  • A SORCERY FOR A COMMANDER? What manner of sorcery is this?! We borrow Extus, Oriq Overlord's legendary body to use the Sorcery on the back side of his card as our actual Commander. A little side note: while this seems like the perfect candidate for an "Aristocrats" deck, I already have a Prossh deck that is running that theme so I decided not to play any Aristocrats pieces in this deck, as I wanted it to be ALL about the Blood Avatars as our win condition!

The idea behind a sac outlet like Viscera Seer over Krav is usually if you are looking to sacrifice one creature over and over, not 10 at once. As well, usually when playing a card like viscera seer, you are using it purely to sacrifice things for free for some other benefit, for instance if you had a blood artist on board and a creature that replaces itself. Instead of 2 mana to get the specific benefit of blood artist, you pay 0. Yes, you lose out ok the card draw and lifegain, but if the death trigger is what you are after, viscera seer is leagues better.
Krav is great when you have 13 dinguses on board, but why not just use those 13 to cast awaken the blood god again?
The third point to make is that the one mana can make a difference of a whole turn cycle. Say you are stuck on 5 mana, with a creature or set of creatures you want to sac. For sake of argument lets say viscera seer is 5cmc, not 1. You pay 5 for krav, and you have a card that does essentially nothing. Play viscera seer, nd you can get immediate sacs. Plus you can go one by one. If someone stifles krav, you got rid of 10 things, paid a mana and got 0 benefit. If they stifle viscera seer, you lost 1 thing and 1 ability you dont care about.

Although. I'm surprised if you're running krav, you aren't running the partner as well. Think of the scenario you have a bunch of mana. Sac things on your turn for a black, on end step, gain 2 tokens. Sac them next turn for a black, draw 2 gain 2, make 2 more. Or Sac 1 and net a token for awaken the blood avatar on your turn.

@@misterz1364 all great points! I wasn’t trying to throw any shade at Viscera Seer, he’s a fantastic sac outlet that I’ve used in a lot of decks. The thing I love about Krav is that he’s the ultimate “break glass in case of board wipe” sac outlet- basically a great one to have when people try to Wrath your giant armies. Works similarly well when you want to do the ‘ol Block & Sac move with a bunch of doomed chump blockers. Turning bad situations into value feels good!

Only written deck lists should be categorized by card type. Commander deck tech videos just work better in this "group by purpose" format.

Appreciate the input! I think I will keep doing it this way from now on
