Actually...it is. It's based on a real person, Kunta Kinte and his descendants. Alex Haley called is work "Faction" (a story of fictional events mixed with factual information).
@@RoyalT06 Fiction means it is not true. Kunta Kinte was not real it taken from a fictional novel written by a European Harold Courlander called the African. Alex haley took whole plots from the book and was sued for it then had to pay 650,000 and apologize.
@Emma Crawford I didn't believe it either when I first heard it. Then I did the research for myself. I know it's hard to accept this fact. Alex Haley was sued in Federal court and had to pay $650,000 to Harold Courlander in 1978 for stealing his work and making R'oots from it. The Judge in the case said that he has never seen someone take so much of someone else's work and pass it off as their own. If you want to know where your family is from, DO YOUR GENEALOGY
Kunta Kinte had a daughter named Kizzie. Kizzie had a son name George. George had 8 children. Those children had children. You can't tell his descendants this lie.
Perhaps Kunta Kinteh existed or not, but the whole context of this to remember the millions of Africans who were dragged away from their homes in force to die in Africa itself or to live lives of horror in the Americas.

Sizzla est fou 😛
Fair point, what is he waiting for?
Still your perspective/query does not give you the right to call him mad! Insolent French peasant!
Good video, but the subtitles are not accurate when Mutabaruka recites the poem.
In this thread people are saying kunta kinte wasn't real the real issue is slavery was real and this is what should be focused on. Thanks
Nice vibes here
