This is probably the sweetest version of this tune i've heard yet. it's got so much energ and a great groove. Perfect tempo where it doesnt drag but isn't really fast like the weckl band version. it sits perfectly. all soul! i love it
Wow !!! What a great version of this funk classic..I love all the band but I've been listening to Bugge Wesseltoft (keyb.),for 20 years check out his band New Conception of Jazz on Jazzland Records cool stuff
Personel on this set : Nils Landgren (trombone), Maceo Parker (alto sax), Bugge Wesseltoft (keyboards), Henrik Janson (guitar), Lars Danielsson (bass), Per Lindvall (drums), Ake Sundguis (drums, percussion) [source : www.vovoclip.com/video/19GG8385GG16JJCC56888A.html]
this is the really modern jazz,people can dance,swing and groove are always present,nebody is bored here,musicians and the rest of the people can shared the music.It's fantastic.The clonical and bored robots of the "Berklee school era" should to learn from this guys,it's a music party!
Very nicely put! Have fun - because that what music should be. I just don't *hear* that much fun coming out of music school grads these days. It's disappointing.
sorry, i have no time to do it now((( but i dont forget adout it - i shall post it and tell you web with concert.... i cant speak english:-D P.S. Im play on the guitar and bass, but not professional yet:-)
Strong skills, good energy, great talent but it could have been better with a more suitable trombone for this funk genre. Red trombone is more adapt to classic music and avant-garde genre.
One of the best characteristic of this song is for soloists to anticipate the key changes by two bars. Such a pleasure and luxury.
Simply a cool performance: those alto sax and tenor trombone merge together in a boostin sound and rhythm!!!!
I love the fact Maceo Parker presented himself in suit like an old school OG
Maceo got lost in that solo! He was really feeling it. No ones talking about this organ solo, super solid.

it really is! i do like moment of key change confusion. The keyboard solo is on another plane
Smokn' performance, smokin' bass player! That cat he get down hard!
The most 90s lookin' Band ever !

Ok... does anybody else notice the subtle Eb "oops" at 3:23... Bassist asserts the "death stare" and.... all is corrected.
@nimer42

oh yeah, 2 drummers, puh^^ as i heard this piece the first time, i wondered what a beast the drummer got to be. but anyway.. its possible. scary
Now, all the rap guys over there, notice that small difference between the real groove and drum samples in the machines...
This band sure Roars!!!
And that bassist, totally sexy outfit xD
bestias
I like the bassist in the back round

Maceo Parker,any relation to charlie? It'd make sense. They're both frickin awsome!!
i think that maceo had missed something he enterd the break in 1:38 to notes before the right break

@Andreeeiiii
hhhhh i know man funk is a great music i play alot of funk and i know what are you talking about :)
C'est très bien mais il manque Jaco Pastorius , d'ailleurs le bassiste est largement en retrait . Mais quelle composition ...superbe.
ce n'est pas une composition de pastorius
Maceo aka leather lips.
Who says white dudes can't play the fonk ? lol
he's thinking, where are fred and peewee.... who are these white people?
90's fashion that didn't age well, nr #1: leather vests.
