For the Debrief, would y'all ever consider doing a control experiment with your equipment. Just so we can compare the tools to how they act in "haunted" places, versus locations with no reported paranormal activity.
Will you guys investigate Mount Wilson Ranch? Ghost Adventures went but only focused on alien activity. I’m the owner and sent you guys an email a few months ago!! Sam and Colby were supposed to come but due to health issues couldn’t make it out.
i haven’t even seen the ep yet, but wouldn’t a tricked out escape room be uniquely capable of fooling y’all and its guests with illusions? like they surely would want to be viewed as haunted.
Shane is totally right. If you run an escape room, you definitely have a vested interest in the place being “haunted”. It brings all the evidence into question for sure
Also weird how Shane apparently knew about routes and rooms that Ryan didn't - which is how Shane eventually ended up crouched in that space below the woman in the coffin. Shane could only have gotten that info from the escape room staff.
We need a blind study in which half the locations are rumoured to be haunted and half aren’t, but the ghoul bois aren’t told which ones are which. We should also tell them that some of the “clean” ones are haunted and some of the haunted ones are “clean” to see if it influences the results through confirmation bias. If you know somewhere is haunted for example, your brain may make connections between random words in the ovilus or creaks heard in the building. Shane would love it
Nah. If you really want to eliminate bias, you tell them a place is haunted and nothing more. Let us the audience know the hot spots but not the boys. And let them just walk around and figure IF there are hot spots. If they get the same results as what we know to be hot spots then there is some circumstantial evidece.
@@_Moe idk. I think ryan would be down because if his evidence matches the hot spots without them knowing from the get go, then that legitimate evidence. They went in blind and still got hits on the hot spots without them knowing beforehand. Even shane would have to give some credence to that. Thats the scientific method afterall. Conducting an experiment without any expectations and getting the same results.
@@paulstrife i think that's more the fact that he's getting more used to doing this, and there's nothing wrong with that! But seeing them investigate a place that feels too much like a commercial kinda brings down the whole purpose of these investigations, hence why he's not even remotely scared in this place as opposed to their prior investigation
Yeah, I feel like Ryan wouldn't have been super relaxed about sitting on the stairs in the attic, if he really thought the place was haunted. Which, ya know, is fair.
@@andremendez_I agree with you when it comes to being a little less noticeably scared because he’s a little used to it. However, even with last week, he was still noticeably scared, even though it isn’t AS noticeable. This episode, however, he’s clearly not scared.
Personally, I just find it amazing that the chemistry between Shane and Ryan can even carry an episode as dead as this. Proof that our boys don't need to fist fight ghosts or hear funny sounds to be entertaining.
This isn't the first time that they visited a location with little to no activity. The essence of this show and Unsolved Supernatural has always been about the skeptic and the believer, not the locations.
I do think episodes where there is little to no evidence or mild activity does stand out in itself. Why do some places have so much activity compared to others. In a sense the lack of evidence just solidifies that some places do have something strange going on.
people actually watch these for ghost evidence? 💀 it's been f knows how many years, there is none. i watch these cuz its shane and ryan, i didn't even notice there was little activity until i read the comments
I honestly think the ones with little to no convincing evidence lend credibility to them as ghost hunters too. Soooo many ghost hunting shows and youtubers would rather fake stuff or edit in a way to make it look more exciting than it really is, but Shane and Ryan don't have to rely on that crap. They've got true integrity and chemistry that makes their shows so good.
You can tell how haunted a place could potentially be by how chill Ryan is on his solo. This place ain’t even garnished with ghosts. Unseasoned skinless chicken breast made by a middle age diet influencer is more haunted than this location.
Remember how people kept telling them to do a non-haunted location and see if they could gather the same evidence as more historically "haunted" ones? Well, this is that place I guess.
I'd call myself a boogara, and I'm going to firmly say there's absolutely NOTHING going on at Dare2Escape. They got some free publicity out of the boys, this episode had no compelling evidence at all. I look forward to Shane absolutely dunking on this place in the debrief. I honestly expect Ryan to be just as merciless. You could tell by how calm he was for the majority of the solo investigation. Definitely still a fun episode, and it lends credence to Ryan's claims that everything they do is good faith, with no camera tricks or BS. Gotta show both the duds and the bangers.
Ryan will unnecessarily hate on Shane though lmao, that’s what I’m predicting, I mean in the last debrief the guy was so adamant about calling a LITERAL CAT a “ghost” so idk about this one tbh
I agree this episode was a dud in the spooky department. I appreciate they showed this one for that. It also reaffirms these two are hilarious. They don’t need any ghosts to be entertaining.
What universe do you live in where you think Ryan is going to employ common sense? When Shane pointed out how this could be publicity, Ryan called it "excuses".
I agree...I consider myself a Boogara are based on my own personal experiences. However, this place is literally wired for remote trickery top to bottom. Even if it were genuinely haunted, it is too easy to rule something as human generated or electrical in nature. I'd need to see a full body apparition on camera with no one in the building and the whole strip mall area without power to think there was actually something there.
I think because it’s such a modern place, like they mentioned at the beginning, it doesn’t have that spooky, haunted vibe. It’s just an escape room place with all the lights off. Not to say modern day places can’t be haunted, because Garrett Watts did a video at a makeup studio and it was totally creepy
okay i have an amazing idea. Shane picks a place (haunted or not), does his research, doesnt tell Ryan anything about it (to help get rid of confirmation bias) and then they visit the place and Ryan feels it out and says if it's haunted or not, they do everything else as usual, and during spirit box sessions if words are brought up that match the story of the place Shane can admit it!
I’ve always wanted them to just use their equipment like on the watcher set. Or just in a field outside. But Ryan could still argue that there could be ghosts anywhere. DO IT IN THE CAR! drive around and do an estes method session.
Yeah. Especially the footage of the room with the monkey. It would obviously be super profitable for these people to be on this show and it seemed like a little too much u know.
I'm not a shaniac by any means, but I agree with Shane on this. I was immediately skeptical when it was a "haunted" escape room. Way to attract more people to your area...
Same can be said about most of the places they visited. The only exceptions I can think of at the top of my head is the goatman bridge (bc it's free) and that one girls apartment 😅 All of the other places would benefit from the exposure.
They're basically all this place... tourist traps based on a little history, a little conspiracy, a little theater, and a whole lot of mouth to mouth marketing. Same thing with UFO tourist traps. It's a gimmick. And this is coming from someone who _wants_ to believe. Buuuut... ehhh? Not much solid stuff to go on. And these guys go to all the same places all the "big timers" go to... yet nothing reall6 evident time after time. Not to mention the "gadgets" being so much sillier in their hands.
@@knightogourdI respect Ryan’s 24/7 beach boy stoner aesthetic but I also respect Shane’s hipster riddler / crazy maths prof / Paddington / ice cream man / Lucius Malfoy aesthetic.
@Joanna-tx1ss I think that ryan isn't entirely beach stoner boy because in the latest season of puppet history, we saw some of his sluttiest outfits yet
I agree, this feels... not haunted; the "evidence" provided by the staff is more than likely not legitimate. When the one woman was talking about "her experience" in the 7th room, it looked as though she was looking down from the camera a few times, as though she was reading lines. Surely, if you were recounting your experience, you wouldn't need to look away to *the same spot* each time because, you know, you'd remember all the details of what you would say next? Her recount seemed rehearsed.
Like others in the comments, I thinks this "haunting" was all set up by the business owners but listening to Ryan and Shane make dirty jokes and then Shane leads Ryan through an escape room is still pretty fun.
I love that I genuinely do trust their evidence more because sometimes they do have episodes where nothing spooky happens and they're just goofing around
Shane's totally right to be doubly skeptical. You're literally in a spot SET UP to do "ghostly" stuff, taking the word of employees. It'd be super easy to fake, and "haunted escape room" must be GREAT for publicity lol
yeah, the employees definitely set this shit up. disappointed but also thankful that they were willing to post this to be like: yeah, not all places are haunted. @@Slyphantom
@@victoriakelley664 I don't doubt the sounds Ryan and Shane heard, but since the business is rigged to be haunted, it was likely their doing. The debrief is going to be roooooough
This episode is the equivalence of the boys at Knott's Berry Farm just having a silly good time. I am glad to see them have fun when no ghost is around. You can tell, because Ryan is not disasociating himself to cope with his fear.
@@annlyp6303super stupid, there’s never ghosts because ghosts aren’t real 😂 half the audience believes that ghosts aren’t real so we NEVER care about evidence and watch for the boys. That’s what it’s always been about. So the people getting tied up in knots about ghosts don’t understand the real purpose of these shows: for two best friends to have a good time together, sometimes teach each other things, and grow together.
@@wolfiemuse i think a lot of boogaras think shaniacs watch it to laugh and insult people who believe in ghosts - i could NOT CARE LESS! i dont think ive had so much fun watching these guys fuck around, or ryan run around screaming
This is one of my favourite Ghost Files episode for that reason 😂 it felt like the old days with them goofing off. I don't mind that Ryan isn't scared lol as long as it's funny
I'm a boogara but i totally agree with shane on this one that it seems a little too perfect that an escape room is haunted in such a theatrical manner. it seems too manufactured to be authentic in any way.
My husband owns and runs an escape room. Our locks and electronics reset and malfunction constantly. It’s not ghosts, they just get abused by enthusiastic escape room goers and people trying to find a way to cheat.
the fact that ryan didnt even say a line about how much he likes to torture himself with going into the solo investigations this video really speaks to how unpersuasive this location was lol
I feel like they took this location opportunity as a little reprieve from the more intense stuff. Going to prisons like the last episode must be mentally exhausting so I’m glad they could laugh and relax this time. Hopefully next episode is an actual haunted place though!😅
I would agree with that, but it's gotta be mentally exhausting just a little bit to even fly all the way from LA to Florida for a place to not be haunted
Even though the "hauntings" in this escape room just feels very much like a way to draw in customers, this is easily one of the silliest episodes the boys have had in while. Peak RUclips content
I’m not gonna lie, so far this place just seems like a gimmick. Out of last season, this just doesn’t seem haunted at all. I’m glad Shane and Ryan had lots of fun with this one.
I'm so grateful for Shane being real and being able to call bs. Like saying how the escape room being 'haunted' is gimmicky and calling out Ryan for thinking the cat is a ghost last ep LOL.
Regarding the photo (and I don't know if anyone else has commented this), depending on when the photo was taken, you can actually tell which was dead just by who in the photo is stiller. Because photos used to take so long to take and process, people would naturally sway or move slightly while holding still to take a photo, making them slightly blurrier. However, and this may come as a shock, dead people actually don't move, meaning that they would be very clear in their photos. The Winchester Mystery House has some really cool examples of these types of "Post Mortem" photos.
There’s a good example of identical twins who were about 4. One is perfectly clear the other has about 3 blurry faces all look like they’re screaming. It’s so creepy.
For the Debrief, would y'all ever consider doing a control experiment with your equipment. Just so we can compare the tools to how they act in "haunted" places, versus locations with no reported paranormal activity.
Theres ghosts everywhere tho really, they dont need to die there to be there. Like if someone died in hospital they will go home as thats where they have memories and are Happy etc.
Clearly the Ovilus saying "ring" and "nine" refers to the nine Rings of Power given to mortal men, corrupting their spirits and luring them into the service of Sauron, Dark Lord of Mordor
just starting this, but it really feels like this company got a bunch of people to send in "evidence" so that you guys would go check it out and they could advertise being like "look we're an actual scary escape room" lol
I still think the evidence at Eastern State Penitentiary is the most compelling piece till date. When they are little bit inside the entrance and then they keep hearing footsteps and someone running on the top floor for sometime (to which even Shane agreed). It would be great if they could visit that place with all the new equipments they have now, I am sure some more evidence can be gathered. Love from India btw
The BEST evidence they've had is Spaghetti Apple Tater. They got the same sequence of words at the same location on two separate visits. As goofy as it sounds, that's pretty compelling, considering that at is repeated results. On top of that all, Shane was the one to point it out the second time, not Ryan
@@KVGKQuake I think the lighthouse episode was the most convincing - Ryan had the most normal conversation and he was so shocked he left the building. It gave me chills because it felt like he was talking to someone next to him
@@drypickle7444they really should go back to the lighthouse again, especially with all the new equipment they have now. Maybe since Ryan is better at being in haunted places now, he could actually converse with them this time
The ovilus always makes me laugh the hardest. “Nerd”, “daddy”, and now “wow” lmao! The timing and the way the ovilus voice said it is really what made it so funny to me.
Does anyone else remember the Ghost Hunters episode where the owners had tricks planted, and the guys found them all? Like they were saying “people see the chandeliers swing,” but then the guys crawled up into the ceiling and found pneumatics attached to them to make them swing. The guys were FURIOUS and confronted the owner, who tried to play it cool but was clearly sweating bullets at getting caught. I’m currently feeling deja vu. I feel like the tricks in this case are less obvious, but could still be a plant.
JFC, Ghost Hunters is literally one of the dumbest, fakest shows out there. The fact that they ‘caught’ the tricks is only to trick gullible people into believing they’re actually skeptics and that their investigations must be real. Please tell me you’re not enough of an idiot to buy anything you see on that show
I honestly don’t recall - I only saw the episode once like 15 years ago. But I have a very clear memory of one of the guys opening a ceiling tile, and then the two of them finding a mask behind a “mirror” (actually one-way glass) that would light up, I think on a motion sensor or timer. ETA: it was Moss Beach Distillery. They have since claimed that GH knew the whole time and that they were surprised by the edit, but if that’s the case I don’t know why they would even have filmed the opening tour with the distillery employee saying “oh, people see these chandeliers swing.” Also if the owner was acting, give that man an Oscar. I’ve never seen a better “trying to play it cool when I know I’ve been caught out” performance in my life.
2:43 Shane, if you're scared of antique stores, come to Savage Mill in Laurel, Maryland! It's allegedly very haunted with several well-known ghosts and the entire basement is a huge antique store featuring THE creepiest dolls you have ever seen. It used to be a cotton mill dating back to the 1800s (the building is on the National Register of Historic Places) and has a lot of Civil War history as well. Genuinely one of the creepiest places I've ever been and I don't even believe in ghosts - but it does have a very nice vegan coffee shop, so it's worth risking a haunting. :)
@@Kayla_P99 It's great. I got a vintage 1930s dress for homecoming one year at the antique store so I'm probably very haunted now. Also, it's surrounded by creepy abandoned mill buildings in the woods! Yaaay.
Shane: "So we're on the hunt for some knockers?" Ryan: "Could you be professional for one second?" Also Ryan: Just talked about how his ghost would possess a toilet. AND lets rip the biggest fart that gets picked up by the equipment.
Great historical locations as well! For that matter though, why limit to the UK? Throw in an EU tour alongside it. Germany HAS to have some great locations, and France is just full of gothic architecture… The US is full of “ghost hunting” history for sure, but they should definitely break out to some other places, if they can manage the budget at least.
I'd love to see a special episode where you guys go around somewhere absolutely no one says is haunted and treating it how you usually would to test the equipment and how you guys listen to things.
I actually like seeing them investigate this obviously not haunted place because it makes there other investigations feel more real and like the other locations may truly be haunted. You never see ghost investigation shows where they go into the location and find absolutely no actual evidence of a haunting. It's always that the house is haunted for sure. It's nice seeing actual haunting vs fake ones
There’s always the small chance that this is just a super clever and elaborate way of faking it, but the fact they commentate on other ghost hunting shows and also put all the time and production into an obviously unconvincing location is in itself convincing- and is really the reason I like Shane and Ryan so much
even though i don't think this place was haunted by anything but the aftermath of a few bachelor parties, i do like it when ryan and shane investigate places they were called into, like when they went to hannah's house. it's just a different vibe when they go somewhere that's not marketed as a haunted place
@@mauratyson9580Yeah, I think they meant some place that’s not an old prison, hospital, mansion, etc. The kinda place where they *only* do ‘haunted’ tours, ya know?
I don't really like when they do "house calls", cause when someone calls them there, they're very obviously lying. Or if it's a individual person, or so, they're clearly mentally unwell. Or at best, big fucking liars
hannah's house legtimately had some spooky stuff though, i cant remember what exactly but i enjoy it when they went to people's houses that were 'active' 'ghost spots'
The amount of rage I felt when Ryan asked if Thomas knew "Shave and a Haircut" and to finish it, but then didn't knock in the rhythm of "Shave and a Haircut" is difficult to put into words.
Could you imagine if ghosts were actually trying to communicate through the Ovilus but that device just kept spewing garbage words. How frustrating would that be?
This was very fun to watch since my roommate is a former escape room employee (totally different state and chain) who also swears their escape room was haunted, but who absolutely does not believe a single thing in this video. To paraphrase them: "Show me a haunted santa themed room with no horror elements and I'll believe you more than this episode."
37:27 - we were rewatching the episode and my roommate had the realization: if the trunk shown here is actually supposed to be "Nelson's trunk" then this place is 100% making shit up. That specific trunk is one that can be purchased from a company that makes props /specifically for escape room/ and is one of the most common trunks out there. In fact, *we literally have an identical trunk in our living room* Like. MAYBE they got the trunk from an antique store, but it's definitely just a Very Generic Trunk and probably not an "artifact" lol. This place does have very cool set design and a genius marketing team tho!
whenever the device was saying all the names and then last minute said “Tina”…I like to imagine all the ghosts were trying to get their names in and Tina was like OH SHIT last chance
It'd be funny if "Lisa, Ameline, Bill, Tina" were the names of the employees who were asked by their boss to fake a haunting. Imagine these underpaid employees faking a haunting, "this is bullshit, I just want my paycheck" only to be name-checked by the Ovilus and going "...is it actually haunted?"
I’m honestly surprised they’re even doing this episode. Usually I’m a boogara but this is obviously a ploy to get more business. A door opening on security footage is so textbook and would be very easy to do. Shane is right with this one!!! Edit: not judging the guys or the team! Just the business.
I agree, but a lot of the other places they do are places that have ghost tours and other such things and would also want free advertisement. The main reason this one feels more like a business ploy is because it's an unconventional place to be "haunted".
Pretty sure this is just a marketing ploy by the escape room. But it’s always entertaining with Shane and Ryan. And you know what, this place makes previous locations seem more convincing in being haunted 😂
i watch this for Ryan and Shane and their shenanigans, I couldn’t care less about where they go to but I have to say I was surprised they’d choose this location of all places. It was so obvious the owner merely wanted to drum up some business. That being said, funny as ever, boys!!
yeah i guess maybe they were looking for a "modern" looking location as opposed to the norm of an old decrepit building, but like there definitely could have been better places aside from this lol
I like to think they actually had a meeting on whether to go or not, and someone went, "It's clearly fake, but it would be funny to see if we gather anything"
As far as the picture of the couple, it was a very common practice, back then, for families to take a picture of a recently deceased family member with the family. They did it as a way to remember the loved one. Because these pictures were taken using a longer exposure time, the deceased is usually the one with the clearer image as a dead body doesn’t move. The live peoples are usually a bit more blurry because they couldn’t sit perfectly still.
@@jenk4545 lol "NEVER"??? it is true that the majority of postmortem photos were done with the deceased laying down, as it was the easiest. The dead person is already laying down anyway, so if you're taking a solo shot it's easier to dress them up in a comfortable looking bed. the most common type of postmortem photograph were daguerreotypes of deceased babies/infants, and even these ones had a few with the baby propped up in a seated position, usually in the arms of the parents. you GOTTA remember that this was a huge trend in the *Victorian era*, when memento mori had a resurgence. they had a completely different idea of "respect for the dead" as we do, and just overall had different sensibilities about death. if you think that propping up the deceased is huge disrespect, then i really advise you to NOT look up "victorian death masks" lmfao
@magibear357 A baby reclining in a parent's arms is NOT the same thing as rigging up AN ENTIRE ADULT CORPSE and propping it up in a chair or standing up, which was absolutely never done. Also, if you think the woman in that photo looks dead you need a seeing eye dog. Corpses do not look or behave at all like living people. They lose all muscle tone and their skin droops and sags. Have you never seen a dead person at a funeral? There is no way to prop them up in a photo and make them look anything like a living person.
unfortunately pretty sure they (the people who contacted Shane & Ryan) lied about this location being haunted, but the shorts representation we got in this vid makes up for it
My favorite parts of this show are when the ovilus or spirit box says something like “wow” that makes it seem like the ghosts are just shootin the shit with ryan and shane
I really appreciate places like this that don't seem really active. Not only for letting Ryan and Shane be chaotic and have fun, but also it makes the places that give lots of evidence more compelling
Yeah I agree, especially the mag light scenes. They say it goes off whenever its on that specific mode but here it never goes off, which is interesting because in the haunted places like the Whaley house it goes off and on when they ask questions, so definitely more credibility.
The wonderful thing about this episode is that it shows that the electronics that Shane and Ryan use DO respond to ACTUAL haunted places. Very little activity in this episode, which makes sense.
This place is more modern though with more insulation and less likely to fluctuate in temperatures from wind or outside sources, less likely to have potential bugs setting off things, lack of animals inside etc. So I feel like we can't concretely say that these devices only work in the more 'haunted' locations and rather they're just more responsive to the stimuli in old abandoned locations.
@@renangelo419 I was thinking the same thing. As entertaining as I find the ovilus, I can't even begin to process how any of that would work and I find all the rest of them dubious at best. If anything, this series is about how good Ryan and Shane are at riffing and improv.
@@sammyi2505agree, the ovilus' comedic timing is purely accidental which is honestly kinda sad. But yeah ultimately none of these 'tools' actually work.

My favorite part about the intro sting to these is how hard the editors had to have hunted for the 0.5 seconds of the episodes in which Shane looks genuinely concerned
I love how when the "ghost" asked Ryan for beer and he offered some, it said "percent," and he goes right to how much it'll get. Not what percent of alcohol it is. 😂
This felt like the least haunted location they’ve ever investigated. The ovilus was just giving them hints on how to solve the escape room. I’m 💯 for the clock talk, peeping at knockers, old man’s big chest, and Shane’s outfit.
How does their ghost machine telling them how to do the escape room prove it's not haunted??? When it says random meaningless words it's ghosts but when it helps you problem solve that's just normal??? If the machine is real (it's not) then it saying anything comprehensible at all should be proof of ghosts.
They prefaced the episode by saying they were invited to come. I do believe this is just a PR stunt for the place. I went there once. People coming I met were more interested in it being haunted. Also the staff can't wait to tell you about how haunted it. But it was a great escape room. Great episode. The ghoul boys were on point with the jokes and fun.
For the debrief: Knowing that people were likely to call BS on this one, what convinced you to investigate fully rather than just do the Escape Room as a fun bonus episode or silly season finale?
@@annlyp6303 In it's current format definitely, but gosh I bet it would be hilarious watching these two try to cooperate their way out of a haunted escape room 😂 x
I feel like it’s a bit odd how a lot of the evidence was either first discovered by employees at the place, or was sent in by actual employees. Obviously, if this place is haunted, then the people who are there the most (employees) are most likely to see something, but it’s still a little bit weird.
I worked at a historical house (that had no deaths associated with it) that had always been the “creepy abandoned house” in my home town. I was a reenactor with several other Highschool kids. We used to go to the areas that were blocked off to guests, hide in the windows and peak up when the tour guides weren’t looking. We’d spray perfume in rooms before a tour would come through and would run up and down the the attic stairs which made it sound like someone was running down the main stairs. We were just playing pranks as 16 year olds but a couple years later I saw it on a ghost show, it apparently had become a ghost hunting location and they reported finding all the things we did as pranks. The staff had no idea we were doing it.
For the #debrief: do you ever feel like the, uh, "less haunted" places (such as the escape room) actually increase the validity of your equipment? For instance, things like the REM pod and mag lights were mostly inactive here, but experience a lot more action in other locations known for being more notorious. #fencestraddler
A person in another reply made an excellent point that since this place is modern, it has significantly better insulation, which is how the REM pod and some other stuff work, by temperature changes and electric readings which will definitely not happen nearly as often in a more modern place.
@@Yousifzzz RF waves from two-way radios (just a form of electromagnetism themselves, so I'm not really adding anything beyond what you said lol) can trigger REM pods too. Those are in the low UHF range, so other radio waves like AM/FM, TV & potentially even higher UHF radio waves like Wi-Fi & Bluetooth can theoretically set them off too. Kenny Biddle, a fantastic debunker, wrote a great article about REM pods. He recounted joining a ghost hunt where the REM pod of someone in the group kept going off like crazy. He'd brought a small homemade Faraday cage along for exactly this purpose and asked the person if he could put the REM pod in the cage. Once it was inside the cage, the pod didn't go off again a single time for the rest of the hunt 🤣 For the benefit of others who might not know, a REM pod is literally a cheap children's theramin (a goofy electronic musical instrument) re-packaged as a ghost detector and sold to the gullible at an obscene markup, not unlike the cat toys.
19:56 I love how after hearing the word "pendant", Shane couldn't remember the word pendulum. The ghost is trying to help out with the letter "M" with "underline", and Ryan makes the wrong assumption thinking the ghost is helping them in the escape room. Then the ghost is "beckon"ing them that they got the wrong idea, blabbering all kinds of nonsense, and Ryan again assumes the ghost wants to hear a haiku. By this time, the ghost has had enough and utters out saying, "Wow."
I guess for the debrief but really just general stuff: Though I think we have essentially worked out that this ‘Haunting’ is a Business ploy/scheme, I think the Episode itself still shows us how the dohickeys that Ryan uses do respond in some locations and not others. I.e a possible ‘haunted’ place does respond on the equipment, but it doesnt really here. This Episode can be looked at as a ‘control’ or baseline, to judge other evidence on.
the only thing more surprising than the audacity of these escape room owners to contact ryan and shane, is that shane and ryan actually gave them the free advertising they were hoping for. but at least it's given one the boogaras and shaniacs can agree on xD
But isn't every location doing this? None of them are actually haunted. Many of them make money off of advertising themselves as haunted. To me, it's like wrestling. Everyone knows it's fake and is in on the bit.
@@thefeministagenda9544 how you perceive it depends on if you’re a believer or a skeptic but no, it’s not supposed to be looked at as fake or fabricated on all the locations
The ovilus is my favorite part of the investigation, i dont belueve in any of it like Shane but damn is it usually the funniest bit when it tkmes correctly That "Wow" had such a sarcastic feeling to it due to the voice it uses (Text to speech i think?) and it makes it so much funnier
A lil bit of trivia: With the Joyce & Tim photo, taking pictures with a dead body was actually a common practice in Victorian times because it was usually quite an event to have your photo taken and they would put the dead person in because the living people still wanted to get a photo with that person. You can usually tell which person is dead because the exposure time was pretty long back then and the living person would appear blurry on account of them moving while photo is being taken and the dead person would appear clearer in the photo because they wouldn’t move on account of them being dead.
The belief that dead bodies would be posed to look as if they were sitting up or standing and "alive" is completely a modern myth. The photo they show in the video is an alive couple. The myth mostly started in order for modern oddity sellers to make more money off of "weird and kooky" Victorian items and then got spread by the internet. But in reality Victorians would straight up just take a picture of a dead person in their coffin or deathbed. There would maybe be some old timey "photoshopping" to add rosiness to the deceased person's face, but they would not be posed like an alive person. Atlas Obscura has an excellent article called "Clearing Up Some Myths About Victorian ‘Postmortem’ Photographs" if anyone is curious!
That's a common internet myth. I believe there's a RUclipsr mortician who did a video debunking it? The facts are that yes, postmortem photography did exist. But it wasn't at all common. There are only a handful of real postmortem photos. 90% of the photos people say are postmortem, are not. Exposure times weren't that long and most of the time people weren't blurry. Postmortem photos are also extremely obvious - the deceased is usually lying down, or even in a coffin. Often, they were babies/toddlers so they were held. People make stuff up like that dead people were posed standing up, which they never were. Yes, there are frames that look like they were designed for that, but they were actually used on living people to help them keep still. Actual deceased people are extremely heavy and it's not possible to pose them. In the Joyce and Tim photo, neither of those people are dead.
I know everyone's talking about how fake the haunting seems but I honestly think this was a great representation of what GF is trying to achieve - most of the places they've been have had *something*, but the sheer lack of good "evidence" in this episode surely emphasises how "haunted" other locations have been.
Send us debrief q's in the comments!
Why hello
For the Debrief, would y'all ever consider doing a control experiment with your equipment. Just so we can compare the tools to how they act in "haunted" places, versus locations with no reported paranormal activity.
For Debrief: could the reason the sls cam didn't pick up the shadow man was because you were calling him the shadow man which he hates?
Will you guys investigate Mount Wilson Ranch? Ghost Adventures went but only focused on alien activity. I’m the owner and sent you guys an email a few months ago!! Sam and Colby were supposed to come but due to health issues couldn’t make it out.
i haven’t even seen the ep yet, but wouldn’t a tricked out escape room be uniquely capable of fooling y’all and its guests with illusions? like they surely would want to be viewed as haunted.
Shane is totally right. If you run an escape room, you definitely have a vested interest in the place being “haunted”. It brings all the evidence into question for sure
especially now that we know that one of the rooms leads to the hill where there r sightings
Also weird how Shane apparently knew about routes and rooms that Ryan didn't - which is how Shane eventually ended up crouched in that space below the woman in the coffin. Shane could only have gotten that info from the escape room staff.
@@Karin_Allen not necessarily. We didn’t see everything. He could’ve been looking around the escape rooms
You could say exactly the same thing about pretty much every location they've ever been to.
Yep, worst episode ever made. Cant trust a thing. Tem place being all monitored ruins the walkie placement. It os like their worst work ever.
Shane would love it
Scientific methods for ghost hunting lol that would be funny.
Dropping them off somewhere, no prior research. Just let them walk in blind and get after it, feel it out.
Nah. If you really want to eliminate bias, you tell them a place is haunted and nothing more. Let us the audience know the hot spots but not the boys. And let them just walk around and figure IF there are hot spots. If they get the same results as what we know to be hot spots then there is some circumstantial evidece.
Shane would love it but Ryan would pull out the "ghosts are everywhere" argument.
You can tell even Ryan has doubts about this place with how nonchalant he is this episode
He's been like that a few seasons, sadly.
They were probably paid by the escape room to do it so he knows it’s bullshit

The essence of this show and Unsolved Supernatural has always been about the skeptic and the believer, not the locations.
so backhanded oof
I’m HOWLING
If they ever make a scale of how haunted a place is I hope "garnished with ghosts" is on there a few steps above zero.

Ooh that’s a good one!
oooh that would be so fun! I feel like Shane would be great at making shit up for the places that don't actually have ghost lore attached to them
I love this
I’ve always wanted them to just use their equipment like on the watcher set. Or just in a field outside. But Ryan could still argue that there could be ghosts anywhere. DO IT IN THE CAR! drive around and do an estes method session.
This is a great idea!
Going into this one I’m immediately very skeptical. It feels like a gimmick by the business owners to lure people in.
Yeah. Especially the footage of the room with the monkey. It would obviously be super profitable for these people to be on this show and it seemed like a little too much u know.

Same can be said about most of the places they visited. The only exceptions I can think of at the top of my head is the goatman bridge (bc it's free) and that one girls apartment 😅 All of the other places would benefit from the exposure.

I was thinking that maybe the staff just reached out to them so they could get some free marketing
Definitely feels like an ads imo...
same
I agree, this feels... not haunted; the "evidence" provided by the staff is more than likely not legitimate.
I'm not going to lie but as a person who worked at an escape room before, I have personally seen stuff happening before that cannot be explained

Please tell me you’re not enough of an idiot to buy anything you see on that show
what ep was that?
What’s episode ?
I remember that!

Yeah that got me too. 😂
Yeah that bothered me too.
I immediately opened the comments to say EXACTLY THIS haha it was KILLING ME
I absolutely love the fact that they mentioned the Goatman Bridge while explaining the Estes Method. XD
Came looking for this comment XD
"can you be serious for once" says ryan, before showing us footage of him laughing about knockers, farting, and making innuendos about clocks
This show is so great because it's the only ghost show where the hunters could throw hands with the ghost and it would be normal
Shane did once!
@@beek.4860and he won! 😂😂
Could you imagine if ghosts were actually trying to communicate through the Ovilus but that device just kept spewing garbage words. How frustrating would that be?
That would explain the unexpected thuds you hear, it could be the ghost hitting a table or throwing something 😂
*wow*
i imagine it's akin to those clips of old people trying to use speech to text on their phone
This was very fun to watch since my roommate is a former escape room employee (totally different state and chain) who also swears their escape room was haunted, but who absolutely does not believe a single thing in this video. To paraphrase them:
"Show me a haunted santa themed room with no horror elements and I'll believe you more than this episode."
In fact, *we literally have an identical trunk in our living room*
Like.
It was giving Mambo no 5 vibes
It'd be funny if "Lisa, Ameline, Bill, Tina" were the names of the employees who were asked by their boss to fake a haunting. Imagine these underpaid employees faking a haunting, "this is bullshit, I just want my paycheck" only to be name-checked by the Ovilus and going "...is it actually haunted?"
i'd watch that movie 😂
That would be CRAZY, I love it lol
What if they faked a haunting and then died and now they’re forced to haunt the escape room forever 🤔
@@scrimblo1999naw being forced to work in the afterlife would be a tragedy 😭
I’m honestly surprised they’re even doing this episode. Usually I’m a boogara but this is obviously a ploy to get more business. A door opening on security footage is so textbook and would be very easy to do. Shane is right with this one!!!
Edit: not judging the guys or the team! Just the business.
Yeah I’m surprised that they did this episode.
I agree, but a lot of the other places they do are places that have ghost tours and other such things and would also want free advertisement. The main reason this one feels more like a business ploy is because it's an unconventional place to be "haunted".
I agree. I hope they see your comment for debrief bc they need to address it
Honestly i dont mind that they did, they seem to have had a lot of fun with this oje and i think thats what ultimately matter to them more
True but I don't really watch this for the ghosts but for the Ghoul Boys™!!!
I just love seeing them have fun
Pretty sure this is just a marketing ploy by the escape room. But it’s always entertaining with Shane and Ryan. And you know what, this place makes previous locations seem more convincing in being haunted 😂
I mean this place already makes money as an escape room. A lot of the other locations make money solely on the reputation of being haunted 😅
Getting the word "leather" twice with the ovilus in the exact same spot hours apart is actually a crazy coincident
The name "bill" was also repeated twice
Leather Bill? Leather man???
i watch this for Ryan and Shane and their shenanigans, I couldn’t care less about where they go to but I have to say I was surprised they’d choose this location of all places.
@@shrimpwithagun5702they should have gone to the haunted make-up studio.
I like that idea too lol@@hrpang
As far as the picture of the couple, it was a very common practice, back then, for families to take a picture of a recently deceased family member with the family. They did it as a way to remember the loved one. Because these pictures were taken using a longer exposure time, the deceased is usually the one with the clearer image as a dead body doesn’t move. The live peoples are usually a bit more blurry because they couldn’t sit perfectly still.
Post mortem photos were NEVER taken with the deceased person propped up or posed. People had more respect for the dead than that.
@jenk4545 oh they absolutely did prop them up. We were taught about this in Art History.
@TheRealFellner They absolutely did not, sorry your professor didn't know what they were talking about.
Shane knocking around in the coffin during Ryans solo investigation was absolutely VILE. I just froze during that.
My favorite part of the whole episode is Shane yelling, "hold onto my pocket Nelson!"
It makes so much sense that Shane is more scared of antique stores than old haunted places
@@ZekromAndYugiAndDrago123 The ovilus apparently takes environmental readings and translates them into words. But that leads to the question of how exactly the inventor of it determined what environmental readings corresponded to what words?
@@BenoHourglass The engineers can translate because they speak Ghostese, duh! 😁Though I confess I'm still not entirely sure how the software differentiates between homophones like "hear" and "here" 🤣
I’m obsessed with Shane’s short shorts, he is truly a fashion icon ✨
I bet that he can go lower!

It is kinda cool though if the ovilus was giving accurate hints
They prefaced the episode by saying they were invited to come. I do believe this is just a PR stunt for the place. I went there once. People coming I met were more interested in it being haunted. Also the staff can't wait to tell you about how haunted it. But it was a great escape room.
Great episode. The ghoul boys were on point with the jokes and fun.
boo buddy is so brave being in all these places alone :(
No one's there to be the boo buddy's buddy 😢

It's funny cause Ryan didn't feel any fear even with the thumps and bumps, except when the omnimous presence of Shane was coming in.
"there's definitely a change in the vibe here" The vibe is Shane
*sigh* add it to the demon Shane evidence folder..
For the debrief: Knowing that people were likely to call BS on this one, what convinced you to investigate fully rather than just do the Escape Room as a fun bonus episode or silly season finale?
I think it would’ve been a bit disappointing for this to have been the season finale
That being said, fun episode with Ghoul Boys as always! I don’t want to make it seem like I didn’t enjoy watching this.
#cheeksplitter you mean/j
Once it was inside the cage, the pod didn't go off again a single time for the rest of the hunt 🤣
For the benefit of others who might not know, a REM pod is literally a cheap children's theramin (a goofy electronic musical instrument) re-packaged as a ghost detector and sold to the gullible at an obscene markup, not unlike the cat toys.
This is a really good point tbf as if there is not much activity in one place compared to another it gives a sort of control variable
@@nopls1246 BAHAHA you're right, missed opportunity
19:56 I love how after hearing the word "pendant", Shane couldn't remember the word pendulum. The ghost is trying to help out with the letter "M" with "underline", and Ryan makes the wrong assumption thinking the ghost is helping them in the escape room. Then the ghost is "beckon"ing them that they got the wrong idea, blabbering all kinds of nonsense, and Ryan again assumes the ghost wants to hear a haiku. By this time, the ghost has had enough and utters out saying, "Wow."
That’s exactly what I thought! Very helpful ghost friend ☺️
That’s a huge reach lol
or maybe they're just joking?@@lynndavinci4753
Girl this entire thing is fake as hell quit trippin
I guess for the debrief but really just general stuff: Though I think we have essentially worked out that this ‘Haunting’ is a Business ploy/scheme, I think the Episode itself still shows us how the dohickeys that Ryan uses do respond in some locations and not others. I.e a possible ‘haunted’ place does respond on the equipment, but it doesnt really here. This Episode can be looked at as a ‘control’ or baseline, to judge other evidence on.
Shane's short shorts are giving me everything I hoped for and more. The man is an icon I will die on this hill
watching them investigate in the dark when they're in a location that definitely has lights is so funny LOL
the only thing more surprising than the audacity of these escape room owners to contact ryan and shane, is that shane and ryan actually gave them the free advertising they were hoping for. but at least it's given one the boogaras and shaniacs can agree on xD
And arguably free vacation somewhat
But isn't every location doing this? None of them are actually haunted. Many of them make money off of advertising themselves as haunted. To me, it's like wrestling. Everyone knows it's fake and is in on the bit.
@@thefeministagenda9544 how you perceive it depends on if you’re a believer or a skeptic but no, it’s not supposed to be looked at as fake or fabricated on all the locations

That "Wow" had such a sarcastic feeling to it due to the voice it uses (Text to speech i think?) and it makes it so much funnier
That’s really interesting!
Ryan to Shane: “Can you take this seriously for one second?”
Also Ryan: *proceeds to laugh at his own fart in front of the entire world* 😂
I know everyone's talking about how fake the haunting seems but I honestly think this was a great representation of what GF is trying to achieve - most of the places they've been have had *something*, but the sheer lack of good "evidence" in this episode surely emphasises how "haunted" other locations have been.
