tea called as çay in turkish and çay has two means; tea and small river. Actually the adverb tells about small river but turks misunderstand it as tea for centuries 😀
Only thing I got shocked about is the customer service. There is no greeting or smiling unless you greet them first. I'm of Turkish descent but born and raised in Australia and there is a code of conduct whereby friendly customer service is standard. So to not be greeted with a smile is so foreign to me. Having said that this was not always the case but when it was, I just considered it plain rude.
What might surprise you: the bible- especially the new testament is talking a lot about places in turkiye. Paul was traveling trough turkish citys and preaching the gospel:)
Smoking is a societal issue in Turkey. Most of these people start smoking in high school(despite it being illegal to sell to minors most stores do. Also some adults just hand out cigarettes to the young without second thought.) some teachers even started to say that smoking is increasing even in middle(grade 5-8) school. Teens start smoking to "fit in". I did not smoke in high school and actively denied most of my friends offering me cigarettes. It led to me being excluded from the group of smokers and thus most of my classmates. My classroom had 35 students. And I have been friends with 8 guys and spoke with 2 girls but we "non-smokers" were intentionally excluded by the smokers group self-nicknamed "Those who burn"(yanıcılar) group consisting of 1 girl and 25 guys. I graduated high school 4 years ago but I am still having trouble socializing since smokers are majority. They do not invite me to cafes I either say "pls don't smoke" or even if I say "ok you can smoke" they think I am not "manly" since I cough and get watery eyes when the wind changes direction and blasts me with smoke.
Merhaba! Your input as a young Turk about the smoking issue in Türkiye is so valuable and eye-opening! I never thought it could even reach that degree of excluding non-smokers from a group and from hanging out too, and I see even more pressure to fit in that many start smoking even if they didn’t really desire it at first. I hope this smoking situation specially among very young generations is more regulated and taken care of, it seems to be getting out of control and I’m also shocked when I see maybe 14yo or younger already smoking, I live near a high school and when I’m out while they are leaving their school premises I see most of them walking with a cigarette in their hands 🥺 And never get discouraged if someone thinks that you’re not ‘manly’ enough just because you don’t smoke or you feel bad when getting the second-hand smoke, those things really happen and also second-hand smoke triggers many other health issues like asthma and many (this happened to me 3 years ago and now I’m dealing with it still), I’m very sensitive towards second hand smoke and it immediately triggers cough attacks, and a wizzing noise when breathing, sometimes I even have to use my inhalator, my husband who’s a Turk is a non-smoker also and has never smoked in his life despite all his family and relatives being hardcore smokers. We are a minority in a country where smoking is already a big part of their culture and society, but don’t get discouraged, be proud of it, at some point you’ll find more friends who have your same lifestyle. 🫶❤️
They were probably uncomfortable about making you uncomfortable, at least that's how i feel around non-smokers. When i know they dont like the smell or the smoke or in general they don't like anything to do with it, i refrain from going out much. Not to exclude but don't want to make people uncomfortable also be comfortable myself. And smoking doesn't make anyone manly dude, I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
Well, if you can avoid the smoke you'll outlive them all. Most will have a horrible death from lung cancer & various other cancers. Also it's a sure way for a woman to lower the IQ of her unborn baby. It's a huge burden to the health care system, that's why it's been basically banned in most countries that have 'free health care" such as Canada, the Nordic countries etc. People can smoke but they can only do so outside and away from where other people are & in their homes.
Heres something off topic that you may find interesting. :) The name of my country has nothing to do with the interesting and delicious bird 'turkey'...... .....but the name of the bird does have a connection with the name of my country, let me explain. :) In the past 40 years 37 countries have changed their name, partially or fully. Obviously one can not change the name of an apple or an orange etc in other languages, but country names are like peoples' individual names, so if you're named John we don't call you Karen. :) Name of my country has always been Türkiye, it's been known as such since around the 1200's. The name it self has a suffix, '-iye', that is Turk-iye, where the -iye suffix means 'land of/belonging to', just like the Latin suffix of '-ia', which exists in such country names like Austr-ia, Austral-ia, Indones-ia etc. Basically, the use of '-iye/-ia' is the same as the the use of '-land' suffix in country names like Ire(Eire)-land, Po(le)-land, Eng(Anglo)-land and so on and so on. Many would remember the country Czechoslovak-ia which changed it's name to Czech Republic and a few years ago changed that to Czechia (that is Czech-ia). The Latin suffix -ia probably originates from Turkish -iye as Turkish been over 10,000 years is much older than Latin which is around 1300 years old. Spelled in different languages in different ways to phonetically resemble (to sound like) 'Türkiye' we got various spellings like; Turq-uía (in Spanish), Turch-ia (in Italian), Turq-uie (in French) Turk-ei (in German) Turk-ey (in English) Mind you this was way before the animal we currently know as turkey was found by the europeans when they explored the north americas. The bird was first sent to europe from north americas in the year 1519, so up until that point there was no bird named turkey.... ...they came across the bird and thought it was a specie of the fowl/chicken they had been buying from the country of Turkiye at the time, so they named the bird 'Turkey Fowl' to define 'Turkish Chicken'... ....just like how a dog breed is known as German Shepherd (because it's from Germany), American Bulldog, British Terrier, Greek Harehound etc etc. In time you don't get to call the harehound simply as Greek or you don't call the terrier Britirsh, or shepherd as simply German, but in time the Turkish Fowl started to be called just 'Turkey' and later 'turkey', and this went on for hundreds of years. Now in modern times, this caused confusion, especially when we have people across the world unable to point to their own country on an atlas. Basically we didn't change the name of our country, we changed the mistake made in the English language. : ) So, there's some tid bit information for you to have a great day, if you read upto this point you have a great night too, ohh just have a wonderfull life. : ) Best wishes. ;)
On an English language keyboard, this funny name cannot even be spelled. Most nations simply accept that abroad, the name of their country is different.
If you had known how to use a keyboard correctly, you could have written it easily. Just go and learn how to use a keyboard, it is a basic skill in this century
You can't smoke ındoors ,IF you smoke ın the restaurants you have to pay a fine And there ısn't only one type toılet ,you can use this or the others, too.

Thank you for sharing

nice presentation, well done
I was there a week ago and i prefer squat toilet as i dont like sitting on a yucky toilet bowl. Yeah, dogs and cat were nice fat and friendly. I am so happy that i went there and my experience were fabulous. I still cant get over it until now.
Yeeees, it's so beautiful ❤. I also came back two weeks ago and I am still overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and hospitality of İstanbul. I plan to come back in spring.
Aww how lovely to hear that!!!
I was surprised to see a la turca toilets also exist in the east, like in Taiwan, China, etc.
Merhaba Bery, Ülkemizin tanıtımına yapmış olduğun katkıdan dolayı çok teşekkürler. Bir sonraki video'da görüşmek üzere.
Türkiye is full of history and beauty

Sounds good
If someone had only 1 day to spend in instanbul what are the main destinations someone should see?
I already have a video on that topic:

@@bigpump9483 if you’re on the historic peninsula on west side of Golden Horn, (we stayed at a hotel there, not expensive but very nice) and walked to Topkapi, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, and Grand Bazaar. Start early to beat crowds. We left around 0700 and by 0900 crowds were starting to gather….you can also pay inexpensive tour guide to beat lines, get to front.

Animals are being slaughtered, my friend is now leaving there after 20 year's as cant stand whats happening.
shes terrified for her cats.
Sushmita: very interesting facts about the diversity of Turkiye. Returned recently from a 12 day tour which was magic, unforgettable and truly amazing ❤ All my questions have been answered Bery and thank you so much 🙏 ❤
Many many thanking you to described about your countries.I think Turkeyis natural environment is well.
Tea culture is very nice! I agree with you about public toilets!!!Anyway Turkey is a wonderful country, very colourful with amazing sceneries and if the local population take care about stray dogs, they would not be a problem for us.Thank you very much for al this info, very helpful indeed.
It’s lovely and very nice culture of helping animals,it’s sad I can’t find this culture in my country.
Atamızdan bahsetmiş olman beni çok mutlu etti ❤
I will experience that 10-Nov.. because i will be there in that days.. thanks for the info! ☺️ your vlog is really helpful..

I will be in Istanbul on 10th November. Thanks a lot Bery.
Follow her tips and everything in your trip will go well I’m telling you by experience.
you are lucky that you are visiting turkiye
Bery you are shinning star, always gives very good information. Thanks
I remember in my childhood, there was also icecreams made with chickend breast, which does not taste like chicken but the dessert. I loved those too.
Thank you for the video, Bery❤
Hello, we are coming to İstanbul in November. We love Turkey. Thanks for usefull information. Güle güle.

Love to Türkiye, country of love
Loving your videos! Saludos desde Arizona.

In Greece we call squat toilets "turkish toilets"! We use to have them in public venues, but not anymore.
Türkiye completed 100 years on 29 of nov
Being uncomfortable around dogs, should I be concerned about interactions with them if I just ignore them?
If you ignore them they won't go near you at all.
Don't be concerned.
They won’t do anything if you. I just came back from my trip a week ago.
Thanks Bery. You put them in a very 'simple and sweet' way. I'm watching a lot of Turkiye Drama, here I do learned about this unique land-people. ❤❤
What a nice and well-prepared account and presentation. I thank you as a Turk. Bravo!❤🖐🌹
Just came back from your country … beautiful country
Great video.
Just back from Turkey on 15th November. It's an expensive country but beautiful. Different landscape n no not all people r friendly.
Very nice information thanks ❤
Very interesting ❤❤❤ good show 🎉🎉🎉 thanks a stack 😂😂
God damn im born in Antalya and drinking tea while watching this vid
Hahahahahahahaha😅😂😅😂☕️
I am Australian Turkish , i love 🇹🇷 , Amazing country to visit or live. ❤
However I struggled as non smoker.
Bery travel is it to buy a plain gold necklace is Istanbul...Any recommendation?
Something to wear with a pendant
Thanks
So spot on!
I love Turkish cuisine but I have to confess that I didn't like the texture of the chicken breast dessert 😅. Another interesting thing for me is that they use a lot of wet wipes to clean their hands in the restaurants.
1) Huge level of fast food eaten with hand
2) Majority of the small restaurants doesn't have restrooms
That's why wet wipes are common
There are three stages to understanding the dessert tavuk göğsü (chicken breast). When we were kids, we thought it was made from chicken because of its name. As we grew older and learned the difference between a dessert and chicken, we naturally assumed it couldn’t possibly contain chicken and that it was just a name. But the real shock comes later when you find out that it actually is made from chicken breast. How could it be? Is this delicious dessert really made from chicken? 🤯😅
14:56 in India on 30th January we do the same . 1 minute complete silence.
4:20 it's very common in India .
Hi Beryl, I’m planning a visit to Istanbul in the first week of Nov 2023. Is it safe to travel to Istanbul right now given the current crisis in the Middle East? Any advice will be most welcome.
Türkiye is a safe contry. 45 million turists come to Turkiye every year. See you at Turkiye❤
Don't be afraid about this, no one will dare to fight Turkey, my country is really safe, the only thing you will find in Turkey is hospitality
14:08 ATATÜRK ❤❤
thankyou for you video, i think that tuchia is a good land
Teşekkurler Berry❤️
Sometimes I wish my country had stray animals like that. But obviously its impossible, too cold here. I cant wait to travel to Turkiye.
"You don't look Turkish". That happens to us Mexicans as well XD "You don't look Mexican". Me gustó el video, gracias.
I feel you! It happens often to me too and people always get surprise when I tell them I’m from Mexico. Thank you Hollywood for the stereotypes! 😅

Is it safe to use jewelry made out of gold in the streets? Since there are so many shops, perhaps this is common?
I have Yugoslavian, Albanian and Bulgarian heritage as well as Turkish. Many people are like me
Hi, can you tell us where is the good place to buy genuine leather products such as purses, wallets and bag pack with reasonable price? We have been in the Asian side for the past 5 weeks and staying in the Moda area. Thanks in advance for your help! Ciao…..
Thanks 😊😊😊
The Cay is delicious
3:25 same for indians as well. we drink tea in hot summer as well
Ive seen squat toilets even in a Bistrot in Paris😮
I have allergies and strong reaction to smoking. My last trip in Romania I got sick. Any advice on handling the smoke issue in Istanbul?
My best advice and as someone who suffers the same, it triggers my cough attacks and must use inhalator afterwards, at restaurants or coffee shops, I always seat inside, and in public areas I try to stay away from people smoking near me.
Türkçe alt yazı neden yok acaba😊
So true about the squat toilets.it's
That's right 👍 Christianity first spread there.
Paul was born in Tarsus. İt is in turkey
Santa Claus also lived in Turkey in ancient times
Wow i would like to be in the Country on Nov 10th to experience this.
Please come, what you will see will surprise you and you will love it🇹🇷❤
Nice 🙂 video 📷📸
I hope this smoking situation specially among very young generations is more regulated and taken care of, it seems to be getting out of control and I’m also shocked when I see maybe 14yo or younger already smoking, I live near a high school and when I’m out while they are leaving their school premises I see most of them walking with a cigarette in their hands 🥺
And never get discouraged if someone thinks that you’re not ‘manly’ enough just because you don’t smoke or you feel bad when getting the second-hand smoke, those things really happen and also second-hand smoke triggers many other health issues like asthma and many (this happened to me 3 years ago and now I’m dealing with it still), I’m very sensitive towards second hand smoke and it immediately triggers cough attacks, and a wizzing noise when breathing, sometimes I even have to use my inhalator, my husband who’s a Turk is a non-smoker also and has never smoked in his life despite all his family and relatives being hardcore smokers.
The level of patriotism and hospitality is curiously high.
in the Istanbul metro I saw a dog who was going somewhere on his business sitting on a seat 😳
You know Berry!
Santa Claus also lived in Turkey in ancient times
Antalya Demre'de 😊
10 minutes taxi drive and they're dying for a smoke 😂. And those taxi guys cheat so much. Love Istanbul ❤
Heres something off topic that you may find interesting. :)
The name of my country has nothing to do with the interesting and delicious bird 'turkey'......
.....but the name of the bird does have a connection with the name of my country, let me explain. :)
In the past 40 years 37 countries have changed their name, partially or fully.
Obviously one can not change the name of an apple or an orange etc in other languages,
but country names are like peoples' individual names, so if you're named John we don't call you Karen. :)
Name of my country has always been Türkiye, it's been known as such since around the 1200's.
The name it self has a suffix, '-iye', that is Turk-iye, where the -iye suffix means 'land of/belonging to',
just like the Latin suffix of '-ia', which exists in such country names like
Austr-ia, Austral-ia, Indones-ia etc.
Basically, the use of '-iye/-ia' is the same as the the use of '-land' suffix in country names like
Ire(Eire)-land, Po(le)-land, Eng(Anglo)-land and so on and so on.
Spelled in different languages in different ways to phonetically resemble (to sound like) 'Türkiye'
we got various spellings like;
Turq-uía (in Spanish),
Turch-ia (in Italian),
Turq-uie (in French)
Turk-ei (in German)
Turk-ey (in English)
Mind you this was way before the animal we currently know as turkey was found by the europeans when they explored the north americas.
In time you don't get to call the harehound simply as Greek or you don't call the terrier Britirsh, or shepherd as simply German,
but in time the Turkish Fowl started to be called just 'Turkey' and later 'turkey', and this went on for hundreds of years.
Now in modern times, this caused confusion, especially when we have people across the world unable to point to their own country on an atlas.
Basically we didn't change the name of our country, we changed the mistake made in the English language. : )
So, there's some tid bit information for you to have a great day, if you read upto this point you have a great night too, ohh just have a wonderfull life. : )
Best wishes. ;)
On an English language keyboard, this funny name cannot even be spelled. Most nations simply accept that abroad, the name of their country is different.
If you had known how to use a keyboard correctly, you could have written it easily. Just go and learn how to use a keyboard, it is a basic skill in this century
Good
You forget 23 th of April. And praying time you can hear the Azan from every single mosque.

Great video but western style toilets are standart and are more common than the other type, 😊
You can't smoke ındoors ,IF you smoke ın the restaurants you have to pay a fine And there ısn't only one type toılet ,you can use this or the others, too.
Makes perfect sense: cats and dogs help to keep cities from being overrun with rodents.
In my country both of them 🇵🇰
your Turkish word pronunciation is better then standard Türk
Same type toilet in India but people move towards american types toilet seat
