    If someone conciders going into debt to buy pokemon, they dont need advice. They need financial therapy.

    • @NOLA-vv3sz
      @NOLA-vv3sz 14 часов назад

      Depends. I would say that is true for people who are just trying to flip without building the business around it. Most small businesses operate on credit. Most of the card shops out there are operating on debt. Debt can be fine if used properly.

    • @YokoBeLoco
      @YokoBeLoco 13 часов назад

      @NOLA-vv3sz I'm operating from home, cash only, until I can save enough for a B&M. I feel like owning a shop with the stress of debt will, over time, kill your entisiasm and exponenially increase your odds of failing. If you're serious about doing it, you may as well do it right with the highest probability of success.

    One thing you don’t get is that Pokémon is the worlds most famous IP. Uncontacted Amazonian tribes collect Pokémon.
    I think we can end poverty and world hunger by shipping boxes of sealed Pokémon back and forth from Eurasia to North America. Every time a box is sold, GDP is generated. That’s organic growth.
    Every booster box that’s opened is an opportunity for a new box to be sold to replace it. Someone is going to win a Nobel prize in economics for this 🧠

    • @mikesteve2058
      @mikesteve2058 15 часов назад +1

      He's not angry that he's selling less he's questioning how people are able to sell products at such cheap prices and still be profitable. When pre-orders were up for Evolving Skies, I bought one for $77.92 with taxes and shipping INCLUDED. Not only do I have the evidence to prove that, but the box was legitimate because I actually pulled a Rayquaza V alt art. Their (and everyone else's) prices aren't that crazy as back then, but they're still selling booster boxes for around $94-$96 with taxes and shipping included. Are they evading the IRS when it comes to this stuff? How are they making money on the boxes? It's a legitimate question to ask when you go down that rabbit hole.

    • @voxnewman
      @voxnewman 7 часов назад

      I don't think you were paying attention. He's sitting on a lot of Pokemon and will still have access to more new boxes than finance bros because he built up his allocations with his distributors. He's going to be able to make way more profit than them. He just doesn't like that market because where it eventually leads: people other than him going bankrupt.

    Lol you are way overestimating the "investor" portion of the Pokemon market. Most product is bought and destroyed by kids and casual enthusiasts. The Rudy's of the world make up less than 0.0001% of Pokemon investors. Most "investors" will last 1-2 years before liquidating or opening their own supply and now out. Your videos are no different then investing gurus predicting stock market crashes. Markets are cyclical so expect boom and bust cycles. Short term is noise. Long term is more important.

    • @INHUMANENATION

      I agree with all of what you say as I'm a macro long-term investor. I don't trade nor do I speculate. I look for things with deflated value that has utility and take long term positions.
      I say that to say that it's not fair to deny the opinions of this person simply as a investing guru. He's not angle shooting but clearly scared at a time when people are appearing a bit greedy. If he wasn't standing in front of a tonne of product then I could understand he might be selling advice but to me he's just thinking out loud for the benefit of others.
      Investing gurus most times don't even own stock or plan to own stock and get paid off the lies that they do and presenting themselves as more than.

    Great video man! I think the trap people fall in to when comparing other TCG IP’s to Pokemon is the fact that Pokemon have 4 massive arms to the company (TCG, the video games, the anime and the toys) which stand on their own in terms of popularity. When one of two of these see a down turn the other arms prop them up. - It’s plain to see a massive bubble for Pokemon TCG on the horizon and inevitably a crash, but the others parts of the IP prevent this from becoming terminal.

    I agree with most of your points about pokemon. Buying at 170 a box is terrible idea if you are trying to invest.
    Where I disagree is on the reprints. A charizard in obsidian flames and a charizard in another set might be the same mechanically, but they aren't the same in terms of completing a master set. Completing a set is huge in pokemon, it's one of the things that seperates pokemon from other tcg's.

They are dealing with do we get our collectors to become players and if that does not work how do we get them to make it easier on players problem.
    Magic knows it needs that dumb money , Wotc is realizing that commander players don't crack packs , and they need players that crack packs . It why they are starting to make a strong push on standard and modern . But all they are getting is diehard will only play magic players , most of your players that would show up for the events locally are off playing something else or Commander and don't feel like investing the resources into the 60 card formats. Their is reason why pokemon is Number 1 in the world , while magic and Yu-gi-oh have a fight on who is going to drop out of the big 3 first.

    Old Pokémon should only be worth more if there’s demand…. How many people want vintage??? 10,000? 100,000?? I’m 37 and couldn’t give a rats ass about vintage. It literally looks like the 90s and that’s not a compliment lol.
    How many people want modern?? 250 million?? 500 million???? It’s simple supply and demand! Modern is going to overtake some vintage! It’s gaurenteed! Now whether that’s because vintage comes down to meet modern or modern rises up to low vintage market is up for debate. But it will happen.

      vintage looks so bad, im 36 too and those cards just dont have any taste, its a flat background with a sticker of a pokemon, or a very nonsense saturated background and a pokemon in middle of the mess, compared to the new arts, vintage isnt appealing, thats why none buys, theres no enough ppl that wants to pay that price for a ugly card, ofc there are exceptions but vast majority arent worth it, most sets dont even have 1 good art

    I do invest a small amount in Pokemon. But, I do it by finding deals. For example, I recently purchased 151 booster bundles for $17 from Gamestop (buy 2 get 1 deal). That's something I'll hold on to. Being patient and waiting for those deals or being willing to walk away when I can't find them has treated me very well over time. At worst, I hold some product and can probably sell them for what I bought them for. At best, I make a bit of money 3-5 years down the line. The trouble lies with people who don't have the patience and are willing to buy a new product for double triple the cost when it's printed into oblivion.

    No one grades MTG, everyone grades Pokémon and makes money....your stuck in your bubble, and can not see past your love of MTG as it dies.

    Some people get their inventory from distributors cheaper because they spend more money with them? And based on the background of your videos I don't think you have the capital to compete. And based on some of the things you've said, you seem to have a poor mentality. Its because you see things half empty. Sorry but it's true.

    I've been a Pokémon fan since the very beginning and in the card market since 2017 and I disagree with most of your takes.
    But I agree that currently is a very scary situation. I am being very cautious if this hype train mentality continues. I see the covid era returning and - just like you - I don't know why every one's jumping on the hype train again all of a sudden.
    Edit: One question, what crash are you talking about? I know that people for some reason didn't like the beginning of the SV era and that you could get boxes of Pokémon SV base / Paldean Fates for $90 - $100 for a long time. But that's not what I would call a crash, that's how it should be. You shouldn't see boxes jumping to $150 within the first 1 or 2 years of their life cycle.

    Why are you so scared 😂 just don’t buy then? You ask if we want these investor bros in our hobby and if we think it’s good for the franchise as a whole and to that I say yes, it brings value to our products and cards, the fact that people see value in holding products and people buy these products at high prices is good for the hobby. You’re the kind of negative people we don’t want. You’re really getting on people for grading modern cards of there favorite Pokémon? Because they’re just “$20” cards? Look in the mirror bro. You’re the negative cry baby.

    *Edit* you need help, get your mental health check. 24 min rant is ONLY going to hurt your business....
    If people want to take a mortgage and lose their house, let them, you can buy all their liquidation at the end of the year.
    SV booster boxes have been bad since release.
    We are going through a 151 hype, so idk quite understand why we acting this is Covid times and buyers are robbing Targets.

    you will *ALL* be begging me to take your booster boxes for $5 each in a few years, but I expect a 50% discount if I buy more than 3. You see, I need cardboard for my paper mache projects I am working on.
