Thank you so much. It really helped me begin to understand the need for booking in advance when using the super ticket. For the Palatine Hill, could I ask how you did it ? What I mean to say is what was your itinerary for this trip ? Did you leave an hour per bookings or more ? Is it better to save the Palatine museum for last so you can get in early for the booked super ticket sites...and go from one booking to the next ? 😁
Thanks for watching my video! I'm glad you found it helpful. First of all, I live in Rome, so this was not part of a trip. If I was visiting Rome as part of a trip, and considering how much I love Ancient Rome, I'd personally dedicate one whole day to the Palatine Hill/Roman Forum and using the SUPER ticket.
Taking the time to book is not that complicated. I book the various sites like this one, Casa di Augusto and Casa di Livia (which all require booking, and are all free to book) online via CoopCulture, and then I just buy my SUPER ticket at 8:30 in the morning when they open. You can always buy this ticket on site, especially in the morning.
I'd visit the Palatine Museum when I was near it because it's near most of the sites I mention above. So if you book the Domus Transitoria and House of Augustus for morning visits, then visit the Palatine Hill at that time. The rest of the Palatine Hill, and certainly the Roman Forum, are sort of far, so I'd do it as best as possible by area. Hope that makes sense!
@@Romewise Thank you. It does make sense and clears away the confusion. When I lived in Rome as a college student from from 1977 to 80, think back to the Aldo Moro / Red Brigade years, there was never really a time when you couldn't visit a site. Sure they were closed at odd times during the week, but that is Rome. But now , when I see the crowds at the Flavian Amphitheatre it makes me cringe.. it looks more like a Disney attraction so I begin to worry a little. But I am a very good trip planner. That way we (my wife and I) can pace ourselves and have a very nice time. I will keep an eye on the SUPER ticket. We plan to visit in Nov of 2020. Things may change by then, but I will be watching and checking. And since many of the places we will visit take bookings there is a lot to do and figure out. That is only part of it, I don't want to leave you with the impression that we won't have time to relax, and drink wine during our two week trip, but there is a lot of scheduling to consider.
The Vatican Scavi Tour books months in advance for example.
The very good part of all this is that so many sites are now open for the first time to the public. It's just going to take some planing to do it. It might even be worth booking a few tours to avoid the crowds, like the Sistine Chapel, and maybe a night tour of the FA (Colosseum) maybe a good work around . I like your idea of visiting in the morning. What I didn't know is that you could could book a time at CoopCulture BEFORE you bought a Super Ticket. That is great news. Thank you for this valuable insight . 😁 BTW. I plan on staying in the Largo Argentina area as it is close to public transportation.

1. Did you get to see Nero’s Triclinium and is it open for visitors?
2. I wonder about the “ramp” that lead up from the Forum to the Palatine, is it open for visits? Is there a special ticket for that? I mean the one that looks like a funnel l tunnel with tall vaults.

Ha - wow, I just rewatched it and almost everything in that video is no longer available or open the same way. Sadly, the Domus Transitoria, along with the House of Livia, closed to visitors at the beginning of the pandemic and neither has reopened! I keep asking and I keep getting the same answers - hopefully soon.
By Nero's triclinium I believe you are referring to the site that is currently being excavated which is not even close to being opened to the public. I can't wait until they do!
And the ramp that leads from the Forum to the Palatine is indeed open and I did a video about it just a couple of weeks ago:

Hi Elyssa, if I have already booked a tour to visit Colosseum, Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill, do I need to book extra ticket to the Domus Transitoria?
Hello and thanks for watching! The ticket you have now to visit the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill is a standard entry ticket. If you are taking a tour, it's important to know where you finish.
If you want to visit the Domus Transitoria, you will need to upgrade your ticket to the S.U.P.E.R. ticket, and you will need to book the visit to the Domus Transitoria. You can do the following:
- Pre-book your visit to the Domus Transitoria. If you want to go on the same day as your tour, you can book it for about an hour after your tour is due to finish. By upgrading to the S.U.P.E.R. ticket, you will also be able to visit the Domus Transitoria the following day if you want.
- Let your tour guide know that when you enter the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill, you want to stop and upgrade your ticket to a S.U.P.E.R. ticket (you will pay 6€ to do this.) If you won't have time to do this during the tour, you can visit one of the ticket booths at either the Roman Forum or the Palatine Hill BEFORE you enter on the tour. Alternatively, as long as the Roman Forum/Palatine is the last part of the tour, you can NOT LEAVE with the tour group, but stay inside and head back to the ticket booth to purchase your upgrade. It's important you do this step BEFORE YOU EXIT the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill.

Hi Elyssa, are the new museums in the Palatine Hill air-conditioned in summer?
There is only one museum on the Palatine Hill, and it is air-conditioned, although it does not have American style air-conditioning. It won't be a blast of cold air. The other sites are not air-conditioned, but many are covered or underground, making them cooler.
