I was born, grew up and still live in the East Bay. I've spent a lot of time in San Francisco. This vlog is so beautiful. Thank you for your thoughtful, respectful take on the city I love so much. I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. ❤️
I do love Pier 39. I spent a lot of time in San Francisco from 2016 through 2018 for work. This vlog brought back some lovely memories. I will never forget walking those hills lol😅
Frog in a clay pot doesn’t sound as good as Toad in the Hole 🤣. You two could have been in an episode of I’m a Celebrity. SF is on my bucket list so really enjoying these flogs.
I was in San Francisco for a few days before my brother and I took a cruise to Alaska at the end of July. Recognized a lot of your stops in the city and brings back memories. As Leigh said..’When a moment becomes a memory, that’s what makes it special.’
This is one of the best vlogs! I'm from Sacramento. Not far from SF. I've been to most of the places in the vlog. There's nothing you can't find to do there. It's one of the best places to visit and live. Looking forward to Napa Valley also. I love it there. I wish you had time to go to Monterey. It has one of the best aquariums and it's beautiful.
What a fabulous day. So glad you were able to see the Golden Gate at last without the marine layer (that is the local name for the fog that rolls in off the Pacific - nature’s air conditioning for us). No wonder you were knackered. SF hills will do that to you. Parking on them is an art - you learn to kerb your wheels. One of the apartments my son lived in the hill was so steep I could hardly get out of the car and stay upright.🤣🤣🤣.
I totally know what you mean about life going in as it was in the places you visit. I did smile at the thought of having a meta moment in San Francisco...
Hi we stayed in that Holiday Inn too in March 2009. When we arrived the hotel had a fire in the kitchen so we had a great view of fire engines etc. No damage to the hotel luckily!
We have been to Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, LA, San Diego, Palm Springs and New York but my all-time favorite in the USA is San Fransico. It's the only place I could quite happily live. You both brought back many happy memories, thanks and looking forward to the next vlog.
Oh boys, you have brought back lots of wonderful memories of Sam Fran. We did Lombard the other way, we walked to the top and then back down. Magnificent. Xx
Ah, I didn't realise you guys were road tripping the USA - looking forward to seeing more videos of this trip! A few years ago (while I was still at uni, so more years than I like to admit...) I road tripped from San Francisco to New York, via the deep south - it'll always be one of my all-time favourite trips!
You have bought back so many happy memories, so thank you ! My second iPad was bought in that very same apple store ! My favourite city along with New York ! I’m looking forwards to your wine tour ! When we went to San Fran we always did wine tours but it was three in sandman and two in napa ! I agree prefer SF to LA any day ! Great vlog x
i am enjoying your SF video. it's good to see that there is still so much positive to still see there. we hear terrible news about homeless overtaking every street and human feces everywhere. glad to see that's not all there is. hope to see more of the winery in your hotel. Sounds very nice.
Hi Vicki. We were surprised too. We had seen lots of RUclips vlogs warning people of crime and homelessness but we didnt see anywhere near as much as in LA. It was a pleasant surprise
Another fantastic vlog! I’ve not been to San Fran but it looks like a lovely place 😍 it reminds me of New York in parts 🤔….. Looking forward to the next vlog xx
I used to go to SF on weekends all the time and walk all over the place. Loved Ghirardelli’s for the Sundays, Disney Springs had a great one too. Went to the Stinking Rose too. SF was always my favorite city till London, now I love them both. It’s so fun to watch these California blogs, my home state. You both are quite entertaining.
Fantastic vlog 😊 thanks for showing us lots of amazing different things to do. I totally get where your coming from, with not appreciating the moment until.you get home! Literally 4 weeks today...I was in universal studios living my best life!! And missing it so much 😍 I've just got home from having my covid booster, and buying new wallpaper lol!! We were sat in the car on way home...Literally saying what you just said Leigh! But also feel blessed that we have these fantastic memories . Have the best time guys, whatever your up to, when you read this xx
Was our first trip to Orlando just last and we did the same standing in Disney, universal, nasa and finding it hard to take in that we actually saved and made it, now we’re back in rainy Glasgow 😢😅
You guys are killing it! Another awesome vlog, you really got around, no wonder you`re exhausted! That hotel is beautiful, and it looks massive. Can`t wait for the rest of the vlogs, you`re making life-long memories!
Aww I'm so loving your journey . Thiught you were on I'm a celeb with some of that Chinese delight !! Loved the sights and greenery, the idea of garlic ice cream threw me slightly but it all looks amazing. Look forward to the next vlog, the crowds will scarper with you 2 stinking of garlic 🤣🤣🤣 ❤❤
Great vlog, me and the daughter are going in May, we are doing 3 nights in San Fran, 2 nights in LA and 4 nights in Vegas, looking forward to it but a little apprehensive too. What was the name of the Chinese restaurant you eventually chose? I'm re watching your vlogs of the places we are going to, they are very informative. Best wishes to you both xxx
You 2 must have strong leg muscles after all that walking. Mostly up & down those hills. You 2 are hilarious. Had to laugh at Leigh trying the hot tea at the end say it's tea or hand wash. All the different foods you had looked good. Too bad you didn't get to have bread pudding.✌️👍🤓
I’ve never been to San Francisco but it all seems so familiar from films and TV programmes. Great video I loved the music you chose too. No Nick there is no such thing as too much chocolate!
Thanks Leigh and Nick realy enjoyed this tonight i love the look of Sanfrancisco would love to go, always wanted to go to alcatraz seeing those hills i thought of mrs doutfire the film.
Loved this …brought back so many memories of one of my favourite cities……never liked L.A….. just a big sprawl! So looking forward to the rest of your trip! X
I remember thinking when I toured in California back in 1990 that I liked the Bay Area much more than I did Los Angeles. We mostly stayed in Berkeley but managed to get over to San Francisco a couple of times, and I very clearly remember visiting Ghirardelli Square. Not only was there the Ghirardelli shop, but there was also a Sharper Image store that I think was the first one I ever visited. and I do remember driving over the Golden Gate Bridge because we spent some time in the Napa area, too. I do think it stinks that expensive hotels not only charge you exorbitant prices for rooms but then ask you to pay exorbitant prices to park as well.
At Ghirardelli square the old factory building is actually a hotel, like loft style apartments they are beautiful. We stayed there and we could see Alcatraz from our bed, had a lovely terrace where we could sit and watch all the hustle and bustle in the square. Honestly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed
I can't believe I've never heard of the stinking rose! Looks delicious. Boudin Bakery is famous for their sourdough bread. There is even one in Disney California Adventure. Back in the wharf area.
It is so interesting watching what you do/did and comparing it to our experience in SF last month. What you said about valueing moments vs memories is so true. Fortunately, Karl the fog was very shy during our stay in SF :D
We was on a coach trip and we had a walk on guide and of course I had to mention that we lived near one that was the longest bridge he didn't like it that the fact that UK had something bigger then they have😆😆
Brought back memories from June.. Our first visit to Bubba Gump was on the pier and we also stayed in that Holiday Inn in 1997.We did the bus tour and loads of walking we went everywhere you went and Alcatraz we were there 4 nights, that hill to Coit Tower is a killer.Did you notice those food sellers at fisherman's wharf can only operate in a certain area. I really liked San Francisco my wife not so, it was ok in the day but felt unsafe In places with the homeless and people obviously unwell, This was our 3rd visit to San Francisco and it has certainly changed over the years
Hello again guys! Ive just watched your previous video on pch road trip....me & my partner did san Francisco 2006....and then flew into san Francisco 2024 to collect our dodge charger and drove straight down pch to san Diego...we didn't go into sf because we heard it was quite dangerous to do so nowadays with all the homeless and street crime now there and because we had a rental car we had all our luggage and didn't want to risk leaving our car on the streets and like you said its mega expensive to park there, but looking back i wish we took the chance and just did it!... We did have great memories last time we were there though... Alcatraz was brilliant! As was cycling golden gate bridge ❤
What another fantastic fun filled day,you must have been exhausted by the time you'd climbed up and down all those hills. I can't get over how much the hotel charges for car parking 😲 I certainly don't blame you for moving your car to another place,we would've done the same. Another smashin vlog guys 💙💙 xx
The parking chargers in San Fran are ridiculous at the Hotels. Because we knew we would be arriving late and all the reports of crime in the evenings in San Fran we just didnt want to risk being away from the Hotel on our first night, dragging all our cases through the streets at night. Now we have done it we would definitely just book into the offsite car park straight away. Its all about hindsight with these things
@@TheLodgeGuys yeah hindsight is a great thing but you were absolutely right to do it the way you did when you were just going on advice ( safety first is paramount) but it's good to know that now you've got first-hand experience you would be happy to park elsewhere from the start. I'm enjoying your road trip 💙💙 xx
I was warned about high parking charges in SF so when we arrive there (staying 3 nights) to start our 3 week California road trip we’re not picking up our car until we leave to drive the PCH … that hotel parking charge really is ridiculous though! 😬 Loving these vlogs guys & can’t wait to see SF for myself - I’m so excited now! 😍
Looks like I’m adding San Fran to my ever growing list of places to visit one day 😊 Glad you had a lovely day - should we take bets now on how much wine you drink in the next vlog to make sure you get your monies worth?! 🤣
You were right nick about the Matrix neo/smith fight scene from The Matrix Reloaded. It was originally going to be filmed in SF china town however it was replicated and filmed in Australia.
Did you guys do any of the scenes from movies in San Francisco, like Sally fields house in Mrs doubtfire, some of the scenes from Princess dairies ( if anyone remembers that movie) was also filmed in San Francisco, like the firehouse that Mia (Anne hathaway) & her mother lived in was in the Excelsior District, the school mai went too & the street where mai crash her car into a cable car, but the streets their but its a dead end St & no cable cars actually go in that street or area 🙈 (it's a fake St)
We loved San Fran , my last trip back in 2019 it was a bit dirty ( rubbish on the streets ) and lots of homeless people sleeping rough on the streets . I am not that old to remember those games you cheeky git…..honest 😊. Those seals sound like the Nemo ride in EPCOT.
😂😂 it makes me laugh ur comments in china tow.as we are not exotic in Barnsley by any stretch of the imagination garlic bread is still a novelty here 🙈 loving the vlogs guys I’m torn between a road trip in florida (we’ve been 2 x now) to road trip California (never been l) 😱😱
@@TheLodgeGuys It’s true Cupertino is not far from San Francisco and thats where apple have their headquarters, I am so happy that I heard nick say he is impressed by the apple store 😜 apparently the one in New York is amazing 😍🤌🏼

I do love Pier 39. I spent a lot of time in San Francisco from 2016 through 2018 for work. This vlog brought back some lovely memories. I will never forget walking those hills lol😅
I love this city.
Looks so scenic, nice architecture & the bridges & sea. 💕
Had the same appreciation moment with traveling while in London UK this past week. I always have to remind myself to stop and take it all in!
Frog in a clay pot doesn’t sound as good as Toad in the Hole 🤣. You two could have been in an episode of I’m a Celebrity. SF is on my bucket list so really enjoying these flogs.
