THE SMALL STELVIO - LAGHI DI CANCANO

The Italian village of Bormio hosts the iconic Stelvio. But in Bormio starts another climb too: Laghi di Cancano. The locals call it the Mini Stelvio because of the similarities. The shape of the road, the hairpins and the landscape of Cancano are a small-scale representation of Stelvio. With a more gentle gradient, Cancano is an amazing mountain to climb with rewarding views at the top.

The lake you went to isn't lago di cancano, it's the really small "lago Scale". Scale is about 500m from end to end. Lago di cancano (and the continuous san giacomo) is a man-made reservior with a big dam in the middle and another at the end. It is 6500m from one end to the other, it's another 1km further along the road from where you stopped in your video!
