Loving this Nicola. Of particular interest to me as my granddad (born 1901) told me a tale about when he and his cousin bunked off school to see Bleriot not long after he had flown the channel (1909). They went to The Welsh Harp to see him. I guess he probably flew into Hendon Airfield. I can now imagine where he and Jessie went, from their home in Hendon.
So much in this one! You and Si bring me joy nearly every Sunday, and I miss you when you don't post (no pressure, though; you have lives to live). But when you are together, it's always extra fun!
I really enjoyed your visits to the reservoir, Nicola! It's always such a treat to see you and Simon together. Your artwork does indeed prove the adage that "one man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure." You are indeed the rarest of all finds, Nicola!

Hi Nicola - This is Pallavi. I watch your videos sometimes and find them very interesting. I wanted to comment about one of your findings under the bridge. It's a statue of Lord Krishna along with Radha Ji and a cow. In Hinduism, people sometimes place statues that are chipped or no longer worshipped in such locations. Additionally, after certain worship rituals, clay statues are often offered to running water.
I love anyone that also gets excited by bits of things and discarded toys. We are Bower Birds, what my mother always called me. There was a gallery in NYC that showed a man’s collection of stuffed animals found on roads. There’s also a show of found objects. High Art. 😎
The plastic figure with the backpack and the helmet is a parachuter. I had them here the U.S. in the 1960s. The two loops on his back held two strings each which went to a large square parachute. You push the figure up inside the parachute (The larger the square, the better) and toss it in the air. He will then parachute back down. For BEST results, you launch him skyward with a catapult (a "slingshot" over here). He REALLY gains altitude that way, before he comes back down to earth. Barry
I would so love to mudlark a fabulous place like that. You are lucky. love that little glass. Such a great job cleaning up the 'orphans.' Such beautiful junk art you created at the end.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to say a big thank you to all the volunteers, Nicola, Si and the ones who I have not mentioned by name(Short memory.😃), for helping collect the garbage that people had thrown in the canal. I don’t understand why things get thrown in the canal and the waterways but they do and beautiful volunteers go and pick it up, so thank you so much!!☺️ Nicola, you are such a sweet person and I love how you rescued those stuffed animals and toys. I always felt bad that they were always discarded as if they weren’t loved anymore, but you are giving them new life, thank you!!🥰 Si, I love your videos and the antics you get up to but the one thing I do really appreciate is your personality. You are so easy-going and I love that in person. You make looking at things in the mud exciting and who knew that would be so exciting?😃 Thank you for being you!! If I had a wish granted on this level, it would be that everyone would respect nature and put plastics in the rightful place after use, and that would be a recycling bin. These birds and animals that live around the bushes and so forth, sometimes eat pieces of plastic which they can’t digest and it affects their health, so it’s humans that are not respecting nature that are doing this to these animals. If we all do our part, we can make a big difference. Again, thank you to everybody that helped and collected plastics and garbage from the canal!!🥰🥰
