How about spending time with the horse to builld some tolerance and trust before you go out and work it. Don't rush a horse. The less expectations you have the better the progress

Why are you moving so fast though. The horse just got out of the trailer, has no idea where it is and suddenly people start putting pressure on him.

It's mandatory by Blm that they have a lead on when they ship.

Why didn't you remove halter and lead rope. Not smart

Actually, for a mustang, it helps with the training.
They learn quickly to NOT step on the rope, and if you NEED to catch them you have a rope on them already.
I bought a semi wild abused mare........after chasing her for 3 hours I left a halter on her till he learned not to fear me so much.
As you can see in the video, the halter is being used to teach the mustang how to react to light pressure, like how a tame horse would.
When the mustang relaxes more/enough, you take the halter off as a REWARD.
MOST horses associate the halter with training and work, and some even enjoy the training under the right trainer.

You don't seem to know how to communicate with a horse the way a horse communicates with other horses. Very useful to know in working with a horse.
