I kinda wished you would have shown some standard web browsing. I appreciate all the gaming but I’m not buying this to be a Nintendo switch. I’d like to know how it handles Word, email, photo apps, Google apps, kindle app, and web browsing.
Ohhhh just a heads up ETA.. There is a new N64 core on retro arch Yay finally some good N64 game demoes to come.. Can't remember the name of it but Google N64 retro arch new core..
Oh and it would be nice to see how this performs against the Fire HD 8. If you want to compare it to the Fire HD 10 you should probably compare the Fire HD 10 to the Lenovo m10 tablet. The Lenovo M8 FHD is way better than the Fire HD 8 and the M8FHD hasn’t been $160 almost since it’s been out! It was $99 at Christmas and I just got it today for $103 directly from Lenovo. Great tablet and a great buy!
8" tablet is perfect compact size. Phone is too small and my iPad 9.7" is too big. The Lenovo M8 FHD is great with nice performing processor, great looking screen, good speaker that gets loud, clean stock Android interface, 18 hour battery life is legit as I came close to that, nice hardware build and real good benchmarks for the price (antutu score is similar to Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 that sells for $229.99 retail). Only con for me is inability to stream in HD for Prime/Netflix but does stream in HD in my other video apps. I ran DRM info app and it says level 1 too. My pixel 3a and Moto z2 force also says level 1 but can't stream Prime in HD either. Not big deal for me as I only watch prime through fire stick. Another con is available cases are limited...... I will absolutely take this Lenovo tablet over the weaker 8" Fire tablet or the 10" Fire tablet. I had older Fire tablet in the past and put the Google store on it. Too buggy. Later flashed it. It doesn't work as polished as a regular tablet like my Lenovo or my Samsung tablets. If you are looking outside watching Netflix/Prime, I would definitely rather go with Lenovo for 8" tablet or if looking for 10" budget Android and pay like $159.99 sale for Samsung Tab A 10.1 even though the antutu score is less than Fire tablet. I guess if you are big gamer the fire tablet 10" is more appealing at $99.99 sale but I rarely game and when I do, it is a casual game.... I use my Lenovo tablet as my go to device for basic use more than my more powerful 2017 iPad and my more powerful phones (Pixel 3a and Moto z2 Force). Form factor with it's combination of size and weight is perfect! Battery life is a huge PRO.
@@SebbS82 Yea. The speaker is good. It is from the top which I prefer over bottom speaker as it gets muffled and it gets plenty loud for a budget tablet.
Does the usb support OTG or just power? I am wanting to be able to use a thumb drive. I am coming from very old galaxy tabs which all had OTG usb, but since no one seems to mention it anymore in tablet reviews I don't know if this is because it is now standard, or no longer used because of bluetooth?
@@cadysvids Yes. It supports OTG. This is from their manual. "One Micro-USB 2.0, supports Lenovo T-Hub, OTG, 3.5mm (0.14inch) combo audio / microphone jack, one MicroSD/TF slotor dual-card slot for Nano-SIM card and MicroSD/TF card.".
They had me, right up until you mentioned it's ONLY a single speaker setup. What's with these tab makers? Do they really think everyone only has one ear? LOL Thanks for the video.
How does it accomplish full screen 1080p content? The screen is actually 1920 x 1200, not 1920 x 1080. In order to display 1080 content, it must be doing one of three things: 1) letterboxing (putting black bands above and/or below totaling 120 pixels in width), 2) upscaling from 1920 x 1080 to about 2133 x 1200 but then cropping off about 106 pixels off each side, or 3) upscaling from 1920 x 1080 to 1920 x 1200 so you don't lose any material on the sides but which would make things appear too skinny, for example, by about 11%. This seems fairly important. The screen is not the right "shape" for HD content. How it deals with that is interesting.
Half-decent entry-level tablet. Only thing I don't like is the Mediatek SoC. Slow A-53 cores and an old low-end GPU. But for the price, you can hardly ask for more. 3:37: There's no such thing as "server-side decoding". Plex is only transcoding (or transmuxing) your video to a format that is compatible with your device. Device itself still has to do decoding of whatever stream Plex provides it with.
great video but you say in the video its a 1080 x 1920 display but its actually 1920 x 1200. I just received mine today and I'm loving it so far. I dont think i'll be using my amazon fire HD 8 and 10 much anymore except for video camera monitors.
Is there any way you can make a chart with all the tablets you've tested say over the year and put them in the videos? Like a GN type looking chart. That would be awesome. Great videos man. I been loving your videos for the past few years. Your the man! It would be crazy to run into you one day being we both live in NC❤✌
Ultimately, I kind of wish I had gotten the Fire HD 10 gen2 when it was on sale for $100 last week over this. I got mine for $115 including tax and multiple coupons. The lack of HD for Netflix due to absence of widevine lvl1 DRM was disappointing. It seems I might hold onto my Nexus 7 2013 longer.
still a quadcore mediatek 2gb memory tablet in 2020 should be price under a $100 and it will be good for like gaming, ebooks, taking & referencing notes, basically something i wouldn't mind tossing into my bag with just a soft case. like my asus fonepad 8, but its crawling with a gb of memory.
They really need to put better chip into this form factor. Something like Helio G90T or G95T with 4gb ram. They can keep hd screen and everything else about it.
This mediatek is a smidge below on antutu than that of a Snapdragon 636 processor used in a Moto Z3 Play. That is pretty impressive considering the price. Nothing wrong with that at all. Unrealistic to expect something superior than a Snapdragon 636 performance.
