    To gain maximum efficiency from the closer and opening/closing forces, you should fit as per the template. It’s unlikely to harm the closer. It may mean you need to put extra effort into opening the door because of the angle of the arm.

    My technician fitted the arm 3 centimeters more to the left than it said in the template, the template said 222 mm, will this become an issue over time?..or can I just leave it like this and regulate the other arm length settings to properly set the angles of the arms? I don't want to move it 3 centimeters to the right and have holes in my door :/

    Is the opening resistance adjusted only by the power valve?
    I struggle to find the balance between having low opening resistance and enough power to overcome the latch when closing.
    When it closes properly, the door is a bit heavy for children to open.
    It's an outerdoor. Closer mounted outside.
    Thank you for a great video

    What tool do you use to adjust the door?

  • @peterxie7338

    For open out installation, we shall adjust speed at step one, which are both anti clockwise in Dorma instruction. Could you explain why it is different with this video? Thanks!

  • @chrishiggins9752
    @chrishiggins9752 6 лет назад +3

    Be handy if you'd said which direction to turn the power screw to increase/decrease the power. Assume it's clockwise for increase, but I could have assumed that without watching the video! Good nevertheless.

    This video is great, fixed so many slamming doors in my workplace. Can you tell me, is it OK to set the time delay to maximum to hold the door open until pushed to close, or could the closer be damaged using it like this?

    • @shaunbrown6066
      @shaunbrown6066 3 года назад +1

      It would be better to set up the delay to the required time if possible because although the TS83 has a pressure relief value it will increase pressure build up in the closer unnecessarily.

      @@shaunbrown6066 Hi, The hinge is on the left in the video. Well, even if the hinge is on the right, should we turn the 1 or 2 setting clockwise again to slow down the speed of the door?

    Hello. My TS83 doesn't have "1" and "2" for adjusting speed and latch. It's just one and it only adjusts the sweep speed but not the last 15 degrees?

    • @shaunbrown6066
      @shaunbrown6066 4 года назад +2

      Hi Daniel if you dont have the latch value on your closer you will need to adjust the angle of the arm as shown in the video from around 35 seconds. Adjusting the angle of the arm correctley can increase and decrease the latchinf effect.
      hope this helps and thanks for watching the video.

    Hi nice informative vid. the problem I have with a door is it shuts ok then the last 3 inches it shuts quicker and causes a noise problem, how do I fix this cheers

    • @shaunbrown6066
      @shaunbrown6066 4 года назад

      I assume you tried screwing the latch value in clockwise and if you still have this problem it could be broken, or the arm configuration is incorrectly fitted.
      What make and model of door closer have you got?

    Hi I have been having trouble with the ts 73 and 83 door closers. The last inch or two it speeds up and slams making banging noise. But when I slow the latch speed down it takes too long and it still bangs at the last inch or 2. Any help appreciated, I did install as to the instructions. Does the top arm that fixes to frame have to be on frame or can it go onto architrave? It's says on drawings max 15mm distance away from frame or is it bettet to fix top arm onto frame?

    Am I right in thinking that if the door hinges are on the right hand side of the door, ie on the opposite to the ones in the video, should I turn the TS83 closer upside down to fit it?

    Ive failed at step one. How do I get the covering off to access the screws? I've tried sliding it every which way but it seems stuck on...

    • @shaunbrown6066
      @shaunbrown6066 4 года назад

      It should just slide out with a small amount of friction. If the faceplate has been glued in place you will probably end up damaging the cover and need to order a spare replacement. check the door closer body isn't damaged at the ends preventing the cover from sliding out.
      if you need a new faceplate please contact doorspares on tradecounters-ly@dorma-uk.co.uk

    The door is slamming shut I have slid out the cover and noticed the screws are marked differently to your video.
    My door adjusting screws are marked with 13o-0o DC/SV and BC/OD.Please can you confirm what screws to adjust to stop door from slamming. Thanks

      Are there any signs of oil leaking from the closer? If so, it’s time for a new closer the 0 to 13 valve should slow down the last few degrees.
      Dc is delayed closing and BC is back check

    I have an TS 78, and i cant find videos for this model, probably to old model. I wonder where on my door i should place it, so it can make an 180 degrees opening

    • @shaunbrown6066
      @shaunbrown6066 3 года назад

      The TS78 was discontinued in the UK back in the 1980's but to achieve 180 deg opening it will depend on if the door frame will allow 180 degree in the first instance and then which fixing configuation you are using.
      good to see you have a DORMA closer from the 1970's that is still working.

    I've managed to get the closing speed and latch speed right. With the Power Setting, not sure if turning the screw is either way makes a difference, it takes some effort. I understand it is compressing or releasing the spring. How much travel or screw turns should there be please?

    • @shaunbrown6066
      @shaunbrown6066 10 месяцев назад

      you can turn the allen key adjustment several complete 360 deg turns in either direction to adjust the spring strength. have you fitted the closer body as per the template?

    • @user-ir5nd7us6l
      @user-ir5nd7us6l 10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your help. The closer was already installed. Should the adjustment be made with the door open or closed? Could the disc that the screw drives and contacts the spring, be seized on the screw (turning with the screw and just rubbing on the spring). It takes some force to turn the screw@@shaunbrown6066

    • @shaunbrown6066

      Not sure what you mean. Mybe you have a broken hold open arm as the TS83 standard closers is not designed to hold open. Sounds like you need a door engineer to visit and take a look.
