Eight years ago, I spent 6 months in this region with my comfortable motor yacht. I also know Séte very well, and as a Swiss, this town is typically called Swiss. Why? I don't know exactly. Port Saint Louis du Rhone was my “home port”. It was a particularly small town that suffered greatly from the economic crisis. But it was a wonderful time, just as you described. The return trip to Holland also took 8 weeks. With problems with the draught of 1.40 m in the canals, which were in very poor condition.
So interesting. I've been following your adventure because we're trying to decide whether we go through the canals or the long way around. Now i want to do both!
There is some beautiful parts either way! The hard part for us was the west coast of Portugal and then a boring part at costa del sol, otherwise we have enjoyed all of it😊
