Thank God for the caring of the teacher. Dawn trusted her enough to show her the bruises and to tell what her and her brother were going through. She also saw how he treated her when he dropped her off at school. He needs to be thrown under the cell, just like those who abuse children in life. Children are a Gift from God and should be treated as such. I loved how the school reached out and helped the family financially; we need that in our schools today.

Well, in a way, it was partly the mother's fault for making the decision of leaving a total stranger in the care of her kids. So, when it comes to children -- esp. YOUR OWN, NEVER GIVE ANYBODY THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT!!! DON'T EVER THINK TWICE ABOUT ROLLING THE DICE FOR ANYONE!!!!!!

I am still a voluntary teacher and I know what these children are going trough because I always work in schools where children come from poor familes. Those children need love and attention the most at school. I have made beutiful children songs which I put on you tube so they can learn and sing them. "Diana Maruez Curacao"

Last I heard about a teacher stand up to an abusive adult was 40 years ago when a step mother badly beaten a young boy just because he gotten bad grades. It took a close friend to bring it to the teacher attention why this boy missing so many days out of school. It's very few teachers seems to care about their students and this year I'm praying their be more that willing to help.
Teachers are like parents to the kids more love to all the good teachers out there

such a great story highlighting the true power of teachers. However, imho I would NEVER have confronted the parent on my own. Best to have either security standing by or a fellow admin in the room.
As for abuse towards me, I would not tolerate it, I would stand up to them right then and there and call security!
I thought the same thing but then the police officer came and the mom so I'm certain she had called them beforehand so even though she was scared she knew an armed police officer was standing by and listening

In the USA, the teacher would not confront the parent directly. I am a teacher btw and originally from Arizona. We’re supposed to immediately make a report to CPS and then report to admin and school counselors
