  • Our last camping trip we tried out our new piece of kit ... a Thermal Cooker! If you not sure what one is or how it works, I explain it all in this video.
We can see this new piece of cooking equipment is going to be handy in future trips, when we can't use the camp oven.
Oh the beef stew recipe is a simple one but tastes great.
Who are we? Family of 5, exploring and camping around Australia in our home built camper trailer nicknamed the Wanderer.

that is a good looking pot, like that it comes in its own blanket and being able to use 12v if necessary. also the two pot thing is better for a solo traveller.. . I have the billy boil 3ltr thermal cooker but even that being the smallest is a fair bit for me on my own.. ok when its soup, but often in winter i have to ask neighbours to join me in my meal
These pots are perfect for lazy cook like me...love that i can throw it together then forget it.
pot luck tea saturday, i am doing a kiwi version of chicken biryani... see how that goes.

Sounds great, you have to tell us what's makes it a kiwi version. It's been a great addition to the camp kitchen. Thanks heaps for watching and your comments. Happy and safe travels.

We are using ours a lot more, great when travelling. Heat your food before you go in the morning and it's ready when you get into camp. We agree it's a great nice of kit

Yep, the 12v plug they say on the instructions is to keep the food hotter for longer. Believe or not this one came from Aldi on one of their special buys. I'm sure they will have them again.

Sorry about the late reply. The small inner pot is 2L, and the large inner pot is 5L. Hope that helps.

I know 😅, a little too over catering with the amounts. Still taste good with the stew and easy to do if you get the measurements right. Thanks for watching.

@@the5wanderingwilsons. Try one part of washed Basmati (long grain rice) and up to 1.5 parts of water with added stock and a drop of olive oil. Bring up to boil, then shut off the heat and put the lid on. Partly cook the rice to coincide with the end of cooking the beef casserole. Load both pots into the thermal cooker at the same time, close it up and zip up the insulated bag. It will be hot and ready in from 6 - 8 hours and the rice or polenta will still be perfectly cooked as no steam is lost to the outside. Beef obviously needs more pre-cooking time than chicken or mince dishes. I enjoyed watching your presentation especially the way you pre-prepped the beef and veg. Great video and thanks for presenting to us. I take it you are Australian... I'm a Queenslander.
