Jalohaikara on 2000-luvun uudistulokas Suomen luonnossa. Tämän siron linnun tuntomerkkejä ovat kauttaaltaan puhtaanvalkoinen höyhenpeite, keltainen tikarimainen nokka, pitkä kaula sekä mustat jalat. Niittylahdessa on jo vuosia pesinyt kaulushakara ja todennäköisesti nykyisin myös harmaahaikara. Jalohaikaran (viisi niitä taisi olla yhteensä) bongasin nyt ensimmäistä kertaa.
Great white egret is a newcomer to Finnish nature in the 21st century. The hallmarks of this bird are pure white plumage throughout, a yellow dagger-like bill, a long neck and black legs. A collared heron has been nesting in Niittylahti for years, and probably now also a gray heron is nesting. I spotted great white egret (I think there were five of them in total) for the first time.
