“Breaking the Silence of AIDS” covers the stories of three local women from our aboriginal communities who lost a family member to AIDS. The stories tell of the pervasive silence surrounding AIDS in our communities and show the strength and determination of these women to break the silence. The film is not the typical mainstream documentary; it is very professional and yet quite unique and unconventional. The production involved not only the three women telling their stories, but also three different youth from our community who did the interviews. The film strives to create an encouraging environment of dialogue and proactive education.
