    "Mambo nº5" was a song composed and recorded by Cuban musician Perez Prado in 1950. Lou Bega sampled the last 30 seconds of the original, and that was enough to skyrocket him to international stardom in 1999.

    I can't recall a wedding in the last 20 years that didn't play this, and I'm a part time photographer so I've been to a lot of weddings!

      It doesn’t feel that old because it was still popular as hell well into the 2000s. It’s still a great song but it’s just one of those songs every 90s kid knows

    This is STILL fire! Sometimes it's all about the energy and the sound. You gotta realize that in the mid-late 90's, there was a slight resurgence of Swing music. This was just 1 of the huge swing fusion songs of that time.

    One hit wonder! I remember it well, so catchy! Fun fact....when this song came out I found it hilarious for the fact that a friend of mine had dated girls with each name in this song!

      THE most successfull one hit wonder ever though. as far as I remember he released that song in different countries in different summers and charted every time. he is making so much money off of that song today still. I think it was either last year or the one before he was in tv commercial during football season with that song playing in the background.

      @@KaBeeM There are many one hit wonders out there that are still incredibly popular and used in commercials ect..... still making money. You claim this one was THE MOST SUCCESSFUL OF ALL TIME. What actual facts did you get that conclusion from? In no way am I saying it was not successful cause it was. I am just saying before claiming it as THE MOST..... do some research! Cheers! Also FYI....Vanilla Ice is actually the one hit wonder who made the most money for Ice Ice Baby. Also cannot forget Eye of the Tiger, Macarena, My Sharona, so many more!

I just remember he had that one song charting several times which is mostly not what summer hits do. he re-released that song all throughout europe and other parts of the world. I didn't do any research to be honest, it's just what I remember from back when he was on TV a lot. that commercial he was in last year even made a joke about how he's still cashing cheques.

    I worked in music retail in Australia during the 90s and 2000s and we were TOLD to play this song non-stop all day every day to sell it. It was a particularly cruel brand of torture. The fact I've clicked on this video proves that I must love your channel enough to put myself through it all over again.

      I worked in music retail in the US in 99. I got SO sick of this song. I can't even listen to it now without cringing a little. We were selling that CD single all day every day though lol. I went back to music retail about 2004... I'm not sure which is worse, Mambo No. 5 or Somebody Told Me by The Killers. And I love the Killers, but I can't with that song after hearing it on a loop for a year.

    We had this song play randomly on our speakers at work. When it came up to "A little bit of Sandra in the Sun" we all looked round to Sandra who was working behind booksales. She looked up at us and scoffed: "Don't look at me. I'm well past that"

    Loved this song back it the day. It always reminded me of music my Dad used to play when I was a little girl by Pres Prado. Come to find out, that music was Lou Bega's inspiration for this song. I knew the beat and music sounded so familiar to me. Great song, even after all this time. Thanks for the great memory. Love to see your reactions to songs and really enjoy your channel.

    This was a HUGE banger in Germany in 1999 and around the world. It ´s sad that this is a one hit wonder he didn´t deserve it. 1.3 million singels seld form April to July in Germany.3 Millions till Dezember.4 millions in the USA and 12 millions around the world!

    I remember the first time I heard this. I was driving around. It was 1999. The DJ came on & prepared us for the song. He said he has a real treat for us. It was a new song that just came out, and you're not gonna wanna miss it. About 5 minutes later, I was jammin' to it. I still am! :)

    I love this song... 3 of my sis in laws are named in this song... I love this so much!! My sis in laws names... Gina, Sandra and Mary (rip Mary). In laws had 6 kids lol. This remind me of Cuban music from 50s.. That is like zoot suit from big band era 40s
