作者借霸王别姬的这一历史典故刻画出“英雄”与“爱情”两个主题形象，作品讲述了楚王项羽在多年征战中，爱姬虞美人始终相随左右，从一而终。作品通过描写征战场面的激烈、霸王别姬的沉痛与乌江自刎的壮怀，赞颂中华民族古往今来的英勇与执着，以及忠贞不渝的理想和信念。大提琴象征楚王项羽临死不屈的英雄气概，而二胡象征他的爱姬忠贞不渝从一而终的爱情。
Ode to King of Western Chu (Erhu and Cello)
Li Bo Chan based his composition on the historical, heart-wrenching Chinese story ‘Farewell My Concubine’; portraying "Heroism and Love". The King of Chu, Xiang Yu, fought many years during the Chu-Han warlords’ struggle for domination. His beloved concubine was always by his side even in difficult and dangerous times. This composition depicts the heroism of Xiang Yu in the fierce battle scenes, the love between him and his concubine, and the pain of farewell to his concubine before killing himself. The work celebrates and praises the Chu people for their loyalty and courage since the dawn of time; and their unfailing commitment to love. The cello symbolizes the heroism of King of Chu, Xiang Yu, and the erhu symbolizes his beloved concubine and her unswerving love.

演出很成功，两位演奏家实力非凡，厉害！二胡老师的按弦风格比较独特，与中国大陆的主流方式有所区别。不管怎样适合自己的就是最好的。

没有任何麦克风的音乐厅音响震撼，给我们带来巨大的演奏和听觉享受，在此分享音乐会实况。 2018美国明尼苏达州国乐社，音乐总裁郑伟民先生看了新加坡精英华乐团在滨海音乐厅大型音乐会，题为-传承-之后，邀请我及我的学生们新加坡琴诗乐坊（荣获俄罗斯世界五重奏大赛多项大奖）将音乐会带到美国。这次演出大获成功。好评如潮。应明州观众的热烈要求2019年九月再次被邀演出，又获得极大成功，观众久久不能离去。当地各大媒体争相报道及乐评给予很高的评价。他们意犹未尽，又发来邀请期待着我们再去演出。在此分享一部分演出实况。
