    Best thing for a Turbo would be just find a 9700 ford turbo engine and transplant it to the 8700 since they are the same basic tractor or just see if you can get Garret or a Rebuilt Rayjay M&W from Genuine Diesel. I would also see if you can add a good icebox intercooler and a water injection system to keep from burning the pistons

    One thing to note. These are parent bore blocks not sleeved blocks. The turbo engine have different piston to wall clearances for each cylinder do to how the intake was set up. If you slap a turbo on that old worn out turd you most likely wont have any issues but if you freshen it up make sure your machine shop bores it correctly. That pump is pretty easy to turn up but was limited in capacity. Good luck.

    • @countryboysteve
      @countryboysteve 5 лет назад

      Does that one have the sims or cav

    • @countryboysteve
      @countryboysteve 5 лет назад

      That should have the cav minimec pump on it. If I remember correctly the top screw you pointed to is the rack total travel screw and there should be another screw on that end of the pump that is the total fuel screw. That pump is one that needs to be tuned on a dyno because it will increase power for a while then will just black stack and begin to loose power. It is a dance between rack travel and total fuel in order to get them to increase. Another way you know that you have adjusted to far is that once you adjust the rack travel to far it will not come back to a full idle.

      We had a Ford 5000, top speed was ~22mph. When you were in 8th gear and high rpms, I slowed down to almost stopped by just closing the throttle. Then gear down, it could be a little more tricky in FL, but still doable. Get on it and ride.

Lower ratings on the 7.8, and I think all of the truck application 6.6's used the P-3000. I'm not familiar with the N/A versions, so I won't even speculate what pump is on your tractor.
