Thank you for your what you did video. I’m starting a build to build a 1968 C50 into a pickup I am lengthening a 8ft bed into an Estimated 12ft bed. Trying to find donor beds that are good enough to use has been challenging to say the least. I was going to attempt doing the sides and floor as one piece but after watching you video it makes much more sense to take them apart. The easy way would be to leave it a flat bed, but I want to build a Beast Pickup!
I’m doing the exact conversion. Going with a welding bed for now. But the bed came off a standard dually as well. I’m moving my axle 4” forward and cutting the rear frame about 6” to clear the inserted lights on the bed. My question is how wide is the rear dual set up. Bed is sitting flush w my outside dual and has 6” fenders past that. Just wondering if the 6” gonna be flush or have some poke. Thank ahead of time.
I honestly don’t know what you are asking me. you said you have the same truck so what exactly do you need a measurement of? my rear axle is a C&C 14 bolt free floating .. truck is 1980 C30 C&C
Hey awesome videos btw. So I am doing a build on a 81 c30. And running into some problems. Was wondering if there is a way I could rack your brain and see you know what's going on? Is there a private way we could talk? And I can send you pictures of the truck and the problems?
So it's a 1981 c30 or 35. When I got it had a utility bed on. I removed that and got a dually bed for it. After taking the bed off found that someone added like a foot of frame rails to the rear of the frame. So im trying to figure out how long my frame should be from like the back of the rubber cab mount to the end of the frame. The next thing is. My frame does not have any holes in it to bolt the bed down. And when I set the bed on the frame and have it centered. The dually tires sir way inside of the dually fenders Luke to the point I could use a standard 8 foot bed. So trying to figure all that out.
You might have a cab & chassis like mine ... I had to mini tub my bed and that’s why I’m extending the bed 4” ... mine had a flat bed on it too.. the wheel base is 4” wider... narrow rear axle and they were never intended to have a factory bed.. I did a semi conversion and I have videos on the truck
@@chriscraft77022 ok. So how do I figure out where to set the bed and make the holes in the frame to bolt it down? And I figured I would have to extend the bed the 4 inches like yours. Im trying to also figure out how much of the frame I need to cut off so it doesn't stick out past the bed 2 feet like it is now when I line the dually fenders over the tires. I'm needing to be able to still run a hitch. And would like to be able to put a factory bumper on it too. I really appreciate your help. So there is nothing I can do about how far the wheels sit inside the fenders unless I put a different rear-end it or do the 22.5 rim conversion like you did?
