Haven't been able to catch these streams but it's been fun going from the internal screaming of the first few scenarios to this one where you kinda start putting things together! Shout out to the guys in chat trying to help without getting backseat-y. Sometimes you just need a sherpa to lend a hand! There's A LOT going on in this game versus HOMM2. Hopefully you don't get burnt out on it too fast!
For a lot of people Homm III is something they know better than they layout of their own home town and they finished these scenarios countless times. Don't take the backsitting too seriously they mean well, they are just a little weird about it 😅 Many would risk getting bonked on the head to get amnesia and experience this game for the first time again, take your time and enjoy the ride. ✌ (Also Capitol and Gold Gold Gold💰💰💰)
Heroes 3 is an interesting game to me. All the new stuff compared to Heroes 2 can really make a person think about the best ways to win as there are more path to victory and defeat, alike. If you took the 5 best players in the world, they will all tell you similar things, but each have little variations about how they go about doing it. I feel like it took me 5 years of playing this game until I had the same proficiency as a year of playing Heroes 2. Enjoy your stuff!
@@bulanet271 25 years and I still suck at H3... can't progress on the campaign like... 3-4 maps more :D still love it, have been on the music concert too!!
Hey man i see that you swtiched on homm3 however i know that you are new and i would only ask you why in the tactit phase you push the range unit ahead? maybe there is something that i don't know but so seems just that you expose them to the melee enemy units
In tactics you should usually turtle acess to your archers, with a few exceptions. However outside of tactics, in heroes 2 there's no ranged penalty across the field (aside castle walls) but in heroes 3 there is. You get in accurate shot range when you are 10 hexes away from your target however you should never move your archers forward, that's doing two bad things: you waste your turn and move them in range of the enemy as you said. Better to do half damage than no damage. Also waiting is a core mechanic of the game many ignore. You can often wait with the archers (if archers are faster than the enemy) and the enemy will come into your deadly range, then shoot them for full damage
I think you can block subterranean gates much like portals in Heroes 2 by just keeping a hero on there. But someone better confirm me on this. Also, you should never have to bless angels - they have a steady damage number that cannot be changed with curse or bless. Any creature that doesn't have a fork of damage is unaffected by those spells.
@@sengoku_finyou can block both since pretty much everything is activated on one square. Advanced and expert bless increases damage by 1, so angels would do 51, but yes it's no point using it
you know, this isn't too far off from how I played HoMM3 the first time. I also struggled for gold because I didn't understand the importance of economy. However, I hardly ever hired more than 2 heroes, so I was way worse
@@bulanet271 I didn't learn the importance of multiple heroes until 2010 or 2011 by taking part in a forum tournament and getting absolutely curbstomped within the first couple weeks. I'd been playing HoMM games for over a decade by that point too 😅
Eh, the art on this game....Even after a couple videos, it still isn't growing on me. All the monsters look distant and out-of-focus. The monsters of HoMM2 have so much more character, by comparison. Not really a commentary on the stream, just on the game itself...
That's very strange to me this is the first time seeing ppl not liking both h2 and 3. I grew up with 3, everyone has their favourite; but I enjoyed the cartoony look of h2. In fact I am playing heroes 3 succession wars mod, so I can have h2 on h3 mechanics. Played years of h2-h5 meanwhile maybe most agree that the ubisoft titles can be forgotten

Hey Ross! Have you tried songs of conquest yet? I got it the other week and it’s pretty fun.

20+ years later and I was still "bad" at the game in that I wasn't playing efficiently, but learned a lot by watching pvp

Had fun watching, hope you had fun playing.
Don't take those critical comments to heart Ross. HOMM3 has a very high skill cap.

if i remember correctly you can't block subterranean but only teleports cause when you stay there you can be attacked from the other way
@@87mattiad that was my suspicion too. I can't be arsed to test it myself though :D

Utilize the wait in battles feature…

I used to play with only one I think. Though watching PvP in recent years made me understand a lot so I guess I've been a noob for 20+ years

"Gold has been a problem for me..." said the guy who never build a Capitol or delayed City hall upgrade for an eternity.
Cool comment, bro.
Wow, it's almost like he is a new player and hasn't watched all the videos on how to "maximize" on this ancient game. Chill the fuck out dude
