Pakistan started with so much hope & promise in 1947. The country is blessed with excellent human and material resources Unfortunately, there has been a familiar pattern of misadventure: Whatever funds & aids are raised; they are systematically & repeatedly siphoned off by the Army in the defence budget and the rest by the elite in their anonymous bank accounts, businesses, properties. Despite the unbearable national debt burden (and high inflation is one consequence of this and mass protest is another), little is left for the man & woman in the street - for the aawaam - for education, research, infrastructure, for welfare, health, science, technology. It’s only a matter of time when the rules of economics (and karma) will oblige Pakistan to divest itself of Azad Kashmir (not dissimilar to the proposed “privatisation” of national assets). Logically, it’ll prove self-destructive otherwise to continue to repress and bankroll an impatient “colony”. 😰😰
