You have to respect Sylvester here. Considering this is 1987 & the man dies of aids a year later he had to be feeling really sick. But Sylvester still knocks out a performance. A true warrior.

You can see him coughing several times...that was the first thing he went really sick with and it wouldn´t disappear until he did his last breath. I´m pretty sure he knew he also was to die when Rick got diagnosed, and just didn´t give a shit about it - moving forward, producing, appearing live until he couldn´t do any more. Upright all the way down to his last day. Pretty much the concept Freddie Mercury kept up.
      Legends.

I bought his CD Mutual Attraction in 2007 at 19 idk how Amazon showed me his music. I was intrigued then on. After that documentaries were showing about him. He was very interesting and there was nobody else like him. The album artwork was awesome. He passed away a year after my birth in 1987. But it shows how music never dies

The night before Sylvester’s long time lover, Rick Cranmer passed away from AIDS related illness. Joshua Gamson remembers in ‘The Fabulous Sylvester’, “After a couple of upbeat songs, Sylvester stopped and wiped his eyes. He told the crowd, quietly, that Rick had died the night before, and sang “You Are My Friend.” The next day, September 6, was Sylvester’s 40th birthday and he would sadly pass away a little more than year later on December 16, 1988.

Aw, man. He's starting with that coughing....in the first song. Even witnesses around him stated his incessant coughing was one of the first signs. Whew.....this video is eerie.

This video is a treasure I can see clearly he loved Rick very much and to do this concert the night after Rick's passing shows the courage that Sylvester had in doing so. What he felt we can only imagine and how real he was and a true star he will always be. Thank you Sylvester and may you rest in peace..

@@adrilo4377 I'm trying to find out his childhood home which is in Watts, CA I would like to see it. And finally his last known residence which is in San Francisco, CA a place called the Castro District. People there say they know where his last apartment is on Collingwood Street. I'm going to see where that place is as well.

I love this video. This coming September 6 would have been his 74th birthday and he was great and loving guy. His music is still being played and heard by people who knew him and by people who love him. Thank you Sylvester James and may you continue to RIP...

He sounds really good here, particularly good in fact. Sooner or Later has been lent an additional poignancy considering what had just transpired in poor Sylvester's life only hours prior. It's a testament to his professionalism, courage, willpower, and probably a healthier lifestyle that his voice sounds in great condition given the circumstances.
