    Awsome video man, keep posting these high quality spearin' vids.
    Im away from the sea and every day I miss it more and more. Every night I take my speargun out from under my bed, count my change, and count down the days untill I'll be able to get the gun salty again.
    Keep up the posts. 5*'s. Congrats on the Marlin too, freakin nice catch.

    @GoldenXen I infact do understand the difficulty to spear a marlin, but I see them as a sports fish and would rather catch them on line.
    I approve on all other fish in this vid though because they are all good eating.

    @kimkemay I don't know the situation where this video took place, but it is probably legal there, they probably taste good, and parrot fish are known eaters of coral. Said coral takes a lot of time to grow to a decent size, and each parrot fish eats an obscene amount, and parrot fish are far from rare.

    If you're mechanically inclined, then you should by the parts to fix your gun. Compressed air spear guns are a real pain in the ass to fix, if you can even fix them at all. You should definitely invest in a 2 or three band spear gun.

    its a pretty tiny dicked thing to do to shoot a black marlin, as they arent really particularly good table fish and youre not exactly gonna release it with a hole through its gut, the only reason people fish for them is game, which is fair enough because line fishermen can actually release it.

    Considering the fact that the poster ate the marlin, can any of those people who opposed it give a reason why it is such a big problem? I am having a hard time figuring out why a marlin's life (or a person's for that matter) is worth so much more than a chicken's. And the fact that they are pretty doesn't count.

    little black marlin taste great anything over about 80kg has worms that why people tend to release them but not all people catch and release. if a marlin swam up to me while diving id shoot it too! this year has been the biggest run off black marlin I've ever seen most caught on rod and reel. 2 month ago there was about 10+ frames of black marlins from 10kg to 50kg everyday. line fishos aren't innocent eather mate!

    why is that sometimes I want to start doing this , I love freediving,the ocean.
    I know that it is better killing and eating by urself than paying those companies that kill in mass and throw half away. But I dont want to start loving a sport that the objective is to kill. I know that the most natural thing etc,Im not against it, and it looks really fun, thats why i wanna do it...but I dont know if my concious will be ok with that..help me thats the reason why im in medicine, to preserve life

  • @emannuel321
    @emannuel321 13 лет назад

    @nedla15 Some fish are ok in parts of the world and not in others. Barracuda is an example. It depends on what they are eating in the area. And marlin is delicious. I've eaten it at a restaurant, and if I ever catch one, I am going to eat the hell out of it. It said at the beginning that all the fish were eaten. They didn't say whether it made them sick, but I'm assuming they didn't.

  • @emannuel321
    @emannuel321 13 лет назад

    @xosyer The average would probably be based on the average person. So many variables relate to your body composition due to the fact that muscle, fat, bone, etc. all have different densities. And your wetsuit, if you wear one, has a big effect. But the short answer for someone living in the tropics that doesn't use a 5mm wetsuit is not much. I don't use any, personally, but I'm a sinker. If you are diving with proper form it shouldn't be too hard to get down.

  • @emannuel321
    @emannuel321 13 лет назад

    @kimkemay Your size point depends on the distance from the camera. Based on the length of a typical spear shaft and comparing the length of the fish to it, I would say the fish was well over twelve inches long, and due to the girth of a parrot fish in relation to its length, I would say that one was definitely a meal for at least one person. I have seen parrot fish that I know weighed at least five pounds. Don't know what you consider big enough though.

  • @emannuel321
    @emannuel321 13 лет назад

    @Bettlebonnet People do live in the jungle, just not us. I would agree that doing it for fun doesn't make sense, but the disclaimer in the beginning of the video said he ate all the fish he shot. As an aside, I write for a very green fishing magazine, so my views are in no way meant to reflect a lack of respect for the environment. Wild caught animals are healthier than domesticated ones. Could that be a sign that eating farm-raised is worse? And "dehabitation" is furthered by farming efforts.

  • @Bettlebonnet
    @Bettlebonnet 13 лет назад

    @emannuel321 yeah predators eat other predators all the time they do it to survive, we're doing it just for kicks. I just have respect for the environment. One person taking out a shark etc an't gunna have any effect, if we all did it there'd be none left. People don't 'live' in the jungle anymore so it's the tigers environment, De habitation is pushing people closer to them unfortunately, In that comment it was an example, refaring to big game hunters doing it for fun. Guys with guns and small.

  • @Bettlebonnet
    @Bettlebonnet 14 лет назад

    thats fucking shit, u should only shoot fish ur gunna eat not just cos its a buzz. Ur lucky to see those fish so why kill them. I'm spearfishing in Northern Scotland right now, hunting for big cod, freezing my testes off between the polar bears and ice caps anything I see thats interesting and not overtly edible I admire I don't put a hardened steel spear through its head just cos its there. I'm also jealous cos the young lady looks better than me in a wetsuit....now that don't happen much lol

  • @S1on1ste
    @S1on1ste 14 лет назад

    @myrransf : spearfishing is not a simple sport like volleyball or badminton - it uses a dangerous weapon, water skills (swim, breathe, shoot) which require training and practice, plus the courage to face the sea and its surprises. In fact holding your breath at the bottom of the sea will attract the fish to come towards you - if you try to swim to them they will escape quickly, whereby my comment... I do not deny the fun of it, and our friend who posted this vid is very a skilled shooter =)

  • @smaghe

    Each movement you make is a loss of energy, learn to palm in a very calm and regular way.Don't spoil energy palming down, you should always go down and up very slowly, with slow and ample movements.Don't spend energy holding something(rock) or agitating yourself (swimming with hands), underwater all necessary efforts you make represent a great loss of air.Learn to rest on the surface, breathe slowly and regularly. Aim is to be really calm and move softly ! Peace !

  • @SouljaMoi
    @SouljaMoi 16 лет назад

    I go spearfishing every weekend. I only shoot what I'll keep. Theres no point shooting a fish then letting it go when it will die within a short amount of time. From blood loss, infection or any other reason. Also, always aim your shots for the tail. the further up the body you go the more chance of the fish dieing if you do happen to let it go. If you find a school of fish don't go on a killing spree. All in all good video, well done.

  • @serafinobp
    @serafinobp 16 лет назад

    Nice video, I'm glad you respect the elasmobranchs even though they steal the catches occasionally. To the people that are complaining about spear fishing being cruel think about large drift nets that take a long time to kill the fish and also have huge bi catches. Spearfishing is the most ecological way of fishing because you are only killing the fish you want not a whole bunch of other unwanted ones.

    what happend in the end
    did he shoot a fish that was too big to pull out imidiately so that he first hang it on the robe of the two baloons ?? because the went down but i couldn´t see what was happening exactly
    spearfishing is an intresting sport and in my eyes it´s the fairest way to hunt fishes as long as you do it without oxygenbottles

    @Bettlebonnet In addition, predators eat other predators all the time. Why does killing and eating something disrespectful? And why don't cows deserve more respect than that? Black marlin isn't endangered? They are naturally more shy and harder to find/catch. Parrotfish are great to eat! Also they didn't shoot at the shark. He poked at it to keep the shark at a distance. Sharks are very curious, and need only a small reminder to help them not attack the diver.

  • @emannuel321

    @lifesaverkid I've never heard of longlining for Marlin. Where do they do that? In the states? Commercial fishermen definitely catch more fish than I do, Marlin or otherwise. That or they're spending much more money than they're making.

    Great video! Also, spearfishing isn't just about having difficult fish to shoot at but fighting it to the surface and testing your own limits not to mention putting food on the table. If you can eat it and you do, it's fair game in my book.

    Some of this is very poor ... does he really eat what he spears? ... does he consider spearing a slow moving, parrot fish to be sport ? He should spear edible, sporting species like the small, fast moving tailor or the small, blindingly fast, mackerel tuna.

    sharks usually don't go for humans while they're diving... and he pointed it at them so that if they go close they would swim into the point and run away... and if he did get attacked... i'm 100% sure he'd try to shoot the fucker
