Great Video, thank you! It worked as stated and was pretty easy to install. If you have Windows 11, you can skip the 7 Zip step. I believe Windows 11 can extract these files without the extra program. Ista seems cool, excited to dive in and see everything that I can tweak. Please share anything you think that is cool to adjust.
@@JasonJoyrides I'm asking about the "Backend Problem" in the image, or is it probably only displayed on v4.39.20 even 4.49.2x? i.ibb.co/fNww367/backend.jpg
Hi Jason! Many thanks for putting this up - I have an E82 135i N55 with the DCT, so very much looking forward to resetting the trans adaptions using ISTA+! In any event, I was able to download the ISTA+ torrent files using the Google Drive link with no problem, but when I ran the actual ISTA+ installer program, it totally skipped over the part where you set up/select the installation drive/directory. Then of course the actual install failed, because the "drive/directly was not accessible" Any idea what might be happening here ? In the meantime, I have deleted everything and I am downloading the torrent files again, so I will update my findings later - maybe 2nd time's a charm ??
Hmmm interesting that it skipped that part. Could it be due to the fact that you don't have 7zip on your computer? If it doesn't work this next time, don't delete everything. I can walk you through how to download what you need and in what order for it to be installed. The installer just makes it much easier since it does that for you. I have also installed it a different time where I downloaded each 7zip file separately.
@@JasonJoyrides Hi Jason - thanks for quick reply. I do in fact have 7 zip already installed on this laptop! I even decompressed that big zip file first (before running the installer) to see if that made any difference, but it did not. I'll let you know what happens on the next try and I do appreciate your offer of support!
@@stanelder9995 ah hmmmm. Truly I can't say why it skipped that step then. Hopefully it doesn't this time but we'll get you squared away by the end of it regardless! It's truly a joy to help sir!
@@JasonJoyrides Hi again! I did successfully download the entire torrent again and unfortunately it is doing the same thing. For some reason the installer utility thinks that the installation directory is already pre-selected to be somewhere else and after going through all the other pre-install selections (per your video), the installer then times out immediately with this exact message: "The drive or UNC share you selected does not exist or is not accessible. Please select another."
@@alexdeluna1999 ISTA+ does more with F series than E series. The connection with the cable is slightly different though. You need an Ethernet cable instead of a K CAN cable and your connection settings should be ICOM local network instead of EDIABAS. Thank you so much for posting. One quick question, have you tried installing the program on external hard drive? If so, any pitfalls which you are aware of?
@@adrenalinsurge I have not tried this. However, my assumption would be that as long as it knows the paths to the daten files and such, it should work fine. I’d say it’s worth trying
I'm not sure why it is giving that error and I'm not finding much info about it online. This guide is for setting ISTA up for E series. My guess is either the connection type you are using is incorrect for the G series platform, or this version of ISTA+ is older than your car and perhaps you are missing some files for it. Those are just my shots in the dark though as I do not know enough about the software and how it works at a computer engineering level to say for sure. How much have you dug around in the forums for an answer? I've poked through probably about 15-20 threads looking for a solution to this have not found anything yet.
I noticed on google drive that there is a 4.50.21 version out now have you tried it out? I’ve had 4.39 for a while now I was wondering if you think installing it would be the same process
My guess is that it would be similar but I believe that the 4.32 version is the most recent one that does not require an activation key. That could have changed but if not then you'd need that to install. Other than that, my guess would be that the steps should be the same.
