    Harsh country, captured to come across as paradise. The perfect amount of narrating to allow the viewer to also process their own emotions as it is all being explained, it just doesn't get any better, amazing work. 10/10

    Excellent video guys. Grant sold me my second bow (first bow in 20 years though) back in about 2012 I think at the Melbourne Shot Show. He was working for Abbey Archery. Great young fella and very knowledgeable.
    Great bull here, awesome hunt and production.

    really enjoying your vids guys. Awesome stuff! One thing I miss is not seing you butcher and cape out the animals tho. To me this is such a big part of why I hunt, and a part that I enjoy as much as pulling the trigger. Just curious, did you harvest meat from these bulls and if so what is it like to eat? Cheers.

    • @bowhuntdownunder314
      @bowhuntdownunder314  4 года назад +2

      They are tough as mate even the traditional owners shy away from Bantang, even the best cuts need to be turned to mince, we butcher plenty mate but not all, generally when we do with the heat and flies she's all hands on as we run cameras ourselves and tend to show more of the recovery on our insta stories

    • @bowhuntdownunder314
      @bowhuntdownunder314  4 года назад

      It's a 50 50 call throwing a rock
      The slow move to the side option seemed do able after 30 mins when the bulls eyes shut. But he stored and caught the boys off guard in the open.
      They could have backed out past where I was filming a cut across either out

    I have no objection to hunting in general so long as the animal is respected, humanely brought down, is used for food or pest control. According to wikipedia, however, the wild banteng is listed as an endangered species as populations have decreased by more than 50% in the past few decades. "Banteng are legally protected in all countries in their range, and are largely restricted to protected areas." In light of these facts, can you please explain how you came to be hunting them?

    • @bowhuntdownunder314
      @bowhuntdownunder314  4 года назад +2

      Banteng are an introduced species here in the NT, numbers are kept in check each year via culling or controlled hunts through outfitters to keep a sustainable population on coburg peninsula. We can only hunt introduced species here in Australia. There are no shortages of Banteng in this part of the world with the estimated population around 10 000 animals. To this day it is amongst the toughest meat I've eaten.

    Do u take the meat or just the horns?

    • @bowhuntdownunder314
      @bowhuntdownunder314  4 года назад

      We utilize meat horns skins on majority of what we shoot

    • @michaelrobertson8833
      @michaelrobertson8833 4 года назад

      Do u have a video of u braking one down?

    • @bowhuntdownunder314
      @bowhuntdownunder314  4 года назад

      Not from that trip
      With high temp and flys she's all hands on deck. Even the best cuts on those bulls need to be minced.
      Understand here in Australia we can only hunt introduced species. Plus we supposedly have to deal with risk of disease and certain areas. We take what we can for us or dogfood depending on the critter and area. Plus some areas we need to take certain numbers of these so called evasive species to keep numbers in check or government culls with helicopter shoots where no one benefits, no meat is taken, landholders get nothing for a good resourse and it costs us tax payers greatly.
      We have filmed recovering game in a number of our films when conditions are more favorable and we have more time.

    • @michaelrobertson8833
      @michaelrobertson8833 4 года назад

      Yea , I've done a couple of government Cull's , I grow up in western qld so I know what ur saying, I was hoping u mite have a video of u guys braking down on any of ur hunts as I'm interested in seeing it done , iv done it with sheep n cattle n goats but I'm always interested in how other guys go about there stuff, thks n good luck.

    i watch a lot of bowhunting vidéos and i like them but i still don't understand the challenge in shooting a sleeping animal. but it's me and i maybe wrong ....

    • @bowhuntdownunder314
      @bowhuntdownunder314  4 года назад +2

      Each to there own mate.
      With the high temps in ¹the north a lot of the mature critters bed all day and only move from there beds on dark and are in them just after sun up. We want to hunt and just cause they a laying down doesn't mean they are asleep. All these animals we hunt here a introduced and feral and their number need to be kept in check plus most stuff we shoot bedded is sub 20 and still have to work at getting that close.

    I’ve seen dozens of Brads hunting videos and enjoyed them all,but I found this one drawn out,........too much slo mo

    • @bowhuntdownunder314
      @bowhuntdownunder314  4 года назад

      If this short film felt drawn out well that's good as we tried to portray the feeling of how the hunt went and how the hunt felt for Grant. My old videos varied grealty and were full of clips of plenty of different critters being taken with the bow.
      I often got told how easy we made it look where a lot of those hunts that couldn't be further from the truth, we struggled heaps but I only showed the action back then which never really told the whole story or gave any indication of what went down. Just a heap of clips going from one kill shot to the next.
      Where hopefully these short film give some indication and understanding to the viewer what we actually go through on a hunt.
      Some people just want to see the kill,
      while others want to know the story, we understand what ever we do won't necessarily please every one.
