Metaphorical - Shashtras also tell us about future, not only past - Canto 10 - All Krishna’s past time - Canto 11 - Preparing Parikshit for final calling, preparing him to renounce this world - Canto 11 - Uddhav Gita - Canto 12 - All the predications of Kaliyuga Maharj quoted SB 1.3.43 - Yamaraj’s questions to Yudhisthira Q - what’s the most amazing thing in the world ? A - Everyone is dying but we still think we’ll live forever Q - what’s more numerous than the grass on the earth ? A - material desires Q - what’s the faster than wind ? A - Mind Q - what’s heavier than the mountain ? A - love of the mother Q - what’s higher than mountain ? A - The respect that we give to our father A man came to meet Yudhisthira with some mysterious questions. Bhima stopped him at the door and he said ask me the same questions, I’ll answer Man : okay First questions - There was an Agricultural land surrounding with fence and this fence was moving in and eating crops, why is it so ? Second question - one man, has a full pot of water,he filled 8 glasses out of it and again put all this water back, this time the pot was half filled, what does it mean ? Third question - there was a man, he has a needle and through the eye of this needle he’s trying to pass an elephant and the amazing thing he put the elephant through the eye of needle and tail got stuck, what’s the meaning ? Fourth question - there was a big boulder, everyone was trying to push it but it didn’t move even an inch than Sadhu came there and he took a thread from his chaddar (scarf) and with this thread he moved the whole boulder, what’s this ? (Bhima couldn’t answer any question, so he let him in and when he came out Bhima asked, tell me the answers, then this man explained) Yudhisthira said : All of these are signs of Kaliyuga First answer - in Kali Yuga those people who are suppose to protect you, they will start taking everything from you, plunders you Second answer - In this age, relationship are very difficult. People want reciprocate as you wish. Selfishness creates hell and selflessness creates heaven. Third answer - Big thieves get through but the small one, they get caught. Emphasis on corruption. Fourth answer - As per SB, Kaliyuga is ocean of problems but still one good quality; all these problems can be moved only by holy name of Krishna by a saintly person. Symptoms of Kaliyuga - Religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, duration of life, physical strength and memory will diminish day by day - Law and justice will apply on the bases of power (financial) - Wealth will be considered the sign of good birth, proper behaviour and fine qualities - History was always written by winners, most powerful, aggressive person, doesn’t matter who is right - People will judge by your wealth - Man and women will live together for merely superficial attraction - Success in business will depend on deceit - Womanliness and manliness will be judged according to one’s expertise in sexual relation - Person’s spiritual position will be ascertained only by external symbols - One who is very cleaver juggling words will be considered learned scholar - Marriage will be arranged simply by verbal agreement - Person will think he is fit to appear in public if he has merely take a bath - Kali resides in three places - slaughter house, intoxication, illicit sec and meat eating and where there is gold - Three things are polluted by Kali - Object, places and personalities 2 kinds of people, who are in extreme: 1. Indifferent; those who are completely indifference to things around and 2. Intimidation; those who think that everything against me, I can’t do anything So in such case what we need to do : We should be informed with things around us Ex.
