The thing I really want to know is, how IMGs applying to non paid research positions set themselves financially? How do they do for rent, daily costs, etc. Not to mention those who pursue a master degree without scholarship, how do they afford the costs of it?
For me I think this is one if not the biggest obstacle I always overthink about.

That's certainly a consideration for a lot of IMGs, and there is no straightforward/easy answer. Some people work while doing research/pursuing master's degrees others will work for a period of time to save money to live on!
