I've owned one for nearly a year now and love it. They dont torque steer any where as much as people say and they pull strong in all gears. If you are thinking of getting one then deffinetly do just make sure you have good service history.

Most of the trouble on these kind of cars are ones that have been modified. The main thing is make sure it's been well taken care of and you should be fine. I've had mine a year and had only minor issues which you we'll get with these sort of sporty cars

I've had my gen 2 MPS for 6 months now and absolutely love it. It's a 59 plate with 60k and had zero issues. As long as they get regular servicing and you run high octane fuel then you'll have no issues. You only start to run into issues if you map it and don't upgrade things like HPFP interals and engine mounts

There a good specced car from factory, I think you have to mention that they get a lsd from factory too. Good power, good looks. Does the fact that there only a 5 door put people off? And maybe the interior? No sporty steering wheel and no recaro buckets.. I guess if it’s just not hot enough to make people buy them as a hot hatch for that kind of money. Would a 4-5k vxr or gti with 2-3k on mods be a better choice?

Do it! It's a lovely car but look for one that has been well taken care of with correct servicing. First generation is bit more violent in terms of driving due to mechanical steering and more noticeable turbo lag but still a great daily driver. With 2nd generation you can get bit better MPG due to more efficient cylinder heads and smoother map. It's all down to preferences tho, they are mostly the same.

Depends what you're looking for really, the megane chassis is definitely a bit better, feel a bit more balanced on the road, might be a bit more fun round some back lanes. However the MPS's still do handle well and are nice to drive with quite a bit more grunt with potential for quite a alot more power. Also for me the interiors are better in the Mazda's and easier to live with. Ultimately when I was in the market for a hot hatch it was the Mazda that took the crown for me and I never looked back. One thing to note however. Road tax is EXPENSIVE. Something like £330 a year for MK2 and £565 a year for a MK1.

underrated cause not that customizable, cause it's underrated lmao, or at least on first glance. Plus it's newer, which some people dont want, but still cool imo. atm the gen you're driving go from 7-16k eur in eu
oh right, for this price you can buy a more fun car i think. Probably the reason i wouldnt get one.

The Mazda 3 MPS is extremely cheap in the UK for what you're getting.

It's one of the most tunable/aftermarket ready cars I've seen.. not sure what part of the world you're in but in the UK and States, there's a very big tuning scene for MPS's.
