The focus on AI is one of the biggest things that separates this game from all of the copy and paste tactical shooters that have been coming out. Even with Battlefield 2042 coming out it still rediculously requires an internet connection to play single player with bots. To me it's the biggest reason I became a partreon supporter with mod support being the second biggest feature. I'm excited to see how far you guys can take it and how much further the modding community will. Amazing work!
Yes! i dont want to deal with lag and everything else that comes with multiplayer (plus my internet is just $h!t) so the ai is doing it all for me, if Squad, or Hell Let Loose or Post Scriptum did ai, i would've been all over them, but they dont, so instead, im all in for this game
The reason I think 2042 won't have offline bots is because their whole bot system might be cloud based. That's how it worked for their bot tests in Battlefield 1, and Dice said they wanted to take advantage of cloud computing
If the game has multiplayer you MUST have server authority even if there is single player. Ppl will hack the single player client offline and the log into multiplayer with all kinds of hacks lol then you would complain about hackers.
@@simulify8726 They must be decent enough, progress is still enabled on solo matches. If they were too easy there would be no way they would allow you to level up and get the in-game currency.

The fact that you can play this completely offline without an internet connection is an absolute lifesaver for those who aren't privileged enough to access a high quality internet connection. Thank you so much for this.
When I first heard about this project I laughed. I thought there was no way such a small team could make such an ambitious idea come to life with any inkling of quality, if at all. I'm genuinely surprised with how far this has come and I'm really excited to see the final product
battlefront 2 still great mods support but with battlefield 2042 many will left the game. it doesnt matter. the reason skyrim and gta5 with mods still going on bcouse there is no new proper elder scrolls 6 and gta 6. when new game arrive nothing will stop. battlefront 2015 was great singleplayer support and splitscreen visuals top notch with bots but every one flew battlefront 2 when even new dlc comes 2016 roque one dlc no one intrested and go to 2017 game battlefront 2.

there are. there are a ton of mods being created and even smaller quality of life type mods that they actually pay mod developers for to implement into the main game. There's already a full on star wars mod in development which is quite cool.

Can you imagine AI who sprays at your direction in a panic but missed severely because they're suppressed or panicked, vs hardened AI who take they're time with shots and are dead set on getting the right shot on you.
This is great. Here's an idea: getting knocked over when you get hit or an explosion goes off near you. The ACE mod for Arma 3 did this and it was pretty damn cool when you're in a fight and then suddenly on your ass in the dirt. Thanks again for what you're doing.
It is in ravenfield. It is good mechanic but sometimes it is annoying AF. Maybe doing this by having percent when and when not explosion will knock you
So basically the players character should rag doll when receiving enough damage from an explosive, but not necessarily dying. I think this is a really underrated feature of games. Star Wars battlefront 2 has a feature where if you “force push” an enemy they enter a rag doll state, and fling around. I find it immersive and fun. Good idea.
@@littlebrian3070 yes something like that. But I think in this type of game after ragdoll player must go to lying position so player wouldn't get cheap kills as much or make mechanic that after ragdoll there is a drop of primary weapon somewhere near but ragdoll is shorter
In multiplayer based moddable game loosing primary wouldn't be as much trouble and it will encourage players to make sets that fit them in primary and at worst time secondary
It's so wholesome when he plays and has one of this "it's so nice" moments, because: yes, it's awesome and he can be proud also it would be so cool if it had a mode where you as a squad protect a position against bots
Something like a horse mode that was in Gears of War, where you or up to 4 people defend yourselves from hordes of enemy and the enemy also becomes harder and different variety of enemies attack. Its would be so cool

Unlike EA who has all kinds of money, who has a shitty management team, time frames that don't give their developers enough time to make a game not buggy (via Battlefield) and are greedy for money smh... This developer is just having fun making a game he whole heartily puts his time into.
These arent really comparable, one is a business that is designed to make as much money as possible while the other is a dude who's really passionate about his job, and enjoys what he does

Looks great! Reminds me of the Tripwire tactical shooters. Red Orchestra 2, Rising Storm 1 and 2, are some of my favorites. CoH is also a big favorite of mine. Subbed!
@NIGHT DEMON39 that’s why I love black ops 3 and still play it often. The bots are fun to shoot around with on nuke. They aren’t too easy or too hard. It’s a damn shame battlefield games don’t use bots.

Bots can do what players online generally are unable to achieve unless it's a highly devoted team of players who know each other and want to play as authentic as possible: they can make you feel like you're a part of a cool battle. Real players usually don't care about how whatever they're doing looks, which means you end up with a whole bunch of tea-bagging coffee-addicted hamsters in period uniforms running and jumping around, completely defeating the purpose of even having different eras / decorations to fight in. Bots, on the other hand, usually behave in a much more... realistic - for the lack of a better word - fashion. Of "authentic", rather. They play the game without breaking character, and if you want to really immerse yourself in whatever is happening, you can't rely on 10 year old Jimmy to provide you with a good and authentic backdrop.
I honestly thought this was HLL from the thumbnail. This game is honestly mind-blowing. You and your team are doing increadible work, making a free to play, non-pay to win tac shooter. This game is so visually stunning, and the gameplay looks great. Keep working, please make this happen.
Tbh i think drake should stop calling it a "game" but more of a "platform" because it technically isn't a single game. He's making the foundation of a house making it look nice and pretty ready for the community to build a mansion ontop it.
Increased recoil to promote well placed shots and a headbob animation for the player when moving would be awesome, besides all that, this games comping out great, ill 100% try it out when i get the chance to!
@@2200gonewild same with motion blur, both things are unrealistic and annoying. Yes motion blur exists in reality but your brain tunes most of it out, motion blur on a screen doesn't accurately represent motion blur your eyes see
the game looks fantastic i just have a suggestion which is the sprint stamina being less and take time to recover also recoil being alot while being on foot or moving because that is gonna give this game a really good realistic touch which will prevent players to spam rushing dodging like warzone or battlefield instead players will be focusing on taking cover and think about making the next move. that will make this game very unique.... sorry for my english its not my native language
The game seems great. What I would *love* to see, is sort of a Commander system. The commander could issue strategies for his troops, issue orders, authorize support, while being a unit himself. Kinda like it was in Battlefield 2.
I wish you would stop teasing me with this project. I've been saying for years that there is a huge community of people who love this type of tactical, large scale shooter, but only want to play against AI. Either they want to play offline or they just aren't good enough to compete with the online prodigies (that's me). Arma is getting a bit old so BF 2042 is very exciting and so is this. So hurry the hell up and finish this!! 😉
The fact that Bohemia didnt realize that this concept (a modding platform for military enthusiasts) is how people use and mod Arma III and failed to capitalize on on that, mind blowing.

In regard to the AI, a few ideas: 1 make the AI employ a number of period accurate tactics. 2 AI uses progressively better tactic variations during each game to keep players on edge and motivated to improve theirs. 3 (not done in any game!) uneven numbered factions! 4 Have AI shout their orders toward their soldiers so players can anticipate certain attacks. 5 The more creative and surprising the AI is, the more fun it is to play against. 6 Allow a player to command the AI team as and RTS game! (like ARMA's ZEUS) General ideas: I always want to meet new online friends in these games, talk, work and create(!) together new interesting experimental ways towards our goal. However the game must allow and offer space for such communication and creativity. BF is much too hectic for this. ArmA is creativily too limited and slow. HLL is getting closer, but I miss a sort of setup / build up phase like one has in most RTSs. Also each game should have a interesting, satisfying escalation and crescendo (final). Maybe you can have an in game demo record function, that shows the most impact full moments when a round ends? Love the baboo forest!

@EpikLemon sometime around the 16-1700’s people in Britain were tired of religious prosecution and stuff like that. They moved to what is now the USA and had a war with Britain over taxes and the prosecution and such. That was an extremely simplified explanation.
That would't be so hard. They would just need to create the minutemen/redcoat player-models and programing a musket (which is pretty easy, you can legit just take like a bolt-action rifle and make it extremely slow to reload)

Please have a game type called 'Escape' or "Evasion", where a small squad/team of Blufor SF with silenced SR-25's (and sh*t) have to escape/evade a whole team of Taliban/African militia in a torn up middle eastern environment. Have multiple objectives that the blufor must complete in sequence, and then escape. 1. Remain in stealth to evacuate hostage. 2. Sabotage Cache (become detected) 3. Bail out while onslaught of militia pursue you... ...I've always wanted it. to my disbelif it hasnt been made. This game looks super promising.

Your final comments were by far the most compelling. Having the AI handle the more boring gameplay roles. If the AI drives the logistic trucks where they need to go, the game will still have that strategic depth of resource management, but the players won’t be forced to play a boring role. I’m also imagining a system where the AI won’t drive on roads that haven’t been marked as “clear” by human players, after they’ve checked for mines. And at any time a human player could tell the AI to scoot over so they can drive instead.
I was so happy when I saw Monte Cassino at the start. Can't wait for the game, my nonno watched the bombing of it in WW2 while being forced to work for the Germans.
I've been wanting someone to make a game like the Old Rainbox 6 Athena Sword where you can group up and tango hunt. Our Clan used to have so much fun running tournements with that.
If this gets good enough, I would love to see a Star wars mod for this with a huge range of Vehicles and weapons. Just a really Tactical Star Wars shooter.

Technically this project will have no final state. Which is fine, it is designed with a community mindset and not as a commercial product.

@NIGHT DEMON39 that’s why I love black ops 3 and still play it often. The bots are fun to shoot around with on nuke. They aren’t too easy or too hard. It’s a damn shame battlefield games don’t use bots.

Bots can do what players online generally are unable to achieve unless it's a highly devoted team of players who know each other and want to play as authentic as possible: they can make you feel like you're a part of a cool battle.
Real players usually don't care about how whatever they're doing looks, which means you end up with a whole bunch of tea-bagging coffee-addicted hamsters in period uniforms running and jumping around, completely defeating the purpose of even having different eras / decorations to fight in.
Bots, on the other hand, usually behave in a much more... realistic - for the lack of a better word - fashion. Of "authentic", rather. They play the game without breaking character, and if you want to really immerse yourself in whatever is happening, you can't rely on 10 year old Jimmy to provide you with a good and authentic backdrop.

Tbh i think drake should stop calling it a "game" but more of a "platform" because it technically isn't a single game. He's making the foundation of a house making it look nice and pretty ready for the community to build a mansion ontop it.

Increased recoil to promote well placed shots and a headbob animation for the player when moving would be awesome, besides all that, this games comping out great, ill 100% try it out when i get the chance to!

the game looks fantastic i just have a suggestion which is the sprint stamina being less and take time to recover also recoil being alot while being on foot or moving because that is gonna give this game a really good realistic touch which will prevent players to spam rushing dodging like warzone or battlefield instead players will be focusing on taking cover and think about making the next move. that will make this game very unique.... sorry for my english its not my native language
The game seems great.
What I would *love* to see, is sort of a Commander system. The commander could issue strategies for his troops, issue orders, authorize support, while being a unit himself. Kinda like it was in Battlefield 2.
I wish you would stop teasing me with this project. I've been saying for years that there is a huge community of people who love this type of tactical, large scale shooter, but only want to play against AI. Either they want to play offline or they just aren't good enough to compete with the online prodigies (that's me). Arma is getting a bit old so BF 2042 is very exciting and so is this. So hurry the hell up and finish this!! 😉

The fact that Bohemia didnt realize that this concept (a modding platform for military enthusiasts) is how people use and mod Arma III and failed to capitalize on on that, mind blowing.
Maybe SteelRaven can help you or give pointers with improving the AI. His AI has come a long way since the early days of Ravenfield.

In regard to the AI, a few ideas:
1 make the AI employ a number of period accurate tactics.
2 AI uses progressively better tactic variations during each game to keep players on edge and motivated to improve theirs.
3 (not done in any game!) uneven numbered factions!
4 Have AI shout their orders toward their soldiers so players can anticipate certain attacks.
5 The more creative and surprising the AI is, the more fun it is to play against.
6 Allow a player to command the AI team as and RTS game! (like ARMA's ZEUS)
General ideas:
I always want to meet new online friends in these games, talk, work and create(!) together new interesting experimental ways towards our goal. However the game must allow and offer space for such communication and creativity. BF is much too hectic for this. ArmA is creativily too limited and slow. HLL is getting closer, but I miss a sort of setup / build up phase like one has in most RTSs.
Also each game should have a interesting, satisfying escalation and crescendo (final).
Maybe you can have an in game demo record function, that shows the most impact full moments when a round ends?

@EpikLemon sometime around the 16-1700’s people in Britain were tired of religious prosecution and stuff like that. They moved to what is now the USA and had a war with Britain over taxes and the prosecution and such. That was an extremely simplified explanation.
That would't be so hard. They would just need to create the minutemen/redcoat player-models and programing a musket (which is pretty easy, you can legit just take like a bolt-action rifle and make it extremely slow to reload)

Dude. Please have a game type called 'Escape' or "Evasion", where a small squad/team of Blufor SF with silenced SR-25's (and sh*t) have to escape/evade a whole team of Taliban/African militia in a torn up middle eastern environment.
Have multiple objectives that the blufor must complete in sequence, and then escape.
1. Remain in stealth to evacuate hostage.
2. Sabotage Cache (become detected)
3. Bail out while onslaught of militia pursue you...

Btw I love the bamboo fields in the Vietnam setting. Close quarters with nothing but shrubbery in your view almost maze like but all soft particles.

Your final comments were by far the most compelling. Having the AI handle the more boring gameplay roles.
If the AI drives the logistic trucks where they need to go, the game will still have that strategic depth of resource management, but the players won’t be forced to play a boring role.
I’m also imagining a system where the AI won’t drive on roads that haven’t been marked as “clear” by human players, after they’ve checked for mines.
And at any time a human player could tell the AI to scoot over so they can drive instead.
Maybe even the ability to mark a path to take?.

I've been wanting someone to make a game like the Old Rainbox 6 Athena Sword where you can group up and tango hunt. Our Clan used to have so much fun running tournements with that.
If this gets good enough, I would love to see a Star wars mod for this with a huge range of Vehicles and weapons. Just a really Tactical Star Wars shooter.

This is the first time I've heard of this and this is actually insane if ya'll manage to pull it off. Having that many different eras of war in one game I didn't even think would be possible that is extremely ambitious and to make it free??
