Alpha Male

Wapiti Lake Pack, alpha male was on a rare solo sojourn along the Yellowstone River one spring day. Perhaps he needed to take a break from playful pups? Alphas in wolf packs tend to hold their tails higher than do their pack mates, and lift their legs higher for a pee. Alpha females are also often seen lifting their legs, instead of squatting. Alphas will scent mark their territory and we see the male and female marking over each other. Seeing a wild wolf is an amazing experience and taking the time to get to know their habits and behaviors takes it to a much higher level.
