i loved this cd....so much so that i also bought for a 75 year old years ago who was surrounded by musicians of note in his time. He said "that chick is right on the money". true mr. russo !
Walkin' down the Ginza I heard someone blowin' a cadenza. They were playin' bebop And people were drinkin' up some booze. Well the music hit me As hard as a case of influenza. I'm so glad because they played THE TOKYO BLUES. Second chorus I'll take teriyaki. Please pass me another glass of sake. Japanese people Love music and jazz is what they choose. Well I've got to go now, I'll miss all that good old sukiyaki. I'm so sad because I got THE TOKYO BLUES. Jag I'm so sad, sad, sad.
i fell in love with this album when she did a dedication to ella fitzgerald......titled "dear ella"dee dee you are one hell of a woman!!!! HOLLA, IF YA HEAR ME!!!!!!

Racism IS not really a problem:: there are all kinds of races and tribes on this earth; the problem is the haters or narrow-minded bigots, who like some races and hate others without due cause...... right??
Migule Isidro I don't see the "low key racis[m]". Mentioning Japanese people love jazz music doesn't seem racist to me. If someone asserted that caucasian males love baseball that wouldn't be racist either. Some comments are just based on folks making observations, without any ulterior motive.
Thank you, Eugene, for your perceptive comments.... I am in full agreement with you. -- By the way, I think that Dee Dee Bridgewater's rendition is top class!! [I am also a massive fan of all Horace Silver's music! ]
Discovered this gem on tiny desk concert and love love love!
James Foster, thank you for posting Dee Dee...the most overlooked vocalist ever...* Love your name*
