  • A mystery lifted 2wd Dodge Ram Van. I really like the looks of the Dodge Van. I know they are Unibody which makes them tricker to lift so it's not supported like the Fords and GM vans.

2" is the max you'll want to lift to maintain proper suspension travel all the way through. I used blocks on the rear for a dodge dakota and coil bucket spacers on the front for a ram 1500. Bilstein 4600 shocks completed the setup and highly recomend them. This allows me to run a 31x10.50r15 setup without much rubbing when offroad. You can run a 33-35" but will require a decent amount of cutting on the body to have proper clearance. If it stays on the highway then you could get by without cutting much. Highly impressed where this van can go with a locker in the rear axle. Taken me all over colorado and utah trails. If the trail gets too intense I switch over to the dirtbike that i carry on the rear.

I've got blocks and coil seat spacers that have been sitting waiting to be installed forever. I think it will be +1.5 inches in the front and 2 inches in the rear if i can ever get it done. These vans are ladder frames like yours

.I allways see forums mention they are unibodies. I wonder why an official lift was never developed for these. I'm sure there's a market for it. People are paying a good amount of coin to lift their Fords and GMs.

I loved Mopar's 1960s to 1970s vehicles. After that their quality and reliability became subpar compared to Ford and GM products. There is a reason why you don't see as many of the older Mopar vehicles on the road and if you do, why they are cheaper in price.

I was a 90s kid so I was impressed with what GM had. They had odd ball vehicles like the Typhoon and Syclone running with Ferraris. I'll give it to Dodge. The Hellcat along with the GTR gets the love from the younger generation. Too bad the Dodge Ram Van didn't get the 8.0 V10 like the Pickups did. If it did and you can lift them like the Ford and GM vans I would of considered one. I still think they look cool.

Dodge 2nd generation vans are unibody as are Chevy G vans from that era. The unibody design obviously has frame-like protrusions to bolt the engine and suspension onto as well as box sections running lengthwise to stiffen the structure but those box sections were welded to the body as opposed to being bolted on. VW Bay window vans were similarly constructed.

I seen 4x4 Conversion Ram Vans. I know it's just about swapping in a front axle from a truck. Same with the Old Chevy Vans. I have seen a few old 2wd Chevy Vans lifted with big tires. HAd no idea they were unibody now I wonder how they were lifted. This Dodge in this video is the closest I seen to one of these vans in 2wd Form being lifted. They look good

I think that's a great option if you don't want to spend $2000-$5000 on a 5" lift. A 2 inch space is the biggest you want to go to retain ride quality and suspension geometry. My friend Sergeant Thomas has a FPO kit. I actually with I stuck with 265 tires 285s really hurt power and fuel economy. Hopefully a re-gear regains my power and at least 1 mpg I think these vans with a leveling kit look good ruclips.net/video/tllBkN_w1gU/видео.html

I don't actually subscribe to any channels on youtube, since people is so cold they don't look back and say look i'm gonna subscribe back to this guy even dough he does not have any interesting content, but.. who gives a ****, anyways, I have a 2000 dodge ram 3500 extended cab I lifted the car myself, but after I realized they are NOT meant to be lifted even dough I did and it looks great, but it was not a successful lift, there are 4 or 5 crucial reason this cant not be done, 1st- they have upper control arms with very low reach for the upper ball joint, if you lift it the upper control arm will stay at a awkward angle, this will make the shock absorbers and the coil springs basically not operational, because the upper control arm will keep them smash between the lower control arm and the chasis of the car, so like I said it will look good, but to drive it is like driving a car with no appropriate suspension and this can be dangerous since your coil springs and shocks will not absorbe the impact of the road imperfections, so in order for anybody to come up with the idea of lifting a one of these vans will have to re invent the steering knuckle as a whole and put a longer upper control arm upper ball joint longer assembly, like the long ones on the more modern cars, and that will do the job, now I'm a welder, the other solution is to weld on that steering knuckle an extension to assemble the upper control arm into it, that is if you know what youre doing, is not a viable thing to do for safety reasons the welding might break if the job is not well done, so there you have it, I hope you read this message and let me know if you understood a bit of my limited explanation.
