im always seriously impressed by the fact that brosenthal didnt get the character voices mixed up for each person during that scene because holy shit i'd get so confused
I honestly don’t know how Brian remembered which character was each prop in that scene I would have accidentally grabbed the wrong prop several times tbh
@@IDEFKsk I'm not surprised distinguishing things like Skittles and Watchamacallits is probably not hard but a 100 Grand and 3 musketeers probably felt almost identical
As a musical theatre nerd who has had many many quick changes in his theatre career, it’s not just the costumes that are impressive but the character changes in these. The accents change perfectly and characteristics which is difficult. Starkid is amazing
One of my personal favorite quick changes I went from wearing a tube top dress to a sweater and I had to put on a bra and sweater over my wig in the shortest amount of time. I also had to unbuckle my heels which one led me to scrape my ankle and start bleeding so I hobbled across the stage to grab a tissue while delivering my lines as my “mom” in the show looked on in horror
@@christalcavanaugh Oh dear. Compared to that, my fastest change is rather boring. I was wearing a ball gown and had about a minute to change. I had to slip out of the dress, I already had pants on under the dress, so then I had to put on a white button-up shirt, which I only managed to halfway button. I then put on a big brown fur coat, wrapped it around me, grabbed the props, and rushed on stage.
I never had many quickchanges myself (except one or two when I did Puffs, but they weren’t any less than 30 seconds) but when we did Shrek I helped our Farquaad change out of the regular outfit into the wedding one and that was fun cuz you have a whole song to do it, but it’s fairly short and those tunics just were not fun to deal with
Theory, there is only one staff member at the hotel in solve it squad and what we see is what the squad are actually seeing and Brian’s just gone insane running a hotel by himself and wanted friends
I know Curt megas actual mom! He grew up in the area I live in and did a bunch of shows here. She is a vocal coach and a musical director! Real sweet lady, it's easy to see how he developed such a good voice
As someone who recently had to do a quick change for a production (maybe not even a minute to slip on an armor breastplate and gauntlets) I have an immense appreciation for this practice.
The best part is that these costume changes/character changes are so well done that I didn't notice some of them until this video, specially the SAP. Those are specially subtle
I was in little mermaid in high school and I had a stressful quick change, in the first scene I was a sailor steering a ship and in the next scene I was a fish in King Triton’s court, I basically had to calmly walk offstage hand off the ship’s wheel to somebody, run to where I stashed my fish tights take off my poofy sailor shirt and pants, put on the tights put on a matching hat, and get to the place backstage where I waited for my que to go on... I only had a short conversation between Ariel and Scuttle about dinglehoppers to do all of that (I couldn’t wear my fish tights under the sailor costume because it had these frilly fin things on the arms and legs that would have been hard to hide)
I stan all these people and their quick changes, like holy heck how did Brian manage to do that so well!? Amazing scenes that made me laugh 😂 Also, did not notice the poncho change by Joey in Oregon until you mentioned it.
now that black friday is out, maybe a black friday version? lauren and jon as linda and gary to emma and paul is a good one or joey, james and robert in the cineplex--they exit around after the second chorus of feast or famine james, jeff, curt, joey, and robert as the burning cultists to their TGWDLM outfits in What If Tomorrow Comes dunno if it counts but dylan covering up with his flannel and coat onstage also very unsure since the scenes were divided by opening credits but lauren as a sniggle to emma
I think with avpsy as well they didn’t turn their mics off when they were backstage because they didn’t have time to do a mic plot. Don’t quite me on this though
It's not a quick change per se, but you can see in the clip for Brian's quick change in the beginning of Solve It Squad how Lauren leaves the stage right after getting her glasses because her mic pack was dangling down the back of her dress and she had to quickly tuck it into her undergarments between lines before it fell completely.
Personally I think one of the more unnecessary changes is Emma to Alice's friend for let it out and then right back to Emma for inevitable, like Alice's friend misses most of the song because she's changing, comes on for the end and then immediately rushes off back into Emma. But if you assume the blackouts last as long as shown inthink Jamie's change from Emma's boss to the peip officer again from let it out to begining of inevitable scene and then from peip officer to... Somebody for the inevitable song
One time during Crazy For You I had about 20 seconds to change completely from a banker in a suit and tie (Perkins) to a rooting tooting cowboy (custus)
Ugh I remember that my director made ME stay up creating a schedule of when quick changes were for me and the other girl who played my character. But I actually had to call my sister before the show to help me because I had to change from a full dress and heels into a Nightgown and no one would help me. 1 minute to do it too
What do you think the stage directions were for Brian’s scene in Solve It Squad Returns? (Brian finds out he was having an affair with himself, and accuses himself of cheating, and finds out he got himself sick. All while changing hats, and a Russian maid (I think she Russian), who is also Brian, watches
For Mary Kate’s change from waiter to Tatiana I think the skirt is just the dress and she put the best and shirt over it. I could be wrong but I think that would be the fastest way
Dikrat Productions Yeah that would make sense. I have to go watch that scene again now lol Edit: Upon rewatching, everything seems pretty well planned out timing-wise but idk maybe there was some improvising
OK but quickly - l wanna say. Why did Lauren come at the end of let it out lie right at the end cause she thne had like the black time (ish) to change into emma
Brian proposing to himself because no one else deserves him
“Brian really kicked it up a notch in solve it squad” whether this was a pun or not, it’s definitely not wrong.

same with Jeff and the candy bars in HMB

brosenthal x brosenthal is my otp
Is it just me or does the sentence "all that effort just for dramatic effect" sum up both Joey and Owen perfectly 😂
I call it the Killmonger Technique

“MoOoOOoOooO”
your name is beautiful
wubbels thank you 😔🤜
I like how when Brian is changing and it’s sped up you just hear a bunch if screaming
my favorite part about the 8 second prop switch is you can see him SPRINT as soon as he gets halfway through the door thing
As someone who performs for a living, quickchanges are usually more stressful than the shows 😂😂

I love Brian R so much, I started cackling like a hyena at your captions during his Solve it Squad scenes
is it bad that I didn't realize Jaime was trying to keep from laughing at 5:58 until now? I didn't even notice while watching the full show
It's one of my favorite parts of that number.
I’d like to believe that the characters Brian plays in the motel in Solve-It Squad is really just one guy with multiple personality disorder
I never noticed Jamie laughing at Joey after the Citizen 2 to Citizen 3 change in TTO xD
Brian on the solve it squad returns is the most chaotic thing ever and I love it
Joey and Brian are kings of quick costume change, change my mind.

The one question I need answers to is- if Ricky wasn’t cheating then how did they all get mono?!

Best costume change to Mr. Rosenthal
keith is my favorite part of everything.
I think with avpsy as well they didn’t turn their mics off when they were backstage because they didn’t have time to do a mic plot. Don’t quite me on this though
Everytime Brian Rosenthal is on stage during "The Solve it Squad Returns" I get flashbacks to my time running multiple characters as a DM playing D&D.
you’re doing the gods work here
i love how fast this became a meme. because honestly what did we expect from these guys
what a king

Looks like Dylan still has the boots on for Green Lantern.
This is amazing, I love how thought out it all is
The SAF quick changes are everything
Okay but now I’m lowkey shipping brosenthalxwig
Joey is to Trail to Oregon as Brian is to Solve it Squad
At 8:04 he says Stephanie rather than Beth I’m cackling
