Miho's love for her father created the dream of playing for him in Wacken. Even without his physical presence, she performed in Wacken. Now I understand why she cried at the end when thanking all the employees. We owe the Lovebites project to her. She is a great leader, an excellent bass player, a composer, and her stage presence makes her a giant. I miss her a lot. I wish her much happiness and success. When I think of Lovebites, I always think of her too. Thank you very much, Miho.
It was previous bassist, Miho's, father who passed away not long before this concert. He was a paramedic who passed on at a relatively young age of 49. She wrote this song as a tribute to him. Miho was very close to her father who brought her to metal/rock concerts when she was very young. It was from these shows that she developed her passion for metal.
This song was writen by Miho, the bass player in mid/late 2018 after his father (a paramedic) dies at 49 in august that year. This was the first time they play it live at January 27, 2019, less than 6 months after that, so Miho was hitted hard then.
Miho's father is the reason Lovebites exists. If he wasn't into music and didn't take her to concerts we would have been missing the best metal band. Miho and her father used to attend concerts together in this venue.
@@Oz-gv5fz That's a solid theory. I have posted the same theory on other reactions when people come up with a wild story about what happened. Especially when a character assassination of any one of the band members is a part of that absurd theory. Miho's father dying was devastating to her. She was a true Daddy's girl. And that's not a bad thing. May Miho's father rest in peace.
@@ChuckJansenII So true. You could see in the live shows like Heavy Metal Never Dies and the show they did a bunch of videos from in 2022, Miho seemed to almost be on autopilot on stage. Still playing like a beast, but million mile stare and such. Always thought that Covid struck her at a cruel time to leave her alone with her thoughts about her dad, etc, and that that and maybe a mix of any other minor tensions, snowballed. I do think there was some internal stuff, not spite, power struggles or the like, despite what the trolls like to say, just maybe a push more toward pure Power Metal from Miyako and Midori, that maybe added with the rest. The last is PURE speculation, but the Glory EP and Judgement day are least diverse albums they have ever released. Still amazing, but almost pure P-Metal, vs the mix of P-Metal, Thrash, Glam, NWOBHM and other influences of the first 3 LP. And I've noticed that the cover bands Miho has been playing with since have all been almost exclusively 80s and early 90s metal stuff. Regardless, I don't think Miho would have come back to play for Nameless Warrior or Painkiller if there was the acrimony the assholes like to try to claim. Or that a grown ass woman like Asami or Haruna (or Midori) would stick around if Miyako was some abusive tyrant. They apparently wanted different paths and the rest of the ladies seemed to want to go on their current voyage. And Miho is on hers, and I hope nothing but success and happiness for all 6 ladies.
I have the bluray and I can hardly watch it because of this. Miho's father was his strongest supporter - he was a music lover too, and used to take his girl to concerts. she even went to that same venue with him when she was a teenager and told him that one day she would be the one on stage. And he died too soon to see it. Miho's such a trooper here, totally broken but not missing a note.
Miho/bass the founder of this band. This is her vision of a metal band with more European influences and singing in English. Her dream was to play at Wacken Open Air which came true within 2 years of the band's birth (1st all female Japanese band to play at the Mecca of Metal). This song screams of her pain and anguish for the loss of her father at the young age of 49. He is the main influence in her love of music and metal in particular and took her to many concerts and left her with a profound love of metal (Steve Harris of Maiden is her idol). She left the band for personal reasons, which many of us still feel is due to this heartache that you watched on display. Asami ever the total empathetic soul comforts her here. The Wolfpack would never exist if it weren't for Miho and she is forever loved and missed. Fami the new bassist didn't fill her shoes, she brought her own and now enjoys more shine time than Miho did during her time with the band. Haruna/drums was with Miho in Destrose (former band) and she stayed after her departure which saved the band from coming to an end IMHO. A song that really tears up the Wolfpack every time it is viewed!!!!!!
agreed, and just to augment on the relationship between composing abilities and quality of musicianship: Lovebites are immaculately flawless in their performance primarily attributed to them being the traditional music sheet musicians, which is getting fewer by the day, especially in heavy metal, as the world revolves around fast and do-it-yourself concepts. Composing and arrangement is that painstaking part of a musicians life that we don't get to see, but indispensable to improve and enrich the music execution ability, and quality musicians are a result of what they write. Scan the jazz fusion world, and be witness to surviving accomplished musicians/composer beyond 50 years of age who are still writing and performing. These are excellent musicians who sends music as a work of art to arouse the emotion by penetrating the ears and embeds it in the heart. On the same token, though Lovebites play heavy metal, but they entrench themselves and thrive on the landscape of excellent musicianship. Music is for the ears first and only then for the eyes. Flashy fingers and lightning fret movers without ability to read and write and hence compose will be dinosaurs in no time: proven!

Always a very tough video to watch of Miho. Talk about taking one for the team and gutting it out. Lots of respect for Miho. 🙏 Not many would be in the right frame of mind to play a full show after shortly losing their father And yes, another gem off Clockwork Immortality. LP is full of them. 🤘
It's great that you reacted to this one. With Miho no longer in the band, I don't think we will see this performed again, and it is an important part of the band's history, given that Miho was a co-founder, and her father was the reason for it, ultimately. Miho was known to have had trouble with her father's death (I lost mine about the same time I discovered Lovebites, so I really related). I am so happy for her that the band supported her with a song in tribute to him. I am 100% sure Miho wanted that for him at this venue, but it must have been really hard. The song makes me happy for her in that way, but at the same time, it breaks my heart to see her cry. We love you Miho, wherever you are!
Although this song was indeed written for Miho's father, this performance was in 2019, meaning he passed away before COVID even started. It's still extremely emotional, though.

This song always made wolfpack sad and cry... I want to explain a little about "49". IT IS NOT "Miho's father's age". This number is referring to buddhism: "Buddhists believe when someone dies, their soul is held for 49 days between death and rebirth. Because a soul without a body in a transient state can better accept the law of truth, it can gain enlightenment and move on to the next life." Also, the family has to pray for 7 days and 7 weeks for the dead person to help the spirit to pass for this process. MIHO was in her late 20's or early 30's when her father passed away, so it is impossible that her father age was "49" at the moment of his death. Japanese people does not usually get married younger but mostly at their late 20's and forth. So NOBODY knows MIHO's father's age for sure except his own family obviously. I hope this clarify the meaning of the "49" in the song. Now hear the song again with this meaning in mind.
excellent reaction , thank you , I saw from her social that Miho played this song a few days ago , in a cover night , I could be wrong but I think it is the only song of Lovebites that she still plays

LOVEBITES - Journey To The Other Side lyrics:
Across the River Styx
Within the half eclipse
This is the beginning of your final judgement days
Now then, let’s count your sins
Lies will bring discipline
Too late to apologize, it’s time to pay the price
You’ve saved the lives of countless souls
Except your very own life
I’m suffering sorrow and pain
It’s killing me inside
Counting to forty-nine
Your sentence comes in time
Till then please let us mourn
To lighten your burden
I dedicate this song to you
It’s too early for death
I hate to say goodbye to you
But I’ve got to say…
Journey to the other side
Pray for you, always in our memories
Carry on your great legacy
Journey to the other side
I will stay strong because I know it
Won’t be long till I see you again
Someday
SOLO: miyako / midori
Counting to forty-nine
Your sentence comes in time
Till then please let us mourn
To lighten your burden
I dedicate this song to you
It’s too early for death
I hate to say goodbye to you

- 'Across the River Styx' - In ancient Greek mythology, the Styx is a river in the underworld of the god of death, Hades.
Across the River Styx, the carrier Charon takes the souls of the dead from the world of the living to the underground Kingdom of the Dead by boat.
- 'Counting to forty-nine' - Miho's father was 49 years old.
'- You've saved the lives of countless souls. Except your very own life ' - Miho's father was a medical worker.
'Journey to the Otherside' ( lyrics):
Across the River Styx
Within the half eclipse
This is the beginning of your final judgment days
Now then, let's count your sins
Lies will bring discipline
Too late to apologize, it's time to pay the price
You've saved the lives of countless souls
Except your very own life
I'm suffering, sorrow and pain
It's killing me inside
Counting to forty-nine
Your sentence comes in time
'til then please let us mourn
To lighten your burden
I dedicate this song to you
It's too early for death
I hate to say goodbye to you
But I've got to say
Journey to the other side
Pray for you, always in our memories
Carry on your great legacy
Journey to the other side
I know I'll stay strong because
It won't be long until I see you again
Someday
Across the River Styx
Within the half eclipse
This is the beginning of your final judgment days
You've saved the lives of countless souls
Except your very own life
I'm suffering, sorrow and pain
It's killing me inside
Journey to the other side
Pray for you, always in our memories
Carry on your great legacy
Journey to the other side
I know I'll stay strong because
It won't be long until I see you again
Someday
Counting to forty-nine
Your sentence comes in time
'til then please let us mourn
To lighten your burden
I dedicate this song to you
It's too early for death
I hate to say goodbye to you
But I've got to say
Journey to the other side
Pray for you, always in our memories
Carry on your great legacy
Journey to the other side
I know I'll stay strong because
It won't be long until I see you again
Someday

Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙌
This song was written to dedicate to Miho’s father, who passed a way. He was the paramedic. That’s why Miho got so emotional with this song.
Although this song was indeed written for Miho's father, this performance was in 2019, meaning he passed away before COVID even started. It's still extremely emotional, though.
@@PaulEMoz Miho's father died 5 months before this concert, in August 2018. On August 4, 2018, LOVEBITES performed at 'Wacken Open Air (Germany), on August 10, 2018, LOVEBITES performed at 'Bloodstock Open Air' (UK)
This song always breaks my heart. Miho's bass line is just phenomenal.
Me too. 😔

Such a good rock song and at the same time a tear jerker, was so nice of Asami the way she handled this performance with Miho. 🤘🥲

This song always made wolfpack sad and cry... I want to explain a little about "49". IT IS NOT "Miho's father's age". This number is referring to buddhism:
"Buddhists believe when someone dies, their soul is held for 49 days between death and rebirth. Because a soul without a body in a transient state can better accept the law of truth, it can gain enlightenment and move on to the next life."
Also, the family has to pray for 7 days and 7 weeks for the dead person to help the spirit to pass for this process.
It does, thank you.
excellent reaction , thank you , I saw from her social that Miho played this song a few days ago , in a cover night , I could be wrong but I think it is the only song of Lovebites that she still plays
Thanks for watching

A song that always gets under my skin, even though I didn't even know the person it was written about, Miho's father. A great/moving tribute. 🙏🏻✨

This one is always a hard watch. Hats off to LOVEBITES and especially to Miho for getting through this. So brave of her to do this in public but she had to do it for her father. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Miho the bassist lost her Father an Ambulance Driver he was 49

I usually don't listen to this song. It's sad. It's Miho's song. Lovebites won't perform this song anymore. 😔
I have a hard time with this one too.
For obvious reasons, they only played this song live once. Miho just couldn't bring herself to do it again.
Makes my eyes water every time I see this one.
They actually played it 2 more times after this and then retired the song.
@@kylenavyguy Thanks for the clarification man.

This is a great and extraordinary song, moving in the texts, powerful and profound in music, and unfortunately very underestimated and not very presented in the reactions. So thanks for proposing it, your Lovebites support is becoming enormous and important. A hug for Miho🤎
