- Having left Phnom Penh, I'm in the south of Cambodia with arguably its best run of coastline at Otres beach, a few kilometers from the town of Sihanoukville.

Sihanoukville is without a doubt the worst place I’ve ever been in my life.
The place is just one big building site.
The locals have been driven out to make way for casinos, striplubs and brothels.
The place is overrun with wealthy Chinese with too much money and not enough manners.
We made the mistake of spending two nights in sihanoukville (one on our way to koh rong and one on our way back from koh rong samloem) and I’ve never felt so on edge in my life.
DO NOT STAY HERE!
Go straight to the islands because they really are heaven on Earth.
It’s only a matter of time before the islands suffer the same fate so if you plan on going DO IT SOON!
Yeah no wonder since it's under construction, dumbass. It will looking really nice once complete.
Sihanouk used to be so beautiful and peaceful yet now it’s been taking over by Chinese. Casio, mafia , trashes are all over the town and beaches. We as Cambodian are so upset and frustrated about it since the government didn’t have any solutions to solves.

Dude, do u just want Cambodia become some back garden for western sexual exploitation and superiority? Thinking Ur country shouldn’t be modernized for their pleasure? This is a very promising city it is just not well organized yet. Be patience

I very much Cambodians are upset. I bet most of them prefer jobs than living dirt poor back in their villages. Sihanouk was also never beautiful. It will be though once the construction is complete

A little update from Cambodian, There’s no more Chinese and Casino at Sihanouk Province now since the new governor chased them away and closed down those Casino. It’s getting better and will get back to how it was soon. (It was a beautiful province back then)

This time I must say I strongly disagree with you!
There’s no such thing as a “boring video” (6:38 and 9:30). As a matter of fact what drives me into being subscribed to your site as well as to some others related to travelling is precisely what you define as “boring”!
Beautiful sights from Rome, Paris, New York, London, Tokyo, etc. can be found everywhere. It is from people like you (which I call “explorers” rather than mere “travelers”) that we can have a glimpse of the way the world really is.
I’ve seen hundreds of times pictures and footages from neat and posh beaches all over the world but this is the first time I have the chance to take a look at a place I’ve never heard of before. And yes… even with so many piles of trash and unpaved roads I find watching at your video a rewarding experience.
You didn’t film anything from town because, according to your own words, there was nothing interesting to be seen. Make a survey among your subscribers and you’ll see how many of us would have found very interesting to see the way a place most of us didn't even know about looked like.
Most of us know a great deal about the USA, Canada, Europe in general, the Middle East, etc. but who knows anything about Cambodia, Burma, Bangladesh, etc. where only the brave dare to go…?
Keep going with your fine work and just restrain from filming if you believe it may be a dangerous area. Poverty, economic depressed area, unknown cities… it’s all part of a world we seldom get the chance to know about…

I enjoyed 6 weeks in Siem Reap in 2015 and after retirement in January 2019 I planned to spend the winter in SE Asia including Cambodia again.... I enjoy the beach and water so considered sihanoukville, but so many times I've read that it's not a very nice place,,, I want to check out Battambong, Kampot, and Kep because I'd enjoy the smaller places rather than the capital city... This is the first of your videos I've seen and now will start checking your other videos....thanks....

Because the land is so flat, I thought about either buying or renting a bicycle and traveling around the country... I will certainly check out that part of the country... Thank you for giving more information about that area...

This was not a boring video, it is very interesting and inspiring to see this type of videos. Trash is a part of the experience in sertain places and there are way to many travel vloggers who only show the positive things.
I love otres, it has a wild west hippie like vibe there.
And in main season there are some pretty good partys there.
And your absolute right you should only stay at otres, sihanoukville is just worth visiting for some restaurants and casinos if you like gambling.
l went there in 2010, it was beautiful...water was just amazing people were great!! God bless Cambodia

Jason If you ever gonna go to SiemReap you should spend about 1-2 weeks their because their are sooo many temples to explore and I recommend using bikes which make it easier to explore

If you go to Sihanoukville, it’s a must to go to visit Koh Rong. The ride is a bit expensive but it’s worth it.

I'm in Kampot now close to SIhanoukville trying to decide if I want to go there or not. But I think I'm going to give it a skip and go to Battambang and Siem Reap. I like the raw content.
Which month u have visited Otres Beach because of clear blue water. Very awesome.

Always curious about sihanoukville even if Philippines is surrounded by water.
I've been there one time only and fell in love with that place / area.. but I was told many times that otres beach is getting colonized by lots of Chinese which was so disappointing to people living/ working there..... despite the fact that is true I would like to go back to there...

This is very sad but true. Most of the locals do not understand what the rubbish mean. We stop visiting this place as it has been overrun by Chinese tourists, casinos, and rubbish!

It changed when Chinese come n stay there. Few years ago it was not that bad situation. But Koh Rong is still good for you.
Just was there two days ago. Sihanoukville is not worth to go. I'm scared to see, what it looks like in a few years when all the buildings finished. Otres Beach is more OK. But loud and dirty as well, except the nice beach...

Otres 2 is better but Chinese have came in and built casinos not great but still good if you are going there I would recommend the otres 2 and koh rong sanloem

If you're poor I would think this would be the best place to be poor. Anywayz, Lovely beach but like you, I'm not a stay on the beach and do nothing kind of person. I like to go go go.
Sihanouk now don't have Cambodian people traveling there because a lot of Chinese Living without permission there. Cambodian love all the tourists but in Sihanouk a lot of Chinese living there and do something bad so in Cambodia. Cambodian don't like them
