Hi, im due to have a tummy tuck with 360 lipo soon. If you shouldn't wear your faja for the first to weeks. What do you wear? As im also having a lipo?
It's really variable. Surprisingly some patients really don't experience much pain but others the pain will last for several months. I would say that typically patients will feel much better by two weeks but they still feel tight and that fades over the next several weeks.
I would suggest getting massages for the areas where liposuction is performed and they can help for a tummy tuck too but not required for a TT as they aer for the liposuction.
Yes you can but make sure to get the green light to proceed from your surgeon. I have my patients wait for 6 weeks after a TT or hernia repair prior to doing the exercises but please check with your surgeon.

@@DrWilliamMiami I want to know how much weight will I need to weight n for the fleur-de-lis I'm a vsg patient I have loss 160 pounds my bmi is 35 I need some suggestions please
I know this Dr.William said yes to the massages right away but my doctor said no need for them until my incision are close, so at this point I am very confused.
Then this video is for you. This is the Ogee Recovery Protocol for recovery from liposuction and a BBL: ruclips.net/video/SvxZFjeBRAY/видео.htmlsi=CVJ5A5z4bN_fp1ba That is different than recovery from a TT or a TT with lipo. To which procedure are you referring?
I would say three weeks as a PT because your job is physical. For a desk job patients are usually back to work in 2 weeks. But for you no heavy lifting for 6 weeks after surgery.
There are surgeons who don't use drains. It became popular to stop using drains but I think a lot of surgeons have gone back to using drains so we get the fluid out. I personally use drains but if you don't want a drain you should be able to find someone who performs a drainless tummy tuck.
No reason to be scared of the drains. They were no issue and it was actually comforting to see the fluid leave the body. Sometimes nurses or Drs forget to take the lid of the drain before removal. I was told that hurts. Both mine were removed and I didn't feel a thing (lids were off).
For a BBL or lipo that's what I do too but with a tummy tuck I have my patients start two weeks after their surgery but keep in mind all surgeons are different in terms of their recovery protocols.
It is normal for you. Everyone takes a little longer to be able to walk upright after a tummy tuck. I always tell my patients in your situation not to worry about a specific day for standing straight. Instead I tell them to listen to their body and follow what it is telling you. It will let you know when it is safe to stand straight. I have never had anyone hunched over forever!!
Keep in mind we are all different in our advice. I just share my recovery protocols. I don't want my patients to be in a faja immediately after surgery because I worry that the pressure of the faja, or a compression board, will injure the blood supply and create dead tissue in the freshly performed tummy tuck. You have to remember that the blood supply to the skin in the abdomen after a tummy tuck has been weakened.
Walk starting day 1 just around the house on short trips but frequently, (every hour), and as you heal and feel better you walk further and further each day until you feel well enough to start gentle exercise (3 weeks) and then resume full exercise at 6 weeks.
I don't have any plastic surgeons that I know in NJ. I do know Dr. Steven Kovach at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia who I trained with at Duke and he is one of the best plastic surgeons I know.
Thanks for the quick response! I imagine the tummy tuck recovery is same as or not as bad as the spinal fusion surgery (mine was through my back AND my stomach).
Yes an anterior and posterior approach is a very big surgery but a TT is still a pretty big recovery but I imagine a little less than what you have been through with your back.
Most of the time patients will have a tummy tuck after they are finished having children, but there are certainly patients who have tummy tucks for other reasons like weight loss or post-menopausal changes that leave patients with extra skin.
I’m day 3 and have been able to walk around and stopped taking pain medication but as far as the faja I have that on and was told to keep it on. It is really uncomfortable and hard to breathe. I’m conflicted most surgeons recommend it ….. idk what to do
I can't because I don't do that operation. I have never really liked the results from that operation and the scarring I have seen is really bad so I have never performed that operation so I can't really make a video about it.

I do.
@@DrWilliamMiami I want to know how much weight will I need to weight n for the fleur-de-lis I'm a vsg patient I have loss 160 pounds my bmi is 35 I need some suggestions please
I would get to your goal weight you and your bariatric surgeon had discussed prior to your VSG before have a FDL.
I know this Dr.William said yes to the massages right away but my doctor said no need for them until my incision are close, so at this point I am very confused.
I always suggest to patients to follow the recommendations of their surgeon.
Me too!
They say we need to wear those compressions 24/7 for the first 4 weeks. Now im confused.
Then this video is for you. This is the Ogee Recovery Protocol for recovery from liposuction and a BBL: ruclips.net/video/SvxZFjeBRAY/видео.htmlsi=CVJ5A5z4bN_fp1ba
That is different than recovery from a TT or a TT with lipo. To which procedure are you referring?
@@DrWilliamMiami tummy tuck
I do not have patients compress their abdomen after a tummy tuck. That can be dangerous.
hi doctor i have my surgery 1 week back ,you suggest me not to wear body corset costume?
I advise my patients to begin to wear a faja 2 weeks after a tummy tuck.
The faha? Don't know how it's spelled.
How long do I have to be off from work as a physical therapist
I would say three weeks as a PT because your job is physical. For a desk job patients are usually back to work in 2 weeks. But for you no heavy lifting for 6 weeks after surgery.
My doctor put me in a faja at day 2 and I hate it.
Do you have to have drains? Is glue good?
There are surgeons who don't use drains. It became popular to stop using drains but I think a lot of surgeons have gone back to using drains so we get the fluid out. I personally use drains but if you don't want a drain you should be able to find someone who performs a drainless tummy tuck.
No reason to be scared of the drains. They were no issue and it was actually comforting to see the fluid leave the body. Sometimes nurses or Drs forget to take the lid of the drain before removal. I was told that hurts. Both mine were removed and I didn't feel a thing (lids were off).
After a full TT without lipo, do I need to wear a compression garment and compresion stocking after?
Stockings yes. And then a faja at 2 weeks after surgery and wear the faja for 6 weeks in total after your TT.
Thank you Doctor. You are the best 😊
Are fajas garments? Because I had to wear a garment out of surgery.
Yes a faja is a compression garment. ogeerecovery.com/products/ogee-faja
@@DrWilliamMiami They had me wearing it day 1 out of surgery.
For a BBL or lipo that's what I do too but with a tummy tuck I have my patients start two weeks after their surgery but keep in mind all surgeons are different in terms of their recovery protocols.
Im still walking prettt hunched over and im at 2 weeks post op exactly. Is this normal? Im worried ill always look concave atp.
I’m confused several plastic surgeons says to where a faja after surgery
Keep in mind we are all different in our advice. I just share my recovery protocols. I don't want my patients to be in a faja immediately after surgery because I worry that the pressure of the faja, or a compression board, will injure the blood supply and create dead tissue in the freshly performed tummy tuck. You have to remember that the blood supply to the skin in the abdomen after a tummy tuck has been weakened.
@@DrWilliamMiamiso what garment do you suggest, do you all still use binders after surgery? If so do we wear the binder for 2 weeks? Thanks
Can the 3wk tt workouts be done when a reduction was done the same time?
Yes!
Can you just walk only after three weeks of surgery or u need to do more then just walking?
Walk starting day 1 just around the house on short trips but frequently, (every hour), and as you heal and feel better you walk further and further each day until you feel well enough to start gentle exercise (3 weeks) and then resume full exercise at 6 weeks.
Are there any drs in nj you recommend?
I don't have any plastic surgeons that I know in NJ. I do know Dr. Steven Kovach at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia who I trained with at Duke and he is one of the best plastic surgeons I know.
How can I get a consultation with you.
You can email Yimey directly at yimey.drwilliammiami@gmail.com and she can help you.
@@DrWilliamMiamido you recommend a tummy tuck and bbl at the same time?
can i have the name of the gel and brand?
Of course, here is a link: ogeerecovery.com/
My surgeon put me in a faja one week out.
Can I have a tummy tuck with a spinal fusion scar?
You can yes.
My dream to have a tummy tuck with you one day is soon
Are wedges better than a Recliner ?
Yes.
Why ?? @@DrWilliamMiami
Nobody told me these things
How come some doctors recommend fajas after surgery 😮
Because there is no data so it comes down to surgeon preference.
❤❤❤❤
Today I am 10 days PO
have all of you who have undergone the operation already given birth to children or are there girls who have not given birth yet?
Most of the time patients will have a tummy tuck after they are finished having children, but there are certainly patients who have tummy tucks for other reasons like weight loss or post-menopausal changes that leave patients with extra skin.
I’m day 3 and have been able to walk around and stopped taking pain medication but as far as the faja I have that on and was told to keep it on. It is really uncomfortable and hard to breathe. I’m conflicted most surgeons recommend it ….. idk what to do
is my dream to have T Tuck with you one day❤
Me 2 let’s pray together one of us if not both will get it done!
Omg
Can you please do a video on reverse abdominplasty
I can't because I don't do that operation. I have never really liked the results from that operation and the scarring I have seen is really bad so I have never performed that operation so I can't really make a video about it.
