My Zelos Nova 2 arrived today. Love it so far.
I've been on a Microbrand appreciation tour the last year and love their offerings. They really listen to their consumer base and give us what we want. To your point, why by an overpriced Seiko when one can get a similar or less priced offering with the bells and whistles?
Microbrands have come a long way. The quality has improved greatly since they started popping up. Why would anyone overspend on a mainstream just to watch something you think is valuable depreciate into the ground. My Hamilton khaki I bought on sale for 400 bucks with a manual 2824.
How long will these dials last for micro brands? I’m a newb lol
Beautiful upcoming release. I love the choice of using the hand wound ETA 7001. Not a cheap movement movement to use. I'll take something like that 24/7 compared to what I consider to be problematic .. SELLITA SW200. I've had several new ones crap out (helicopter rotor) Zelos blows brands like Citizen and SEIKO away on some of their releases. Another intangible is ZELOS customer service remains second to none.
The NOVA V1 had shorter lugs and would eat the lug ends of straps unless using curved spring bars. V2 has more space between the case and lug holes. I lost track of the number of ZELOS I own, but safe to say somewhere around three dozen including the Mirage 8day skeleton hand wound which was $4,900 and worth every cent.
Truly beautiful - At this point I don't know if I would consider Zelos and CW micros anymore. They are both outstanding in quality, affordability and value per dollar vs. typical mainstream large watch makers. Its great for the hobby to see more and more micros really stepping up their game(s) and being a serious contender against the likes of Seiko, citizen and even serious 5 figure brands. Keep up the great work and thanks for another great review.
Your first sentence here doesn’t seem to square with the rest of what you say. Is the idea that there are now so many other Micros that Zelos and CW are becoming more like mainstream brands and, hence, that you won’t consider them anymore?
@@TXLogic I just think they have grown out of the Micro category, especially CW is a bit more mainstream now. I still love both, especially CW. I own 2 CW's and preordered the new lumiere. I respect Zelos I just have not bought one yet but I know everyone who has loves them
I wish Elshan had been able to equip it with the LJP movement originally envisioned for this watch. The longer power reserve and hacking seconds would have been great. Very pretty little watch though. If I had the spare coin I'd definitely try and acquire the tantalum.
Have a Wise ADX GMT and Ginault Silent Service and the fit and finish for both rivals my Breitlings, Omega, and Rolex. Hoping to add Zelos, Monta, and Formex in the future. Microbrands are so good nowadays
The Wise and Ginault are excellent examples of what can be done in the micro brand sphere. Add in Monta and that's my top 3 for finishing quality.
Zelos and Wise really give you the best bang for buck deals out there.
This reminds me of the satory-billard watch. Wonder which one came first. The chicken or egg ?
I really love the MOP version and salmon. I feel like all of them are hard to get an objective feel for without seeing in person. Still kicking myself over missing the timascus helmsman and hope to make up for it with this drop
Microbrands are better than the minstream snobs 😂. Zelos is killing it.
Horween is the truth. I love the one that came with my Nomos Tangente.
Wow these are pretty incredible, especially that tantalum. Zelos is definitely pushing the boundaries of what they can accomplish. Thank you for another great video.
from a macro point of view, China is quietly becoming the winner. Their engineering and manufacturing is cheaper, faster and has comparable quality to Japanese or Swiss watches.
they know made in China watches do not sound as cool. So micro brands do the designs, and they handle the manufacturing.
Love zelos. I think the new novas look awesome. If they were bigger I’d probably get one but 37mm is too small for my wrist (I would want ideally a 39mm or 40mm at least). I am impressed with the unique stuff zelos does. Not many brands come close to doing what they do.
Most micro brands doing smaller watches every time. I have a 7.25-inch wrist and they would be too small for me. I love a lot of good micro brands, but they are doing very small watches for me.
That dial is great, but the watch is to small for me.
And the movement is similar to the Maen 37
Awesome watch, is Zelos still a microbrand? They are definitely becoming the gold standard for Microbrands.
Love this. Amazing color. Not on board with the stitch strap. Plain black with a nice polished buckle would bring this up to a pure class level. Easy fix. My opinion.
One other thing you get with some Microbrands, and Zelos in particular, is superlative customer service. Elshan goes above and beyond to address any and every issue… often personally. I don’t think the big brands come anywhere close to that level of attentive, personalized service!
Lovely!
Beautiful
Perfect size!!!! Including great price!!!
But where are their watches assembled?
I went microbrand as my firs mechanical watch because of the size offerings. My wrist needs a sub 40mm watch.
Seiko didn't listen. Now they offer 37mm Five vintage series and I just laugh at their specs.
What a great offering from a great microbrand
Please review the new aquaracers!!
that looks beautiful
The small seconds hand looks really, really cheap. The dial designs are far too busy.
Agreed, the small details on this watch look really rough.
The design is a ripoff too.
very nice.....but 37mm ??? too small
Yeah they definitely tried to do too much with this one. Seiko may not have the value it once did, but any of their dials outclass this.
sorry but it's much uglier than the nova 1 version, cheap polished case, confusing dial hard to see the time, this blue color is easier to see the time than the other colors, very bad
Disagree. Version 1 is more elegant yes while Version 2 is more shiny and jewellery like. CNC guilloche dial is just simply much superior than Stamped Guilloche.
But yes Legibility is kinda poor, but I can think this Version 2 is simply a piece of gem to make you forget the time.
I agree! I own and love the nova 1 and was really looking forward to Nova 2 - but this was a disappointment… more specifically the fonts used and the unnecessary chrome sectors on the dial cheapen the whole thing up
Agree the V1 is the superior watch. It came with a bracelet and more classic dial design. Also i prefer a bit bigger dimension.. The design of the v2 is also a ripoff of the independant watch designer from France called Sartory Billard. Check it out. Hard pass for me.
That’s your unpopular opinion
Looks good, but too small. That lug to lug is kids size. I have 6.5 inch wrist. I need minimum 47mm lug to lug.
Totally agree. Those Mainstream watches are boring AND expensive for what they offer. Heck, this watch even beats out some of the luxury ones out there.
Looks like a cocktail time..
they couldn't have made it a automatic?
But then it adds thickness, but good point
Auto just blocks up the rear viewing with a big rotor
37 mm? Do they make those in men's sizes?
Dial looks cheap
Too bad it's simply illegible, however.
It's a dress watch not a tool watch
Busy looking, nope.
