  • So the 4060 is out and promises to be a low power 1080p card, but can it deliver that and see off the competition from even AMD's older cards?

    Thank you for making the video with the most reasonable view on these cards. At this point I feel like every youtuber talks negatively about these cards just because it brings more views being negative than it brings being positive. You mentioned a few important things barely anyone talks about, like how the prices are going up on everything worldwide.
    I just bought a new pc and got the Asus 4060. At first I was a bit nervous about if I made the right choice or not with all the negative reviews, then I realised it wasn't the card itself more than the expectations everyone had on the card. I upgraded from a r9 290x bought in 2013 so for me it was a big upgrade, also 8gb vram is more than enough for all the games I want to play.

    1440p is increasingly the norm now, 20 years ago it was 800x600, for a while 1024x768. 1440p is commanding more and more market share as panels improve. Designing the 4060 for 1080p by limiting VRAM was a design mistake. I picked up 6700xt £319 the other day from Overclockers, 12gb VRAM and much better performance. I've always bought Nvidia, I looked for weeks for a competing offering, but there was nothing out there in the mid-range price mark, AMD are dominating value.

      I'm just asking because i live in Germany and while the Summers here are not scorching, it can go up to 30 degrees at times, and i live in a roof apartment.
      I just bought a PC and selected this Card (the only other option at the Supplier was a single Fan 4060 which would perform worse most likely) and now with reading all this about high temperatures, i'm a little concerned of course.

      I mean yours has, but i am still a bit worried, seeing as within these Benchmarks the GPU goes right up to 80 with insane Fan usage and the hotspot even being in the 90's. You say yours stays well under that even during gaming, so that gives me a bit of hope. I've also seen other Comments saying they got this Card and it performs lower, but then others who claim it does ramp up to 80ish.
      Also depends on wether you have this exact Gigabyte or the larger one with three Fans instead of two.

    It would be nice if someone would review the 4060 ti models like 4060 ti MSI Ventus 2x vs 3x for fan noise vs temp ect.. I had purchased and then returned an MSI 6750 xt dual fan and it was too power hungry and generated far to much heat for my small computer room. It was a great performing card and my first AMD but the wattage use and heat were huge. Seems many people do not consider this. I watch streams on another screen and idle on gaming screen at 1440p for hours. I lock fps on games like Oxygen not Included and it halves my wattage and heat for no visual difference.
    I am pretty much after a 4060 ti to upgrade from a 2060 KO, AMD is very good but the lower wattage and heat are more important to me.

    • @MDxGano
      @MDxGano Год назад +1

      You can look at plain old power usage to get a good idea of how much heat a card is going to kick out to the room once it reaches stable operating temp. The readout of temp is however not indicative of how much heat is going to the room whereas wattage is for the most part, representative and fixed for heat output.
      If you arent capping your game to your monitor, you are also kicking out some fairly unnecessary heat. At 180w even a dual fan card is going to be mostly silent. The 6750xt is a 250w card by comparison.

    • @Cobon50
      @Cobon50 Год назад

      @@MDxGano I cap many games that do not need 144 fps or more to 50-60 fps or less. I have a lot of turn based things you can cap pretty low that do not change the gameplay experience. The 6750xt is a great card but when it was drawing 210 watts or more it was pumping out far more heat than I wanted. I did say wattage and heat, I understand the relation between the two. The 6750xt even with capped fps drew a lot more wattage and created more heat than I could handle in computer room in upstairs without running the portable aircon unit all the time to compensate for it. The 4060 ti will be just right for wattage performance and temps for me, I don't do competitive fps anymore.

      @MDxGano 11 месяцев назад

      @@Andytlp I can't stand HWUB anymore. Yeah we get prices kinda suck but holy moly does watching one of thier reviews just feel bad these days. They are maybe a little too stuck on pure raster performance which isnt a terrible thing, but it just isnt why a nvidia card is more expensive. I've not seen a single reviewer talk about Nvidia broadcast and it saddens me deeply because it is a proprietary free software that i simply could not run my setup without.
      That setup is bookshelf or tower speakers being run by a DAC and no need for headphones in audio calls as the software cuts the outgoing audio. It has been a dream in the summer months being able to use discord freely whilst not having headphones on.

      $400 CAD for a 4060 vs $550 for a gtx 680 at launch. The 4060 is 5x as fast in pure raster, has 4x the vram and uses half the power. The fps:$ ratio is indeed not quite as good a the 7600xt, but it the next best in that regard. Account for power draw, DLSS, FG and nvidia broadcast (imo the most important feature no one talks about) and you make up the difference fairly easily all the way up the stack.

    4060 aka ad107 4050 is junk don't buy them and don't get ripped off. NO ONE should recommend it unless it's sub 200 as 4050 silicone should be.
