I have a 79 caprice wagon. Full Metal jacket. I stripped the paint put air ride c notched the frame just put 22s on it. Has a 18 inch sub. Good times. Next mission is a ls swap.

A bro just remove the piece that you pointed to and get the block off plate for it. Its a EGR block off plate sold by ict billet. Then your throttle body will bolt up no problem

Called a stud extractor. Lowes, Home Depot, any hardware store will have them. Get one that’s slightly smaller than the bolt. Simple since the engine is out! It’ll save you headache from gasket leak in future
I ended up going to a friend with a welder and they helped me out. Luckily they live on the same street

If you're going to go that deep might as well get a high flow oil pump, knock sensors, push rods, double springs, lifters and lifter trays. Just to make sure that everything is tip top sense we going in. Yeah it is a bag, but you don't want to have to do it twice.

Drill an tap if you can’t weld a nut on it an get it out also it you go with those type of headers get the v band clap ones they work better I have long tubes on my ss I had mine welded on an man they sound good
Ok bet! I ended up getting them out. Now I just need head gaskets and some new head bolts. Also got the valves done

Very cool. The 5.3 isn’t an actual LS motor, the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2 truck motors are very similar but will have a different code like LQ7 or L77 as the trucks didn’t have LS as options. Many parts are interchangeable but not all. Cool build though great work horses.
