- A few weeks ago, I sold a 1958 Impala and delivered it to the customer. Along the route, I found this 1965 Chevrolet c10 truck and just had to have it. The patina is super nice, and the truck is fairly solid, all things considered. The truck also has a title and was converted to HEI some time in its past. With only a little effort, this c10 came back to life, and after fighting the carburetor for a bit, we got it dialed in and now it runs flawlessly!

So many people lower them or jack em up to the sky I'd like to see one actually fixed up stock for a change 👍
Oh for sure
Brings back memories of the farm truck we had in South Dakota from 1966-1978: a 66 Chevy C20 with a 292 and 4-speed. It was red/orange in color. Over the years I have grown to appreciate the Fords trucks of that period but still highly prefer the Chevys.
glad you enjoyed!
I like stock hight but it's a comfort thing, when they lower the rigs then you feel all the hole's you drive over on the dirt roads, at 120km/h about 70mph hit a wash out, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks Don!
The 65 truck since it's mostly original I would keep stock rebuild the engine add some horsepower and restore the rest. Nice truck Ryan.
Oh for sure, it runs great with that old inline 6
I like your truck, Ryan! 1966 was the first year for the 250 I-6. The one in yours appears to be newer than your truck though, looks like maybe an early 70’s 250. I hope you get the carb sorted out soon. They run forever! Good luck with it!
Thanks for the info!
That's a sweet old truck! Love it!
Thanks man
Are you allowed to use metal cutlery unsupervised?
Not usually lmao thanks for the smartass comment tho
Nice score there. A vintage truck like yours and a nice patina go together like peanut butter and jelly.
I agree John!
for sure they do!
Now that would make a GREAT Throttle Power Shop Truck!!! 👍👍
Oh yeah!
@@IowaClassicCars 👍🙂
Mr. B. Here ! Very nice looking truck , needs some love ❤ !
Yes it does!
Mr. B. Here ! Tune up , coolant service , full brake service . Drive !
thanks!
@@IowaClassicCars You are welcome ! As a old guy who feels doing the right thing by many of these vehicles keeps us all knowing what can before ! I know that there are folks who would be very , very happy to see these vehicles turn into tuna cans ! Hope all is going well at ICC at this time . Thank you
Ryan, you have the patience of a saint..how exasperating.
Glad ya got it running..
thanks Kim
you are putting in way to much gas you should fill the vent of the carb with gas which goes to float bowl that will let it run and idle for a bit till bowl is empty
Hi Ryan, really enjoy your videos. As a teaching moment, it's always better to hook up the positive to the battery first, and then the negative. If you do it the other way, you will get a spark when touching the positive. More dangerous when you have fuel and flammable stuff nearby. Have a good one and pet Felix for me!
thanks Bill!
Nice truck, but I see you are moving slowly to strictly Cat videos 😂😂😂
Haha nah just like to include him
Wow, this was very painful to watch, no plan, no prep work, what a needless struggle, poor truck, hope it went to a good home.
Thanks for the insightful comment lmao
Does your original temp gauge read accurate? Mine stays low even on hot days? I ground wire but only moves 1/4. Any suggestions?
Send it off to get rebuilt. I wouldnt trust an original 50 yr old guage
My dad had a 63 when I was a kid and we let me drive it around the dump when we go. Great trucks!
Thanks for watching
If I were you, I would let my BEST FRIEND, MICHAEL BROWN take it off my hands! Haha!
It is for sale lol
@@IowaClassicCars what are you looking to get for it?
Great video love the old chevy trucks
Thanks man
Sweet Six
Oh yeah
Glas you got it running. Keep it like it is and keep it stock
That's the plan!
Sweet truck from KS! Nice job Norm! Go Felix go!
thanks!
u dont need 1st unless u r pulling or hevy stuf in it
That six runs real nice. That 1st gear is a granny gear for pulling something heavy. Try taking off in second. Great video!
Thanks will do!
Yeah, first gear is just stump puller or for hauling hay out in the field
I think I'd change the engine to your preference if you want a sport truck. However I would repair the rust, paint it and get disc brakes up front at least. Redo the bed as well. For me I would go with whatever is cheaper between wood and metal in the bed. Also, no matter what, I would change the carb. Or fix it to stay with a straight 6. Real nice truck either way. It's in surprising shape!
good call!
The truck is nice, looks like all the pieces are there to
Man ... y'all running up the price of every old vehicle
Now every one up north gonna want 25k for a four flat rusted out junk on marketplace
haha sorry, if im not selling, someone else will be!
Great job as always!
I appreciate that!
Just found the channel I love it! New sub from Alaska, do you watch or communicate with Kevin from junkyard digs on RUclips? Might be beneficial friendship I'm pretty sure he's somewhere in Iowa
Thanks Norm! Ive never worked with Kevin but hes pretty close to me
And kitty said I’m out lol. I love that he’s an important part of your life. I’m a dog person though. That old truck is a sweetheart. I would restore it. I don’t know about an LS but a little 283 would be nice. Doesn’t look to bad besides the fenders how are the floors and rockers.
lol yea he wasnt a fan
Get it running good put some tires and square body rallies on it and eventually paint it the original color
That's cool stuff mate 🤣🤣
thanks Will
Did this truck come with a 283? I liked the video and thank you for sharing 🙏🙏
283 and 327 were both an option.
was optional
@@IowaClassicCars thx man
Hi Chevy C10 ! Nice to meet ya ! 4 speed floor mounted gb with a straight six is kind of unusual (I think?). Unless it;s truck-specific solution. Cool to see that you and Norm did convince the Chevy to run again. BTW, what equipment was not ordered on it, so there are only 2 slider regulators on the dash obviously 3 slashes for them ?
I believe that would be a deluxe heater option
Excellent video Ryan :) I was say check for choke knob dash pull away when crank over on 1 barrel carb push in till motor runs smoothly and leave out 1/8 on for 5 mins then push in to then feather gas pedal to when releasing clutch pedal in first gear then shift up gears too! That carb is sure old for nut adjustment type for sure too !
i wonder where the choke knob is on these trucks
@@IowaClassicCars think one knobs on near key ignition switch is may have pull if not maybe near right top side dash of cluster if not there may have Google Search for it !
Do just enough to start and run the truck and flip it. That truck needs thousands of dollars in repairs to be safe to drive. Flip it and use the money for a better vehicle.
the truck has been sold actually for over 4k, onto the next!
Just all kinds of fun. :) A friend of mine put a 396 with a 4 speed in a truck like yours. Made a hell of a sleeper hot rod.
Thanks Dennis!
I would keep it old school, 283 or 327, Some period correct wheels and new tires, fix what is broken and drive it
Yep, I agree Randy!
agreed!
Stock restore
for sure
Leave it stock
For sure
Leave it stock but fix it up a little. There are already too many of these customized and hot rodded.
thats no lie lol
Like those trucks I own 2.Just an FYI that engine is a mid 1970s integral head 250 cid.
thanks Nick!
Why don't you give it a gas tank first
no reason to spend money on a tank if it wont run
@@IowaClassicCars I thought no matter what has to be done the well be back on the road. By you are some one else and the cost to the price
Would make a nice original restoration or a driver. My '65 c10 I mechanically restored but left the body as is
Good call!
😎👍😎
Excellent job Ryan and nice truck !!! Congrats !!!
Thanks 👍
I guess Felix does not like R-I-D-E's like Duff does - LOL. That said, you sure have one sweet C10 as a shop truck - I am a fan. When I finally get my shop, I too will opt for a shop cat. I like dogs a lot, but I am a cat dude, so happier travels with Ryan, Felix! Hey, count me in as a "keep her stock" voter - that six sounds robust and ready to do parts store runs.
lol nah he was not a fan of the truck ride XD
