When you talked about Japanese movies not being the greatest, my first two thoughts were "what about Miike and Kurosawah?" Guess I forgot Miike was involved with Terra Formars
Also I note that when Japan adapts a anime to live action, they always constantly mimic everything the anime does (from the tropes, cliches and other characteristics anime does like pausing after doing a attack, or standing still if something goes too fast). The first death with that couple, I laughed so loudly, the way she just dies after her neck gets broken is so hilarious and comedic. It was meant to be serious, but anime death done in live action is way too comedic and hilarious.
Yes there are far worse things to watch, my cousin made me sit down and watch the first Attack of the killer tomatoes movie- the stupid theme song is the only thing that slaps. The rest of the scenes are people being chased by rolling fruit sputtering gibberish 🤣
death note actually did get a great movie adaptation, you would probably enjoy the 2007 Japanese live action film and it's sequel "death note: the last name" which vastly improves the story of death note.
Speaking of live action adaptations, watching the live action version of Home Sweet Home on Netflix had me cry laughing and I couldn't breath. I am sorry but dramatic epica music playing over a muscle monster chasing a dude across a balcony and then in the next scene immediately going from epica music to imagine dragons is peak comedy, especially since its supposed to be horror.
What you mention towards the middle of the video is basically every anime/manga adaptation ever: they adapt what happens without knowing why. This happens in the manga, so it has to happen here even though the story is different...
Director to a diverse gymbro: "Hey wanna be an actor in my movie?" Gymbro:"sure mah ni**uh! Wat am i actin' as?" Director:"an alien cockroach" Gymbro:"aw shiiiieeeettt!"
Man, I totally would watch the previous video if only there was .. i dunno.. a link somewhere? Maybe like in the description? Or maybe a newfangled sidebar thing? Too bad none of that is possible at all.
That weird make up for the transformations is just giving me live action Devilman flashbacks. I mean I can appreciate the attempt since hey, monster make up is often rad. But its all just so "busy".
Hopefully people realise soon how little we like live action anime adaptations with some of Netflix's upcoming ones like one piece and (though I'm not 100% on if this is confirmed or not) my hero academia, as well as the complete failure that was cowboy bebop
It would have been cool if the roaches remained motionless until movement was necessary. And then similar to the animation, just show the aftermath after they start to move. That way you cut out on the silly looking motions they make, and also keep that element of tension and suspense. If I see a roach's eye slightly move, then a shot on it's foot begin to move, then show a rush of wind past a protagonist's face, I'm going to be hanging on that moment as I wonder who just took a hit. Then the reveal wide shot would be the payoff!
Cockroach bastards Also, I feel that the anime, manga and the movie is like some anti-doom where the enemy’s are somewhat stupidly op It’d be strange to see some fan-crossovers though (ideas: crysis/terraformars or Baki/terraformars)
Speaking of crysis, I have a character that might be a good idea Blue ring nomad Y/N was given nomads suit,(same method prophet did but instead of replacing you, they give their life to you instead) Notes: they are faster to evolve than prophet post-3 and uses self-made weapons(example major teeth and jaw upgrades to bite, electricity ,poison and claws) Blue right mode: a berserk rage mode which glowing blue rings are on the body, the muscles get bigger, the claws are bigger, slight head changes to allow the skull that is similar to venom’s head shape, the eyes are still the visor, the teeth are changed to be more interlocking and gets full control of the boosters to fly.
Actually the Terraformars movie was pretty good it has good animation lots of action the character designs were well done and it has good effects I looked up is Terraformars a good movie and it was actually really good and it did well in the box office go look it up yourself if you don't believe me
@15:41 - Yeah, so this effect reminded me of the CG in the 90s Spawn movie if they discovered bump mapping and lighting. That is not praise, it's lipstick on a very ugly pig.
I found the anime really stupid, why would they just give these powers to random people instead of trained soldiers? And why would some countries start to sabotage the mission when they clearly know the roaches mean to kill all humankind?
They are not all Japanese. There's a French lady, a Russian one, and a couple people speaking English. But they are all played by Japanese people, of course.
Maybe Takashi Miike had a bit of executive meddling with the gore. Netflix is okay with Castlevania and fantasy dead people gore, but not insect gore, apparently...

2016 was an awful time for people who liked dark anime
I only remember hearing this film from a game called No More Heroes 3. As well as everything else Miike made.
I saw the thumbnail and thought it was Obunga live action show.
Damn I can’t believe they made an entire multimedia franchise based on the Scary Obama picture.
Isn't that the point of the movie?
@@goosegas2087 It's so bad and not in a good way, it's an hour of my life I will never recover.
11:17 that’s a neck break with a finisher?
It wasn’t that bad... unless it wasn’t
O_o
Its only a matter before we get a live action Demonslayer.... Honestly if that happens I do not know what to say or think.
There is a live action KnY parody, its an Adult Video if that counts 😂 haha
I think Death Note would a great movie adaptation if it’s an original story, with Ryuk as the only original character from the manga/anime.
death note actually did get a great movie adaptation, you would probably enjoy the 2007 Japanese live action film and it's sequel "death note: the last name" which vastly improves the story of death note.
Aren't those the bug eaters from all tomorrows?
what's the movie with the blue heads at 1:58?
18:22
Count Dooku’s head be like
Director to a diverse gymbro:
"Hey wanna be an actor in my movie?"
Gymbro:"sure mah ni**uh! Wat am i actin' as?"
Director:"an alien cockroach"
Gymbro:"aw shiiiieeeettt!"
13:19 I noticed that they just ripped off the flying cop car from bladerunner and put it in this.
Am i the only one that thinks the big roaches look like the Obunga Meme from like 2 years ago
I just commented the same thing lmao
You gotta review Gantz!!
Bro the way you worded the part about elderly Japanese not seeing a white person in the flesh made it sound like we're pokemon
I'm surprised you did not mention Rurouni Kenshin when you were talking about good anime live-action adaptations
Did you see the Ruroni Kenshin live-action movies? I heard they're pretty good.
James gunn's the terraformers.... squad
7:26 Yo Spider-Man gonna fight some cockroaches
1:41 rorouni kenshin: Am I a joke to you?
Cockroach bastards
Also, I feel that the anime, manga and the movie is like some anti-doom where the enemy’s are somewhat stupidly op
It’d be strange to see some fan-crossovers though (ideas: crysis/terraformars or Baki/terraformars)
Speaking of crysis, I have a character that might be a good idea
Blue ring nomad
Y/N was given nomads suit,(same method prophet did but instead of replacing you, they give their life to you instead)
Notes: they are faster to evolve than prophet post-3 and uses self-made weapons(example major teeth and jaw upgrades to bite, electricity ,poison and claws)
Blue right mode: a berserk rage mode which glowing blue rings are on the body, the muscles get bigger, the claws are bigger, slight head changes to allow the skull that is similar to venom’s head shape, the eyes are still the visor, the teeth are changed to be more interlocking and gets full control of the boosters to fly.
Why is obunga in this movie?
Honda looks like the lead singer of AFI
At least there isn’t a Netflix adaptation.
Netflix' Cowboy Bebop: Are you sure about that?
Actually the Terraformars movie was pretty good it has good animation lots of action the character designs were well done and it has good effects I looked up is Terraformars a good movie and it was actually really good and it did well in the box office go look it up yourself if you don't believe me
@15:41 - Yeah, so this effect reminded me of the CG in the 90s Spawn movie if they discovered bump mapping and lighting.
That is not praise, it's lipstick on a very ugly pig.
thx for the video, iv now read the entire serie
I'm getting obunga flashbacks
I can’t believe they made yobunga real
I found the anime really stupid, why would they just give these powers to random people instead of trained soldiers? And why would some countries start to sabotage the mission when they clearly know the roaches mean to kill all humankind?
When I was 9 I lived in Japan. Yeah when you have blonde hair and blue eyes; you stick out like a thumb that has been in a blender!
Terraformers seriously remind me of obunga
Infact i think this is where obungas design probably came from
They are not all Japanese.
Hey just stop will you ever talk about the sonic boom TV show 😁😁😁
The Death Note live action films, (the ones made in Japan back in 2007), were also really good.
The roach monsters look like the antagonist in a NTR manga.
Not sure if you’ve played any of the yakuza games ( I mean there is yakuza music in your Videos but that doesn’t mean you’ve played the games) but you should review the live action yakuza movie
I only know about this movie because of No More Heroes 3. Even a Takashi Miike fanboy like Suda51 has to draw a line somewhere.
20:20 is the absolute reason I told you to watch it. xD
You spelled “Adaptation” wrong in the thumbnail.
5:48 - seems very much like they watched World War Z (or the trailers) and decided it would be awesome to do but anime. Which is fair, in principle.
Bleach was pretty good. The Hollows looked really spot on. And I liked FMA’s live action. I mean not nearly as much as the anime (Bleach either ofc) but I thought the effects were decent.
"stuff that will get me age-restricted like-"
tiktok ad
Ah yes the Obunga manga
So basically this is an inferior version of predators (2010)
